More classic miss direction. Oh yes, under normal circumstances the quashing of amber + lists should have a very positive impact, but I happily acknowledge the fact that I jumped the gun, and indeed give a more realistic response time frame. And I give a slightly longer term prediction to Nov based on what is to be expected at that time. You have to be very consciously seeking to misinform and misdirect for you to represent those actual real world postings in the manner you do. My investing tactic has been spelt out for a couple of months and has not changed at all. What are you so afraid of that somebody might consider anything I say as worth considering and taking into account? When are some of you so afraid of me? Is it that too often I post ideas and comments that you are not familiar with, outside your comfortable little bubble and that scares you. A couple of new ideas and you are scared and cowering behind the sofa. How long does it take you before you accept new or changing variables? A month, two months, six months? Do you have to have that nice well groomed Roger Melly, the man from the telly, say it on telly before you can begin to accept it? Some of you people deserve all you're going to get over the next few years.
BB you rant complete nonsense, its why I highlighted it. You were forecasting +10% for Easyjet this morning and a few hours later its doom for the travel industry?? I am comfortable and calm with my investment choices and don't listen to a word you say, if I did I would be all over the place....
Again, this rant that people who do not own a particular share at a particular moment have no right to comment. I am very worried for some of you. You have become very emotionally attached to the share. You have become very blinkered in the outlook and hit out anything and anyone that doesn't ramp the hell out of it as if that actually makes a difference. There are some very weak people invested in the market who clearly do not have the nerve for it. This is a public bb and as such all and any opinion can be posted. YOU go away and set up your echo chamber on ADVFN and take your fellow insecure investors with you.
BB I read the first two lines of what you typed and stopped, the usual drivel amd see saw speculation ... Curious that you spend time on this forum and you're not even invested? Shouldn't you use all the money you "made" on Easyjet and concentrate on making more elsewhere .... Its complete nonsense.....
"According to multiple reports this evening the Prime Minister has elected to bin the proposal, which triggered outrage on the Tory backbenches."
So what we really have is the other side hitting back against the lockdown lobby - although it is Big Boss doing the hitting back which does carry a great deal more weight than some faceless nobody further down the ranks. Market reaction is null and void, well we have seen plenty of very welcome moves before only to have them brutally sabotaged just days latter. As long as the sentiment in the lockdown lobby remains to seek ways to simply stop foreign travel full-stop, then the market is going to remain suspicious. The revised travel list and policy will be revealed Wednesday and maybe the 10% spike will happen then, I was certainly jumping the gun thinking news rumours would be taken on board. So my plan to take the next big Easy J spike and then switch to IAG ahead of a US change in travel policy remains on track. It is all about the timing. If I miss the switcheroo it doesn't really matter as I will still have cashed in nicely on Easy J. Then, cash-in, then stay OUT of all travel stocks and anything connected with what the environmentalist lobby hate running up to the cop meeting. BBC and others continues to ramp up the hysteria. An unusually higher number of people I have talked to about the hysteria are looking straight through it for what it is - a blatant attempt at thought control designed to dupe people in to a way of thinking and way of life they would never otherwise consider based on science cons and fakery. The more the climate change lobby try to push it, the more people are becoming resistant to it. It is a fascinating thing to watch. The twisted reporting and fiddling of 'averages' and highly selective cherry picking of data and data windows over wild fires, ice packs, weather events and so on is not fooling people as easily as it once did. And if all that climate change crap is going to be used to impose restrictions on people's freedom to travel as an when they wish, well, did you see the trouble out on the street in July as people demanded the end of lockdowns in many cities across Europe? Yes, all confused with anti-vaxxers jumping on the protest bandwagon but removing travel and making it a privilege is going to kick off big time. Just look at skyscanner now in the states, in Asia, in Europe - and that is with significant pandemic restrictions in place. Travel stocks are going to bounce around like crazy if such travel restriction policies are proposed in November, and this one might just be the last straw and finally this totally one-sided lie will be challenged head on and some real world reality returned to the debate. The mass hysteria will have to end eventually.
10%?! BB Im glad you are not managing my money..... IAG will pull away now as summer closes and focus turns to US travel.
@bigblue,
"Expecting 10%+ easy J tomorrow - switcheroo getting very close now."
All the best with that. I am waiting for Biden to announce travel relaxation between UK/US.
We should see that in Aug, anyway that is my prediction. I do think airlines will pick up steam from here as number of passengers is increasing every week. GLA and DYOR.
muted response! Market seems as trustworthy of the announcement as I am, lol.
Actual travel review not formally announced yet so I may have jumped the gun with a 10% rise for Easy J today, maybe on the formal policy release. Then switch to IAG just ahead of Biden announcement? It is now a possibility.
thanks ger-paul, I was being economical with internet ink short handing the point. Now, how many bets that the lockdown lobby will switch a green watch to red suddenly in a prime tourist destination? We should be celebrating and breathing a big sigh of relief, but recent history tells us to be cautious instead. But the other major impediment to travel is the testing which serves no practical purpose and should be removed entirely. Any changes to a countries status is based on the reporting from within the country, not from the negative tests of travellers. Indeed, those negative tests don't seem to have informed any decision on any travel policy. So what are they for?
The lockdown lobby has just been dealt a significant loss of face. They had been publicly promoting their sabotage schemes, whipped up full media backing and were ruling the roost. Major come down when the boss says 'no'. How will they retaliate? Retaliate they will as we have seen on several occasions before. Boris is not doing a reshuffle and is not removing the problems from cabinet.
BB - BBC news at 10 saying Amber list 'abandoned'.
You misunderstand, its the amber watchlist that has been abandoned, not the proper Amber
Seems the scale is now, green, green watch, amber, red
Amber watch was between amber and red, but now scrapped (for this week at least)
...and the case rate is still coming down, faster than I predicted with less people wearing masks from the 19th July [but of note a lot of the shop workers are not wearing them and they are the ones in contact with surfaces in customer facing areas all day long!!] whilst death rates have levelled off. I will say, 'I told you so'. And it was predictable.
BBC news at 10 saying Amber list 'abandoned'. Knee jerk is to jump for joy, but on recent performance that might mean all counties are moved to red, even the UK! Amber list being removed - I'll wait until I see it! Expecting 10%+ easy J tomorrow - switcheroo getting very close now.
This is a really good news, Possibly start of the beginning to go north from tomorrow.
The travel industry reacted with relief at the news that the watch-list would not go ahead.
Tim Alderslade, chief executive of the air travel industry body Airlines UK, said: "This is a victory for common sense. The PM has hit the nail on the head - people want a clear and consistent travel system that they can understand and that is workable."

GLA
BA saw bookings from the US surge by 95 per cent last week following the Government's announcement that quarantine would be waived for fully vaccinated US citizens coming to the UK. Flights between New York-JFK and London Heathrow will increase to 21 services per week (up from 17 per week), Los Angeles and Chicago will increase to 10 per week (up from 7 per week), starting from August 16.
Just need Sleepy Joe to wake & open up. GLA. LTH.
So no amber watchlist anymore and IAG increasing flights to US due to sudden surge in demand. This is when its just one way, once it opens up both way, SP will reach above £2 if not earlier.
