Lol TradingPlaces, I have filtered BB as its the only way I don't get drawn into these type of wasteful conversations... I can still see the carnage of his/her input in the title "Kermit the Frog" :)
Depends TP, There is a window between receiving the Easy J shares and pulling out as the hysteria starts to ramp up into cop26 [even more so than now]. During cop26 and for a while after, any and all airline stocks are going to take a battering.
Mock me as much as you want. It is a real thing. Like mocking me for mentioning the La Palma volcano - because as we all know volcanoes have absolutely no impact on air traffic anywhere at any - just fly straight on through! Tectonic plate movement might just possibly set off a few more in the region. Which way is the wind blowing?
Okay, so to be clear, does this mean your not investing in IAG today?
Thanks for letting us know again.
Day after day after day.......
Capacity is determined by slots and aircraft seats, there was the same number before and during the pandemic. Slight reduction in seats coming due to 747/380 being phased out of service but for the most part nothing major.
Second runway at Gatwick would add a lot of capacity to the southeast. End of that consultation is in early December.
So, Oldsid, climate change policies are of no consequence to airlines. And pointing this out in response to high level news stories is not legitimate. I understand that this is so perpendicular to the mainstream rhetoric and narrative, it is a difficult concept to take on board. But it exists for real and either a way to stop the destructive environmental policies is found or you have to prepare your investment strategy to accommodate the potential losses. Pretending this does not exist is simply not an option. Just listen to the narrative. It is out of control and there is a total lockdown on opposing voices.
No I’ve not sold but can’t stand all this squabbling so I’ll try another community chat but thanks for that and good luck to you sundezena.
Oldsid, you sold? best of luck.
This community is being dragged down with all this squabbling I do come in here for some good insight into share buying some are brilliant but some just drag it down to this I’m out !!
and on R4 right now, mayor of london revealing one of these policies, NO INCREASE IN CAPACITY to be allowed. And where do you think the baseline for that capacity level is to be set? You bet, they will use as far as they can pax numbers during the pandemic, or at the very least use those numbers to pull down the pre pandemic numbers. It is coming your way. The zealots will pull aviation down.
We know Johnbrie, you want to destroy conventional aviation and force everybody to buy your highly explosive rocket fuelled research grant money making machine. Ban fossil fuel aviation in cop26 and switch yet more millions into your back pockets eh? Do you work for zeroavia? Did your company lie to the CAA? Can the yanks trust anything in your risk assessment?
Nobody is going to fly in aircraft that go BAANG just after takeoff. How the hell are you going to manage to flush all cavities all the time fast enough to avoid the 17% build up of H2 to avoid the inevitable explosion? It works with rockets because the cabins are completely sealed enough to leave the atmosphere. And Challenger demonstrated what happens when you get a leak - and that was an external leak.
Keep your nose in the trough and pocketing the money.
.... and another point to consider. Many people believe that such drastic consequences will be dealt with and opposed and dramatically watered down thanks to the big players and big bosses wading in and putting the politicians and hysteric zealots in their place.
How well did that work out in the pandemic? How long has it taken for travel to reopen? Even when things like herd immunity levels of vaccination have been surpassed? How effective were the airline bosses? And remember, the pandemic was a medical issue, climate change is an ideological issue!
Absolute garbage and how can you sell what you haven’t got.
Bull, the plan is not about making people pay more to fly now, there are initiatives afoot to introduce a cap on travel where you cannot buy additional trips, a form of mileage cap. Crazy claims about planes pumping out more co2 than fuel carried for example has made aviation enemy number one in many environmentalists eyes. And why you hear Boris talking as he does, it is clear he is well and truly part of that movement - cult - and will not blink at introducing massive restrictions on travel as they are going to do with fossil fuel cars. And in a very short space of time, as the refineries lose petrol and diesel markets, the cost to continue producing aviation fuel will go up and up and up. Fixed costs divided between an ever decreasing number of liters of refined fuel. There is no debate, no alerts, no questioning of this impending disaster.
I'll be selling out irrespective of loss or gain as we get into October as I expect hard radical policies to be presented that will severely restrict free movement and cause a market crash, not just in airlines. The pandemic has been a gift for the hysterics, they have been able to be a part of maintaining extended lockdows and travel restrictions, and they will be planning and working now to keep that going as far as they can and extend as much of a level restriction as they possibly can into cop26 and beyond.
I believe the fashion industry causes more pollution than air travel (10% of world pollution is clothes production, vs 25% for ALL modes of transport). Are we all to run around without clothes now? And stop eating beef?
I agree that airlines will come under attack, but they are also the ones who need to work for a solution as air travel can't go away. Greener planes will become a thing.
Nah it won’t. Just like in oil the majors will suck up any emerging small companies to gain control over the green transition, IAG have already been doing it for several years. They can’t move any faster than Airbus or Boeing do. Unless demand is hit due to consumers wanting to have less of a carbon footprint (there is a small amount of that) then not a lot will change.
Oh no, the entire planet watches as Boris uses Kermit the Frog to promote a completely hysterical climate change speech.
And you lot still think aviation isn't about to be crushed on the back of this rhetoric? When people at the level of Boris spout this utter nonsense as an actual belief you know you are trouble. Nobody is allowed to challenge or question any aspect of this nonsense.
Long term holding of airline stocks will result in a major loss. You will get a strong indication during cop26 when airlines will come under attack.
It is extraordinary to see this utter madness unfold. Self-destruction of the industrialised world.
