FS22,
Oh Jayzoos, now we're being a reading-recommendation that EVERYONE with any interest in the stockmarket, engineering, or general knowledge ought to have on their shelves.
And if they don't, they shouldn't use the phrase 'black swan event'.
" still 18hours left; tick-tock, tick-tock, tick." (FS22, 18:27)
Yeah, just about when I'll be entering the casino at Royan. Ten days ago I was witness to an amazing hand: quad Aces beating quad Kings. Go figure the odds against that. Billions to one.
Black swans exist. But don't sweat it. I haven't taken out insurance for my house not being hit by a comet.

Wellwell,
"It’s bad form to mock."
It depends on the circumstances. But when a self-publicising smarta** makes an idiot of themselves, mocks the company by (against advice by people who've been posting here for far longer than he) by referring to Dr Trice as 'Dr Rock' and HUR as 'HE', and also suggests the company doesn't know what it's doing and he could plan things better, then I'll mock as much as I like.
I strongly suspect that FS22 is either a student doing a Pet. Eng. degree, or is already a very low-echelon PE already. Knows the lingo, likes showing off.
A way he could redeem himself might be to stop using mathematical signs as abbreviations, learning how to conjugate the verb 'to be', in his posts, and discover the use of the indefinite pronoun.
His posts read like military orders, with the 'authority' that those imply. However, the oilpatch isn't the army
Perhaps fs22 could do something useful; search for where the wind goes when it stops blowing. or something really technical such as looking for the iceberg that sank the Titanic.
It’s bad form to mock. Let’s move on.
FS22,
" Someone else can entertain tomorrow..."
Yours will be a hard comedy act to follow.
Shame you didn't go into more detail. I mean, Scheihallion has water-injection wells to help maintain reservoir pressure. So maybe BP is BUYING tanker-loads of water from HUR to pump down there.
Despite their vessel being surrounded by ocean.
Hey! It'd be a good ramp...
Let's all hope topic of LC can finally start tomorrow, this fried SP and lack of RNSs is not helping anyone. SN can then sale into distant memory - a ghost ship, aboard just the wise Owl and a pussy Cat. Someone else can entertain tomorrow...
Hi treaty,
Why go to someone knowledgeable when we clearly have so many 'experts' available already ?
ATB
Maybe Doctor rocks at HE has the answer:)
F22, keep digging and you may even find oil yourself , your posts are making less sense and what you are suggesting is complete bafoonery at best. You are wrong on so many counts, unfortunately I do not have the time or the crayons needed to explain the reasons to you.
FS22,
"...so after three cups of tea"
I thought the Standard Unit of Measure for the stuff you're obviously indulging in was ounces, not cupfuls.
" can export (option) PW from AM, and then may be re-injecting into Glen Lyon PWRI wells as more costly to environment to treat onshore!"
" Are the PW to sea regulations in-place on AM?"
Yes.
" ...is oil being taken to Sullom Voe with Schiehallion oil?"
No.
Honestly, are you writing this from the Edinburgh Fringe as a comedy act?
I didn't know there was a GCSE Petroleum Engineering course: one in which one could pick up a bit of the lingo without having a clue what it means...
In your case, FF22, I'd advise laying off the 'tea' and start taking the tablets instead. Your cover's well and truly blown.
All this talk about water and chucking it overboard and having just read a piece in the paper about a royal quack selling 'tincture of berlin wall' at £72 per 100ml we should have a bottling plant on the AM and sell Hurricane Force Water, more revenue than the oil!
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/homeopathy-remedy-using-berlin-wall-has-royal-approval-ffngh5wm3
Prof Ernst explained that pieces of the Berlin Wall are ground down and mixed with lactose before being diluted multiple times until they are soluble.
The final product does not contain a “single molecule from the wall”, but is believed to contain its essence, Prof Ernst said.
He added: “Homeopaths do not believe it is a pharmacological action, but it is a sort of vital force that is acting.Ainsworths sells the Berlin Wall remedy on its website, costing £4.20 for a 1g vial of lactose tablets, up to £72 for 100ml in liquid potency (% alcohol). It holds a Royal Warrant from the Queen and the Prince of Wales, who is also patron of the Faculty of Homeopathy.
'..This treatment process may also be followed if the quantity of produced water is particularly low. There are lower limits imposed by equipment, below which they cannot maintain efficiency or ensure required specifications are met. Although there is some room for adaptations to be made in the hydrocyclone system, the produced water processing equipment described above will not be able to ensure the effective reduction of oil concentrations at very low volumes. As already explained, the volumes of water produced during operations in the Lancaster field are expected to be minimal, so this option may be followed if any water is seen at surface.' ..low water cut => poor AM equipment functionality.
...so after three cups of tea - plus few associated loo breaks => can export (option) PW from AM, and then may be re-injecting into Glen Lyon PWRI wells as more costly to environment to treat onshore! Are the PW to sea regulations in-place on AM? ...is oil being taken to Sullom Voe with Schiehallion oil? - still 18hours left; tick-tock, tick-tock, tick.
'.. in the worst case production scenario, where the levels of production are predicted to drop off within the life of the EPS development, produced water may be seen at the surface. This could happen if water was to break into the oil reservoir, which is very unlikely. ...It should be borne in mind that even under worst case predictions, produced water is only anticipated to appear in year 4 of the up to six year development and then decline again.' YEAR 4!
...'An application to discharge oil must describe the nature and quantity of the oil source, as well as details of any processes designed to reduce oil content of the discharge and methods for the monitoring and analysis. It must also provide a discussion of the potential options for treatment and discharge of the oil, justifying the selected route as the best available option.'
...'if it is encountered, the produced water will be processed to reduce the oil content and discharged to sea, with prior approval under the OPPC Regulations. Further details on potential oily discharges are provided in the respective sections of the project description (Section 3) and relevant impact section (Section 9).' has OPPC approval been granted?
Section 3: 'All produced water discharges will be treated to a maximum oil concentration of 30 mg/l on average.' ..'Prior to discharge to sea, the oil-in-water content of the produced water will be determined by an integrated analyser located at the outlet from the water coolers. The analyser has a divert system so, if the dispersed oil concentration exceeds 30 mg/l, produced water will be diverted to the vessels slops tanks.' ...'if the quantity of water of produced is particularly low. Discharges from the slops tank will be treated to attain an oil in water content of 15 ppm, in line with the relevant Merchant Shipping regulations, and the concentration and volume will also be monitored.'
Section 9 '..onshore treatment and disposal will be retained as an option in this case, for example, issues are encountered with offshore processing equipment (Section 9.6.4), the discharge of processed produced water to sea was considered to be the more viable option, both technically and economically.' option provided for worst case!
PLOT THICKENS!
' The new FPSO serving these BP operated fields, the Glen Lyon, has been designed to handle significant quantities of produced water. During the development planning stages, produced water was expected to increase steadily over the first 10 years of production to 45,000 m3 per day, and then remain at that level for a further 10 years (BP, 2010). However, the significant quantities of produced water expected prompted the design of a re-injection system, utilising water injection wells already in place. By being able to re-inject produced water from the outset of production, any required produced water discharges to sea will be intermittent and only associated with downtime in the system.'
Cebo - guess you called it correct.
"The current tanker will not, NOT be unloading Oil, Water, Gas, Diamonds, Gold or any other substance, it will be out there, IMO, conducting routing trials - probably before moving to one of the other BP FPSOs WoS tomorrow to do a full offload. EndEx"
Thanks Robbie, looks like a nice boat.
The Schiehallion oilfield FPSO:
The Glen Lyon began producing on 15th May 2017.
Thanks Jiffy, every day is a learning day - so not to the shetlands after all then?
The tanker won't be for water. IMHO
Produced water is dumped overboard, it doesn't go in a tanker. 30ppm is the legal limit that ur allowed to put into the sea, if it gets to 100ppm it's classed as a PON1 (oil spill) which is reportable to DECC or what ever they're called now. All the operator has to do is increase the water overboard sampling frequency, if it goes above 30ppm, until it cleans up, the usual solutions are adjusting the chemical rates or controlling the oil/water interface levels during the separation process, if it doesn't clean up the operator is supposed to shut in the well until a solution is found.
Marine traffic has her heading somewhere called the Glen Lyon ???? EtA 22/8/19 1100hrs - isn't that a place in the highlands of Scotland ??? Any ideas? - maybe that's where they offload all the imaginary water
F22
That's BP's problem not HUR's.
Appreciate discussion is due to lack of any events.
With wide open stance, just commit and follow right through the shot in the sand and you will be fine.
FS22, here is a link to my copy, not sure that the ES is readily available elsewhere now ('though could be wrong). Plenty to wade through with a nice cup of tea.

..one last thought - may be it was bit of oil, taking it to Sullom Voe Oil Terminal. With no deal Brexit - Rotterdam would charge 5% tariff, so UK oil going only to UK terminal???
..off to practice my new sand wedge at the practice range!!
