Me too Dickbat..
You’re so right I started reading the first paragraph of simples and was so bored… I continue to watch paint dry!
pk - quite agree - all handbags at dawn already forgotten
Blue - you're a condescending fool to be ignored
Senseman I kept my posts balanced, in context and without bias of any kind. You have alleged I have taken a particular stance, suggested that I believe Ukraine should have
'surrendered from day 1' - Strange, as it has nothing to do with me what Ukraine should or shouldn't do.
'it is acceptable in today's world for a country to invade and seize another country by force' - Unlikely, as I'm a pacifist.
Quote "intelligence is the ability to correctly identify the essence of issues "
This is the problem, I have asked a specific question and it has been sidestepped with further diatribe with baseless allegations with no answer forthcoming. My question was - Why are we involving ourselves with Ukraine/Russian politics anyway? I don't see your answer to the question anywhere within your reply.
"and on the 'legal' front, in 1994 russia, usa and uk signed the Budapest Memorandum guaranteeing Ukraine's sovereignty if it surrendered it's nuclear arsenal."
Except we're not. I can only assume you haven't read the contents of the 3 agreements relating to the accession of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons that make up the Budapest memorandum. Russia first broke its commitments under the Budapest Memorandum in 2014, with its annexation of Crimea and aggression in eastern Ukraine. so if indeed you're suggesting we have come to the aid of Ukraine due to a breach of the memorandum why has it taken eight years?
"i will gladly shut up re politics - if others do so! - "
Agreed.
I respectfully disagree with your politics, but that's of no consequence here. At no point have my comments been designed as an attack on you. Sorry if you've read anything in to them that made you feel attacked.
Keep up the good HUR work.
euston - yes. apology - crowded mind. onwards & upwards..)
Sense........I have always supported and praised your efforts over the recent HUR fiasco. Again well done and a big thank you from me. Simple is simply a pita and I just ignore him now. Regarding your answer to me.......should 2002 read 2022? .
oh dear - people do seem intent on continuing with the politics and attacking me - even though i did not start the discussion & I've indicated am quite happy to move on...)
1. i didn't start the politics - others did by stating/indicating it was ok for india to buy cheap russia oil
2. the logical consequence of the drivel some have written is that
(a) we have no obligation to ukraine and ukraine should have surrendered on day 1. even though it is now crystal clear that if it had, once ukraine was occupied and russified, russia would have left it 12 months and done the same again with other country(s).
(b) it is acceptable in today's world for a country to invade and seize another country by force (+ as many others it fancies afterwards)
(c) it is ok for any country to buy cheap russia oil - even though the uk is, for good reason, not doing so.
(d) it is a fair argument to say that because this or that country did so in the past, it is acceptable for a country to do similar now
intelligence is the ability to correctly identify the essence of issues - sadly lacking in some here (the usual suspects)
the moral and pragmatic world obligations are self evident
and on the 'legal' front, in 1994 russia, usa and uk signed the Budapest Memorandum guaranteeing Ukraine's sovereignty if it surrendered it's nuclear arsenal. russia welshed on that agreement. belatedly the usa & uk are upholding their obligations to ukraine
i will gladly shut up re politics - if others do so!
Fella, I've not attacked you at all! You off the gaslighting chart with your re-imagined facts!
I've said your a very respectable poster on HUR and that you should just avoid the politics. It's good advice for everyone on their chats rooms.
I still respect your HUR posts... Stick to those.
PK
senseman - For a person that claims your expertise is world affairs and politics rather than oil; and further you claim to have been under pressure to complete an article at the time of posting your diatribe, your posts appear to be filled with bias, half truths and propaganda whilst missing out an awful lot of factual information that gives both context and produces balance. Journalism’s first obligation is to the truth. Democracy depends on citizens having reliable, accurate facts put in a meaningful context. If however, as you suggest, your expertise is world affairs and politics rather than oil, as have been suggested by others a BB with regards to world affairs and politics would be more suited to your attendance rather than a company BB specialising in oil. Just a thought...
pk - you keep attacking me without good reason. so i defend myself. and will continue as long as you do. i reject entirely your invalid comment.
Dude, me neither.
You keep coming back with more and more unnecessary aggression, schoolyard insults and mudslinging... capitals this time. What's wrong with you?
Euston - Nope, nope and thrice nope.
pk - i hate to point out, YET AGAIN, that it was NOT I who instigates that discussion. i do wish that peeps would take note of who starts stuff
" if it's ok for india to soak up cheap russia oil - why is not the uk doing so and what would posters say if we did?"
Boris took a line and fell in favour of Ukraine so it would be difficult for the government to reverse its position, especially with the amount of time and money its spent to favour Ukraine's military. If, however the UK did choose to buy Russian oil & gas I think that the nation would squirm between being offended due to all the adverse propaganda they have been subjected to over the last few months, making out Putin is the bogeyman, to abject relief that their energy bills are falling back to normality.
It's strange that you haven't mentioned that the EU are continuing to buy Russian oil & gas and that although it/they made promises to stop, the cut off point follows delay after delay, falling further and further away. Nor, of course, have you mentioned that the lead alternative supply is Saudi from which we buy huge amounts from which have committed the worst/most human rights abuses in the world including mass regular executions for many years and continue to do so. According to Human Rights Watch more human Rights abuses and executions of dissidents by the Riyadh criminal courts have taken place over this year than people have been killed during the war in Ukraine. Now that somebody has bowed down and answered your question how about you answering mine posted on Sun 00:48
morning euston - being a man of reason, perhaps you can kick us off with today's guesses:-
here's one to stave off the boredom (just for fun):-
with likely near 7p a share in the bank by end 2002, and another 6p for 2023 if oils stays $100, and taking account of tax credits circa 14p (say 6p for buyer discount), if any offer was made say by dec 22, what do peeps think would:- (a) be fair & acceptable? (b) would be accepted by the BoD? (ie: not what they should accept, but what one think's they would)
Sense, I think nobody's responded to your very valid discussion point because it doesn't belong here and people have got better things to do with their time than receive a tongue lashing from a faceless moniker on a random chat room for having a different, probably quite informed opinion based on their situation, conditioning, values, upbringing and experiences. These side-line argumentative posts don't belong here, fella. Give it a rest and get back to HUR chat where you are respected.
Good luck with the article. ATB, PK.
Anyway !!!!! Getting back to what this board is about........any news on how this share will perform over the next couple of months? Any relevant news from the HUR board?.
pk - not a drink all evening - just posting whilst writing an article for a deadline - never a good idea. you are quite correct - the guy is the indian pm's brightest mouthpiece - my brain was rushing through too many things at once. but that is detail - my substantive point stands. and not 'ranting' at all, thank you. merely not letting drivel go unaddressed. i note that no one has addressed the reasonable question - if it's ok for india to soak up cheap russia oil - why is not the uk doing so and what would posters say if we did? the answer is because we think it's wrong and uk joe public would not let politicians do so unscathed.
littlened - Whether they have it or not doesn't answer my question.
Senseman - Your abusive/disruptive posts towards other posters this morning smacks of embarrassment over what you wrote earlier whilst under the influence of alcohol in the hope that if enough of your posts get reported the thread will disappear and along with them your shame. Good luck with that.
It doesnt matter when Ukraine acheived independence. They did and it was what they wanted.End of discussion
i agree - you need treatment for your syndrome
Attention syndrome emerging again..... tsk, tsk......
What people think of you, or I, is of no relevance whatsoever.
then you'd best get out of the kitchen, Dalt. you're not fit to wipe my nor numerous others' boots. you're in at 45p yet constantly deride posters who have done their level best to protect HUR from disaster. are you so stupid that you think others' haven't noticed??
should read.. 'more than Daltry's political view...'
