I think IAG is ahead of the pack due to more positive regarding vaccine and restrictions easing from USA.
If US-UK routes open then IAG will be biggest beneficiary and that should reflect in share price very soon.
Those who think IAG price is high are wrong. Stock market always looks into near future and if future business prospects are good then that should reflect in share price now.

maybe the extension to furlough implies the UK gov don't have the same confidence 8n the vaccination.
I'd personally like to the whole world head forward with caution , it's not a sprint ,more a marathon and I for one would not be looking to head for Texas or similar with or without a vaccination in the foreseeable.
IAG took the opportunity to trim their costs e.g. cutting legacy contracts during the pandemic and putting new staff and some existing on less favourable terms. This will drive substantial cost savings in the years ahead. A trimmer airline, more fuel efficient aircraft, final salary pension scheme closed, acquiring Air Europa at a reduced price increasing its presence at Madrid and South American markets. I personally believe this will be one of the best risers on the FTSE100. It will take a few years to recover of course but when it does, should sail past previous highs. Covid took out some of our competitors , I wouldn't be surprised to see £10+ in a few years time!! GL All!@
Agree in part GB46. Is the furlough extended to Sept in the hope that the numbers will rapidly dwindle but the scheme still there as a safety net? Or is it in case we have to go for a 4th lockdown? Or is it that the re-opening is going to be patchy with local lockdowns and people moving in and out of furlough over summer going into autumn?
I hope it goes well on the sp, if the re-entry point doesn't arrive for me with a fall back on the sp I have plenty of irons in other fires. It is a bit of a turkey shoot which stock to go for as the vacc rolls out and lockdown end looms. Spoilt for choice!
US said that they will have vaccines for all americans by May, 2 months earlier than predicted and that will allow them to re-open their economy quicker, we do the same here and allow people to travel to USA with a digital passport and longhaul travel will come back sooner than people thought. IAG is at the top of airlines benefitting from lowering costs including staff and relying only 33% on corporate travel, the likes of Lufthansa and Air France rely heavily on business travel and they have not lowered costs as much. IAG will fly high in the next couple of years. It's a strong BUY from me, IMO.
GB,
There is degree of confidence in vaccines, that may be the reason.

I read the article but it's totally going against wheat most consider to be correct ,Bidens totally against it and if this goes pear shaped ,where will that put us , Crazy in my opinion at this stage of the recovery

I know that and most are going ballistic about it , this is exactly what we don't want as it's just another opportunity for a resurgence after things are starting to look better

Gb46,
Few US states have started lifting restrictions, see Texas, Michigan etc.
I can imagine that extending furlough until the end of September means that restrictions are expected to be ongoing until the same time.Simarlar to when last November it was extended until April 21 , more concerning than something to be happy about but who knows
Ftse futures are up about 40 points. So we can expect positive start for the day.
Will it hit 210p? Good chance. Hold tight
Extension of furlough will certainly tick up the price. Winter behind us as we head towards coming out of lockdown and a day nearer the travel task force announcements in April I can see this steadily rising now towards £2.50 mark.
With all the positive news on vaccinations and budget expectations to extend furlough I think it might end 215+ today. IMO - could be wrong, will know it later today.
Not sure if it will open by May, but assuming large numbers of people vaccinated in the US, I would have thought by June or July at the latest.
President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced that the U.S. will have enough COVID-19 vaccine supply for every adult in America by the end of May.
By end of April, around 40 million in uk and 150 million in US will be vaccinated (at least first dose)
J&J single dose vaccine rollout has just started, so that will further speed up vaccination numbers.
All vaccines are proved to be more than 85% effective in controlling spread and reducing new cases and deaths.
So there is good chance USA-UK corridor will open for flights. IAG will hugely benefit if that happens and iag will go cash neutral once this corridor is open.
What do you think guys? Will US-UK air corridor be opened on 3rd week of May by taking into account 21 million people in UK and 77 million people in US have been vaccinated so far? When the air corridor opens IAG will jump 250p+++
