Short Haul Ryanair and Easyjet will be severely affected because of the cost of this new rule. The cost of testing will be 4 or 5 times the cost of a flight and no guarantee to be back for Xmas! If you’re going away long haul for Xmas, different story. I for one would pay to get out of the madness in the UK.
robb, it tells you that I keep a 360 and watch my back. It tells you I don't sit back complacent and wish things to be better. It means I look to keep one step ahead and prepared to reduce risk. Starry eyed rainbow chasers never win on stock markets; cautions worst case scenario traders might not always make a killing, but they never run out of KFC.
Fordm
Please bear in mind with BB he only ever posts negative comments and gloom , never positivity or optimism .
What does that tell you ?
I am thinking that the government want to be seen as doing something so that is what we have. It takes focus off electricity prices that have almost trebbled since the spring and will make everyone poorer over the next few years. In a couple of years time we will say , how on earth did we get into this mess .
big_blue, exactly as you say, they are looking to change habits, after 2 years (more than enough time) people do change habits. My wife is in marketing, strategy and consumer insights business, she told me a long time ago (pre-panicdemic) that it takes very little to tweak consumer habits and create new ones, without much effort, as long as you tell the consumer that it has benefits that impact them.
Look how that has worked out for all these governments in consumer driven countries, now look how this same panicdemic has affected India, Somalia, Laos, and any other coutnry where the citizens have no access to marketing.
Travel has been used before as a lab rat laboratory and this smacks of it all over again. Scientists pushed for this on the basis the information would be 'useful'. It also plays very much to the nudge theory manipulation to actively sabotage the industry which i am pretty sure is an ongoing campaign to try and change peoples habits and expectations of free travel all in the cause of environmentalism. We have a highly susceptible government that is implementing society dissolving policies that should never get past a small protesters placade. This government must fall and be replaced. I wonder if the replacement has yet to be formed as a political party. But this madness has got to be stopped before we have complete economic collapse.
This time round though the idiot smack heads in government have grossly underestimated the reaction.
I think if you are in this for the long term, you should just switch off and tune out all the white noise coming from weak pathetic governments (the UK especially) as they never want this to end, but it will. The SP will go down and eventually rise up. The stress that these moronic governments do peddling their fear-mongering and panic is beyond a joke. It just shows us their true colours ans where their paymasters are.
I heard on the news today that governments are being 'pressured' to add more restrictions, I'm thinking who pressured them? Us the people? no that is not true.. oh, wait, big corp is their daddy, so they listen to corporations, not the people, how silly of me, I forgot!
Sundunce is 200p arriving tomorrow?
More cost. More hassle. Another day of utter nonsense.
What is the government not telling us.
What a complete feck up, instead of concentrating on get the minority vaccinated he penalises the vaccinated. In Italy if you don’t have a Covid pass you cannot enter restaurants, bars and hotels which is why they are on top of it. Italians can fly all around Europe without tests, what do we do take a fecking sledge hammer to crack a walnut, this government is completely clueless. The Covid test to get back in Blighty is going to affect the travel industry, I was due to go to Spain next week but my wife does not fancy a positive test two weeks before Christmas. Nine out of 10 patients in the UK who require artificial breathing capacity following Covid are unvaccinated, BJ get a fecking grip.
We should be moving to no tests, to living with covid. This is designed to sabotage travel and shows the policy direction is exactly the wrong way round. This is a very bad move.
I don’t see a problem with a LFT before I fly. £20. So what. It will give me a lot more confidence to fly then everyone just going on with no checks. Maybe the market will like it as well?? Let’s see?
I’m assuming the doom and gloom mongers are holding short positions. The idea that this is going to tank ‘whatever the news’ is frankly beyond ridiculous. It’s hardly surprising some speculators lose their money, if they believe their own ludicrous hype. For the record I have topped up on Friday, and should it fall much further, will look forward to doing so again.
@ Oracle Shouldn't you change your name to the Novitiate! since your un-foundered opinion is about as useful as Nostrodamus.
GLA
lol Oracle, out of actual news stories so instead just resort to saying it MIGHT happen, so everyone should sell at a loss. You cant find a half baked scare story on the BBC you can hype?
Zoom and other stay at home stocks taking a beating, guess we're on the other side of that trade. Hopefully a sign the markets shrugging off the pandemic. Roo and just eat also taking a tanking.
That's That's good point yidade, maybe like th flu bug.. but a weaker form of covid.. infact it could end up like a concentrated drink.. and dilutes over time becoming weaker but still clouds the water...
I note that in a lot of publications talking about the mild symptoms etc they use stock pictures of heavily ppe'd health carers with some incubated cadava surrounded by mountains of redundant medical equipment - some of it even turned on! How about the same article use someone looking a bit dopey with a red nose in pjs instead?
Which is what we've all known all along, the virus either mutates to become more transmissible or more deadly, not both.

So so payroll
Oh crap, what will MSM do now, their world will melt...
Is this the nasty surprise?

Very obvious to me at least that IAG is about to drop like a stone..holding over the weekend may turn out to be a big mistake..be under no illusions this is going to tank whatever news emerges....imo
