Tardigrade,
"Trump and Khamenei seem to be on the brink of war."
So bring it on! If the 'targets' become refineries and oilfields rather than hospitals, schools, and civilian vegetable-markets, the result might be rather fun to watch.
Albi1,
" Russia and China, they're definitely acting together. "
Yup. Perfect timing, as well. Plus Shanghai now deals in crude based on gold value, as well.
Waterbear,
"Iran are forced into a corner. Their leadership is under question from the outside world."
I beg to differ from your viewpoint. What exactly is this 'outside world' to which you refer? One of Jupiter's moons, or something like that?
I personally question the sanity of the current 'leader' of the glorious US of A. The idea of that person jetting around the world with the capacity to unleash nuclear war at the push of a button seems a little bit frightening to me. Or rather, not 'frightening', just daft. If he presses the button, I want to be at ground zero, 'cos I won't feel a thing.
At least Iran's leaders (no more mentally stable, admittedly) are consistent in their madness.
What will really make me grin is if they wait 'til that refinery is 80% back up and running, and they go bomb the place again!
PS I live in France. And have been listening to the radio news while putting another 500 km road-miles under my belt today. And what have our glorious lords and masters this side of the channel announced on the back of the news from the KSA? That fuel prices at the pumps will be increased by 5 centimes, if not Wednesday, then Thursday.
Yeah, right. And exactly how much Saudi heavy crude gets distilled into petrol and diesel, pray?
'Leadership' indeed... If you 'vote' for these nutters, don't expect common sense...
OK, and seriously, kind of, so don't want to think like this, however, Russia and China, they're definitely acting together. Anything Iran does to provoke the West, anything odd going on with elections here or in the USA ... Interesting to look at the Chinese 'Belt and Road Plan'

Then look at the strategic ports they now have control of.

I don't speak Mandarin yet, but might be something on my study list ...
I sincerely hope this whole situation does not literally explode. Whilst the ‘outage’ might seem to some like a ‘good’ thing and perversely welcome news to others on first assumptions, the situation is dangerously precarious to say the least.
I’m not religious, but I’m praying it is resolved peacefully. It needs calm, sensible heads.....
Darkknight,
Former USA Gov guy said 6 months, really? Any chance you can share the link? That's rather good news for us (with apologies and respect) at this juncture!
Dark Knight, Right, my first name's not Luke and my skin isn't green, but observing the ****y shorting plays on here - the market was ready to hit decline mode - USA interest rates cut, Chinese / USA trade thing, blah, blah, blah - if the KSA thing hadn't happened the lovely shorters would have run us down for a while and eventually we'd bounce up again. The image of a Weeble (for those who were children in the 70s) comes to mind - it wobbles but it never falls down!
Candydog, take the strange events of the weekend as a blessing - odd and counterintuitive as it seems - and watch the price steadily rise for the next few days - weeks - months. DST in December - game change time.
Well Candydog it's all you got, just a little nudge that is!
Personally I'm just ecstatic it's not red because when I looked earlier it was. Only HUR could be red when all around is a sea of blue!!
So, in short, whilst it's not much it's better than red and it was OVER a whole one percent!! Result!!
HUR achievement over the last year - 1
Living upto the hype - 0
Taking the patience of 3 saints to stay positive. Only want a little nudge upwards, just a little one, not asking for much. :(
US markets open and most O&G shares are though the roof!!!!! And HUR? All of 1%. A shocking performance - especially after the prior recent disappointment. I'm really ticked off and I don't even have a large holding anymor. Many LT investors have had a quasi- love affair with HUR and all its promises for years - I suggest it's time to take on another mistress (and a RDS or BP if it must be in the O&G sector).
The obvious one is that the II's are better informed than we are.
candydog no idea why we didn't move much... anyone have any ideas or theories ? surely must be some clever jedi type person here who can shed some light and wisdom ?
Yes; also the many Hur traders, some of whom were honest about their poo play this- morning.
Gla.
Dark Knight.

We need you to get me back in the game."

F2 agreed months, former usa gov guy said 6months at least.
..how long did that usa facility take to bring online ? I know it is different situation but it was still a massive fire.
If you're talking about Texas City (or most other petro chem fires) It is a different situation, mainly as any repair work would'nt be able to start until the cause had been determined. With the Saudi fire, the cause is known so could be a tadge quicker, but without knowing the extentent of damage (which again will take some time) I'd still guess we're looking at months (plural) rather than weeks (plural)
holy heavens above... lord oh mighty ! I am falling off my chair.... I am now so rich I can afford 1£ pick and mix.... happy days !!!! Hur 1% up !!!
I hope Friday will be a good update. Do you guys think that the big funds are still taking profit and selling some of their shares ?
Dark Knight
Unfortunately that's politics the world over these days or has it always been so. I'm happy to see the SP rise, only thing is will be harder to work out if part of that rise is being driven by expected additional positive news on Friday when interim results are announced! Still holding and keeping fingers crossed.
no alibi1 lol I meant the government i.e. royals ... not the ordinary Joe Bloggs lol
Beerbull I know what you meant lol My older brother uses the same expression all the time lol relax man... lol
Final comment on nuking the ME, I didn’t mean it literally for F’ sake. Just saying the irreconcilable differences will never get settled, short of.... They are non negotiable & intractable. Hope this settles it. As an aside having visited Hiroshima & seen first hand the even worse after effects I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy. Hope that’s finally nailed it !
Great rugby player Parisi, but isn’t he italian. Probably getting bit off field with that, but can’t wait for the rugby World Cup to kickoff...
Dark Knight
Patience goes a long way, agreed. Perhaps it is a little unfair to label the entire population of Saudi as liars!
