FDA have now granted authorisation for the J&J covid vaccine. EU are expected to follow with an announcement mid March. Not sure when the UK MHRA will make a decision, hopefully very soon. I think someone mentioned before that we could potentially see the UK long haul routes to the USA open before the EU. Will be good for BA & a morale boost for the aviation industry if this was to occur. GLA. Strong buy, IMO.
Good post Linkop, markets look ahead, a bad day on the Ftse100 yesterday and IAG rose even with bad results. The tide is turning the summer is getting nearer, markets always look forward if you wait for the summer to buy in here well and truly missed the boat or should I say plane!! IAG are taxiing to the runway and primed for take off. Should start to see a good rise in the days and weeks ahead. GL All!!
OracleofOldham, I am not sure your strategy either short term or long term.
Many people here was saying same story on IAG when it is around £1 or 150p, now they might worry, so you are saying that to the RR now which will be above 130p or 150p in months or two, so your strategy is buy once lifted, you are not really gain much benefit buying once news or market updated to positive unless you are a day trader, buying at low is the key to long term profit and for the investors, if someone for long term then few months early buy is not harm as you know the price is cheaper and they are very patience.
Only sorters and day traders are trying to stay away if they think that the SP is not going to rise within next few week or in couple of month.
Even that buying IAG in few month is doesn't make sense if you have money now as it's going to get higher week by week.
So your statement is contradiction, sorry that's my view.
GL to you.
Interesting perspective thanks for sharing
personally i wouldn't go into cine or RR either.
Both are reliant on decisions outside their control and I don't even mean lockdowns.
I think cinemas will struggle now movie companies, especially the likes of disney, realise how much money they can keep by streaming new releases. Also people in general have got used to streaming now.
I think cinemas will still be around but think there has been a permanent move away from them.
airlines can decide how many planes they use, schedules they run, etc so can adapt to slow downs in business but RR is completely reliant on them flying as much as possible otherwise they suffer.
RR at least has a strong moat as one of only 2 companies that make engines for bigger planes, but even there airlines seem to be moving to smaller, more efficient planes for more of their routes as engines improve the distance smaller (one aisle) planes can fly.
Just my own insight, obviously do what you think is right.
I'm looking at adding slowly to IAG over next few months as see it as one of the winners over the next few years given it's strong (comparatively) financial position and the likelihood more smaller airlines will fail allowing an increase of market percentage to be grabbed.
Haha No problem TP.
I'm ready to top up( again) on CEY. June/July recovery, hopefully.
I bought too early but I'll learn from the mistake. Fundamentals are outstanding. Take a peek.
It's not all gloom, I've kept the fact that I bought MKS at .94p April last year to myself. So I'm happy with that one. April should be a good month hopefully.
But CEY is a Dagger in my heart at the moment. See what I did there?
I've watched today with interest. I'm watching the news flows, sentiment etc. A little bit of Covid passport euphoria took hold this week. I'm with TP doing my research and deciding whether or not it will be sustained in the short term.
Have a cracking weekend guys/gals
DaggerMal
PS - time to explain my user name. It looks a bit intimidating DaggerMal. Nothing could be further from the truth.
My football team is nicknamed The Daggers, my name is Mal. Simple. I haven't got an obsession with sharp metal honestly!!!
Come on you Daggers!!
Agreed, I believe 190 is the new bottom, topped up earlier this will be over 200 as we move towards summer and then we we do start flying easily towards £2.50 and some. GL All have a good weekend!!
Yes TP, they have 'used' the pandemic well to remove staff they would have had trouble with with the unions, got furlough to cover salaries whilst training up furlough staff to change rolls. The nuclear side is receiving very large research money externally and the defence is strong. Big possibility of significant growth sentiment in SP.
It's futures down heavily today, but we should be happy about the resilience.
IAG: High demand right now and will go close to 210p next week and will settle 190p as new bottom in my view.
RR: Easily can hit 120p next week, and 50% rise can expect in 2 months, it's hard to predict exact time but holders will reward. Once it's gone, it's gone.
DYOR
Good Luck All.

'I’m optimistic RR share price is due for a significant rise.'
You and me both. Just not yet.
It doesn't matter how diversified Rolls is - Small nuclear division, profitable defence and arms portfolio or being one of only two major aircraft engine producers.
It's the engine revenue and maintenance stream that drives Rolls.
Yes, there are hints of international travel opening up. But fully increased flying programmes across the World from June?
Rolls has transformed itself dealing with Covid, as has IAG.
Rolls will rise, no doubt, just not yet in my opinion.
But good luck, enjoy your weekend.
“Low 90s I believe is a real possibility. Even after all the Vax news and BJs 'Roadmap', you can't seem to keep Rolls SP up with a forklift, blue pill and two weeks notice. “
I m very optimistic on RR. We are seeing a big recovery in airline stocks. Which means the market is saying that planes will be flying soon in the sky. If the planes fly, RR will naturally benefit. RR stock should closely be aligned to the airlines fortunes. I’m optimistic RR share price is due for a significant rise.
I'm only looking at very short term spikes on news stories for cineworld, maybe 10% on a lucky day. RR is 170-200 again on a news spike over a month or so. There's also a chance of winning both the lottery and pools this weekend so I might be telling you all where to go come Monday morning.
'I'm not interested in IAG until next week'
At last, something we both agree on. For me, it was never really about today. I posted last week that rather horse trade today I'd keep powder dry for next week when the spikes subside and we (I) can try to start to fathom where the real sentiment is going.
Me agreeing does not mean I'm waving my willy at you ;-)
Couple of other thoughts. On companies you've mentioned.
I personally wouldn't touch Rolls until after Q3 results next month. And then I'd wait longer. Low 90s I believe is a real possibility. Even after all the Vax news and BJs 'Roadmap', you can't seem to keep Rolls SP up with a forklift, blue pill and two weeks notice.
CINE, Not for me right now. The debt is eye watering, though renegotiated. As are leases and many staff on furlough. Sat on my hands there.
CEY on the other hand looks to be going sub £1 (sorry Dagger) and is being hammered by lower gold prices and bonds.
Why buy a CINE share for a quid, pay the stamp duty and hope for the best.
I'd buy CEY, NO stamp duty and the company has no to little debt.
Just my end of day, sat in the sunshine musings.
Here's wishing you all a great weekend.
GLA
I'm not interested in IAG until next week, I'm holding powder dry and keeping eye on other opportunities, might average down on RR, cineworld has some legs. I think there is going to be a big correction with the budget too as any measure announced to pay for the borrowing splurge will be received negatively.
Ahh cool... I've fixed the spell checker in the browser. My insightful posts might start to make sense now :)
What happened to the ramping crew~? They didn't last long - they seem to have given up pretty quick.
FDA hours away from approving Johnson and Johnson one shot vaccine. They now have 3 approved vaccines lovely news for a return to normality and get them lucrative air corridors open.
