Symesuspect - I will travel as much as I did last year and the year before depending on which EU locations are restriction free.
I don't think companies are all taking this super green approach the media make out. Physical meetings are needed, team meetings don't match the efficiency or personal touch a face to face can achieve.
Aso, its worth remembering - over the last 12 months, many new employees haven't met their colleagues - i know my clients want to make up for this missed interaction asap
I've already been asked if i would travel to US/Germany/ Austria to meet several clients which I will asap.
On a personal (some business), I already have trips booked to the US (x4), Caribbean (x3), Spain (x3) this year
I'm glad you're here Fugazi....every place needs a class clown
Symesuspect, people will travel no matter what. I have 2 flights booked to USA this year...Demand will be huge...share price will recover nicely. Actually, it is already and we haven't even started flying! The more the share price goes up, the more holidays people will take..Cheers IAG!
"I will expect to see 190"
Wow, that's bearish, lol
Hope I am wrong but unless something major goes wrong then I can't see a return to the 190 mark, worst is behind us! IMO
Seems market is favouring EJ to have the better outcome from the travel news, IAG stuck but Easy taking off, I went all in, already have a respectful profit from 1060ish. Next week if lucky, EJ and IAG will start swinging about out of sync - what I was hoping for last week or the week before. The very important news is going to be good day trading if you can get on the right side of the wave. Yes, sundezena, was sitting on hands and holding a few shares so no opportunity to buy sub 200, however more than made up for with EJ, and I will expect to see 190- to plough everything in ahead of US moving to green list [and PCR being withdrawn I hope].
Most European countries in green list by 28th June and US too so share prices will do well. EZJ is planning on a strong summer and plans to operate most of the flights from August to October in my opinion. IAG will be doing the same. From now until the end of June we won't see much happening with regards to number of passengers for both. But share prices are always forward looking. BIGBLUE you should have bought more at £1.90 like I did a few weeks ago. DYOR.
Other rationale, if the US was to be on the green list I would have expected echoes around the corridors on both side of the pond and certainly open talk from the US and the sp a few percent up at least.
So all in Easy Jet to Monday morning, then quick sell and jump into IAG as it bottoms out [if US amber] early next week.
World domination from the wicker chair continues apace......
Personally, I don't think the PCR will be an issue for IAG.
The money people are willing to spend to travel to the US/ Caribbean makes the £100 a drop in the ocean.
The PCR issue will hurt the EU market a lot more as people wont wont to spend more on tests than the flight itself!
I understand Portland. I am actually thinking of all in Easy Jet for a couple of days as I don't expect the PCR to be withdrawn but there maybe a price reduction initiative such as VAT zero rating on cost plus price capping introduced. Might even be reduced to just one PCR. That will get a few more travellers to the islands which are being heavily trailed as the first on the green list. And if US is on amber list then the full drop in IAG sp should lag a quick spike in Easy Jet. If US on green list then I will at least have a spike from Easy Jet.
Big-Blue - The PC Agency are often discussed on the BA gold group on facebook.
He has a lot of respect from the industry and travellers as he often gets his predictions right! (last year he seemed to know each country which was about to open/ get kicked off the safe list etc before anyone else!)

mmmmm.... I'm not sure how much weight I will put on this. At first sight it almost makes one reach for the buy button. But then checking out who this is, they are not an insider in Washington or London so I am not sure. All the Downing Street press conferences are at 5pm so I don't see any special circumstance here.
Whether I am right or wrong, I don't really care. I will make more money another time to add to the obscene amounts already banked. Green or Amber? Oooohhhhhhhh the wait in so exciting.
only going down a bit due to jobs report just out. Not a big deal.
Pasted below is a tweet from the Paul Charles Agency twitter account. Reading between the lines the US may be announce a reciprocal UK US corridor. Really hope this is the case. GLA
'I understand that the reason for a 5pm press conference to announce the traffic lights is because it is 12 midday Washington time and enables the #USA to also announce a green re-opening. More to follow.
@ThePCAgency'
I'm with you D9, the US will be on the greenlist, we will probably not be on theres for a few weeks but even still, the pent up demand is huge and premium seats are being sold for high amounts (for all airlines) from now till September
No matter what they say this afternoon, IAG is ramping up number of flights and I guess they will only be operating profitable flights at first so cash burn will diminish, i guess that's why share price has not gone down because the worst is behind now. Furlough in till September so they can be flexible. This share is going only one way medium -long term but the important thing is to make some money on the way. Expect share price to jump on Monday. All IMO.
Big buyer pushes sp up a tick or two
07-May-21 12:47:57 206.80 1 Buy* 206.75 206.80 2.07
Which comes after the market closed today. A guessing game the main one for me will US be on the initial green list.
I think with the market sensitive data on this one a full embargo on all those in the meeting will be applied. Not a single utterance ahead of the transport minister statement. Even a very minor leak would be a sack-able offence and would certainly trigger an FCC investigation. Markets are hanging on the travel list news.
where from, normally the telegraph have a leak by now but cant find a thing!
leak coming!!
I don't think the markets were in any way bothered by the Q1 results as there is no secret about number of flights, the cash burn reduction was pre-announced as a plan previously (but good to see achieved) and the cargo is good but the revenue net quite small for converted aircraft.
The market is waiting for one piece of news only. Where will green flights be going and will the PCR be removed from green routes. All the CEOs of all the airlines operating with significant assets out of the UK have been screaming louder and louder about it. The fact IAG chairman is still making pointed comments in Q1 results that they have no idea what to prepare for tells me the opening up of travel will be very limited, but I suspect there maybe an interim review date before June 17th . I can not see how the US will be listed Green initially now.
So if the sp can get down to the 180s after the news is known, probably first 5 mins Monday, then I will be all in.
Hotdogs, love the name!! Good post below, IAG has a well trimmed airline going forward, the only way is up from here, assuming no curve balls my own target for end of this year is 300. I'm confident we can achieve that, if US opens up I think we will heading easily towards 250 mark. Longterm holders here are laughing, a very well run organisation and with less competition, Air Europa in the mix too, a much trimmer airline, this company will be one of the stars of the FTSE100 in the months ahead!! I remain invested here, GL All!!
Markets will be pricing in the US corridor plus EU opening up, so atm can only see the do going one way.. all we need is an update regarding the dates, even if it’s delayed until June, I can see the sp easily above £3 by the end of Q3
The big thing was cash burn which has significantly reduced. Markets saying 2019 pre covid levels won’t be back till 2026 .... I still think this share will be a resilient buy. Pay scales for top earners have to be u see the spot light and working conditions for front line staff are going to be squeezed to the core . The sp didn’t fall off a cliff this morn which is good news
