Personal thoughts are that this is a short term blip and people having experienced the chaos of staying at home for vacations is not an option. The UK cannot handle 50 million tourists plus all the hotels etc in UK were expensive and so not appealing to go back. I am in the Ski industry and people are bursting to get away at the seams! It didnt help with false information about quarantine in Switzerland if you are travelling through but essentially, anyone skiing in France, I know the slopes are open from this weekend after amazing snow. IAG shares will stall and not explode for another couple of weeks IMO but again I feel that the current restrictions are for governments to get their ducks in line, to get hospitals empty ready for the influx of winter illnesses like flu which seemed to disappear. Also, they panicked on this winter weather they are having. Its loads of nonsense but then I am bias being in the industry.... have a nice day everyone
oh and, no pal, never had an investment in tcg on it's demise.
"Fugazi is it true you lost a fortune on Thomas Cook? Hence why you hate airlines? But you have a business in the Mediterranean, kinda counter productive to that business?"
LOL, I watched TCG collapse - i don't hate airlines at all.
Fugo is correct they have gone up but they increased last Wednesday and Friday, to be fair most people on here thought it was going to be Nuclear on Friday, no changes today though. IMO a 3% short is nothing to be worried about.
I agree - big over reaction by government and unfair on uk businesses
Incidentally Shorts are up a lot today
Rr up in America so could be ok tomorrow
That was BJ doing the obvious after the India fiasco.
Covid deaths falling continuously - very strange the Gov panics the population
I really hope so OldSid as I bought more today, having started a position again on Friday.
137 on the after hours auction so might be ok for tomorrow’s open correct me if I’m wrong as I really don’t know if that’s the case.
It looks like the transformer virus now has made it to North America. Since it's everywhere, no point shutting the doors now and we might as well re-start the flights to S.Africa.

My concern now is , even though sleepy joe states no travel restrictions, the damage is already set in UK.
The public are likely pi55 ed off again with uncertainty of tests, red lists, and could where they fly to promptly go onto a red list if cases rise.
My gut feeling at the moment, is 2022 is going to be another stay at home vacation after it promising to be a good year ahead.
soz bud frustrated with this sp i knew it was coming but hell not drop so quick i got most of my shares out now looking for long term investment . may be enter in at 110 p thoughts
mararab, don't hold back pal! lol ;-)
Fugazi1 and the rest make me laugh . Listen the gov have been proactive this time and you slate them . Before you slated them because they the vaccine in via flights . Now shut the crap up you whinging lot of people and smell the coffee .This sp is going to 100 p and will take 3-4 years to recover above 300 p may be more , so yes long term investment good , short term look elseware . Now going to have my dinner .Load of whinging muppets
Lots of common sense spoken in here today well done lads keep it up brilliant!!!
No need for lockdowns, Biden says
Asked if lockdowns are off the table, the US president says: "Yes for now. If people are vaccinated and able to wear a mask there's no need for lockdowns."
Pressed on if this is the "new normal" and if he's anticipating future variants, Joe Biden says: "The answer is I expect this not to be the new normal. I expect the new normal to be everyone gets vaccinated with booster shots."
And pressed on if he's considering additional travel restrictions where it's been detected – in countries such as the UK – he says he doesn't anticipate that at this point, but we'll see whether that works.
Problem is Britain, they are knee jerking, driven by leaders of devolved countries wanting everyone in near house arrest.
A reassuring PC from Uncle Joe, there will be no
Knee jerk reactions from the USA.
Obviously, The important factor today was that the share did not bomb, it doesn’t take too much sentiment/news to create FUD with this share. Let’s see what Uncle Joe has to say. Once it is confirmed that the symptoms are mild or current vaccines prevent serious illness it will rip.
This person agrees with you on Face masks, Big Blue

Looks like the book was just about balanced today. I should have listened to myself and dumped everything when they were all 5% up. Buy back after the fall. Easy J results might have a significant effect leveraging the sector against the backdrop of the panic reaction. SA working hard to 'educate' the world. Too many countries still look like they are trying to control the spread of a virus. Unbelievable.
