couple that with mammoth trumps and Bob's your uncle .....a km of ice over my house .
Thatās right caveman back in the day burned heaps of hydrocarbons, there were billions of them and the intensively farmed.
climate change is an industry , yes a lot of people are making money from it , a lot of tax being raised in the name of it. All I can say is them there cave men must have had some eff off campfires to bring on the last ice age .
China will be building an additional 215 airports in the next sixteen years, we can't even build one additional runway!

Poor little Greta Thunderbird has her work cut out but she won't be doing it in China!

āor may be she is being used by her parents, left wing groups book publishing agencies and politiciansā
There is no maybe. She is being used and according to todays Sunday Times article for financial gain.
If you have, or can get access it is worth a read:

Hey, you guys know how to enjoy yourselves over the weekend - on a BB discussing a 16 year old child who may be doing an outstanding job raising real life issues , or may be she is being used by her parents, left wing groups book publishing agencies and politicians due to the young girls serious and well publicised issues - and if that is not exciting enough we have moved on to, wait for it, cavity wall and loft insulation - I can hardly contain my excitement. I really need to re-schedule more of my weekend family and social time to allow more time posting here. I think that if we can justify how those subjects are loosely linked to Hurricane Energy then perhaps LSE Admin will allow us to continue those debates on all five trading days next week.

Hi wellwell,
Some people are irritated by 'virtue-signalling' eg Emma Thomson and the Sussexes pontificating about the climate before continuing merrily on their (literally jet-set) ostentatiously consumerist lifestyle.
Others question the direction of efforts at mitigation. Leave aside the inconsistency of little Greta sailing to the US/UN 'frugally' whilst her yachtcrew jet to and fro to make this possible, we seem willing collectively to accept other inconsistencies.
Consider the unsexy subject of home insulation on the UK, for instance, where it should be possible to (a) reduce demand for energy (however generated) AND (b) improve people's quality of life :
ā¦"Although the number of homes being insulated may have increased, DECC have also highlighted the number of homes, or remaining potential, that could still benefit from insulation. The estimates show that at the start of July 2012 there were 5.6m cavity wall properties remaining to be insulated - 30 % of all homes with cavity walls. Of solid wall properties, 97% remain untreated and of homes with lofts, 35% are uninsulated...."
https://www.theguardian.com/news/datablog/2012/sep/26/homes-energy-loft-insulation
With 23.4 m houses having lofts, that's a not-inconsiderable 8.2 m households in the UK that AREN'T INSULATED, FFS.
It shouldn't be beyond our collective wit to find a solution to this shameful situation, that would make a TANGIBLE and PRACTICAL contribution to the issue.
A test that an awful lot of the current pontification signally fails to pass.
ATB
SIPP āAnd to hear wellwell on here pontificating And spouting ****e and then doing the very thing he is advocating against, is laughable.ā
This is the kind of thing people like SIPP do. At no point was I pontificating about not flying and reducing my carbon footprint. I was defending a girl sailing to America to try and raise the climate action profile for the good of the planet as other undermine a young person, who like her peers will have to live with the consequences of our foolish disregard for the environment.
Undermine rather than understand.
They say you'll never see a Sikh beggar!
Klepto,
" If you go into any Gurdwara Sikh temple you will be given a free lunch or dinner and non alcoholic drinks. You wonāt be asked to pray or give a donation but will have to cover your hair with a bandana which they will provide for you."
That's really interesting: now I know where to head for when my money runs out!
But I'm not at all religiously inclined, so I feel I'd be 'imposing', or rather, begging.
But it reminds me of a similar thing. Many years ago, I was involved with a geothermal drilling operation in Kenya. And there were serious delays in getting the rig from Mombassa (the port) to the rift valley location, some 700 km distant. So I talked with my boss, pursuaded him someone had to go to Mombassa to get a wriggle on, so he proposed it to the assembled crew and of course I was the 'volunteer' chosen for this solo mission.
Which was a real adventure in itself.
About ten days later, everything but the final load (other than some bits and bobs) had got out, and that 'final load' was a thing called the 'SCR Unit', which looks like a 40ft shipping container with a lot of heavy-duty cables attached. But inside, it's terribly fragile, so we set a self-imposed 40 kph speed for the transport along the Mombassa-Nairobi highwar, one of the most dangerous and pothole-ridden roads on earth. 'Transport' was a Volvo T12 4x6 with the load on a 50ft 'lowboy' in tow. Which I ended up driving on the second and third day, the driver having come down with malaria.
Now 40kph is considered real SLOW for that road. So via the CB we became the talk of the town, especially when there was a 'wasungu' (white man: me!) at the wheel. We saw some horrific accidents on the journey.
We had a 'convoyer' driving in front in a Jeep Cherokee. Normally, I'd be supposed to ride with him, but from the outset I'd ridden in the truck at my own insistance. 40kph it was going to be.
The Kenyan 'convoy man' was a muslim.
We set out some very careful plans about waypoints and stop-overs, which of course got modified on the way, as the truckdriver (before I took over) spent three hours in a clinic getting medication and care, during which time I sat in a bar drinking beer (no breathalisers in Kenya!).
But at every 'waypoint stop', when I and the others went to a local eatery with whatever meat was on offer, (and beer), the muslim 'convoyer' sought out the mosque. Where he received a 'free lunch', rather as you've described.
I must admit, I found that rather impressive.
That little 'safari' remains a fond memory. Our little 'crew' of four got on well, despite many cultural differences, and the SCR Unit made it intact.
" carbon zero living "
Is an oxymoron. A contradiction in terms. Unless you come from the Zorch Galaxy and eat plutonium for dinner, that is.
All known living species on this planet are carbon-based lifeforms of some sort or another. Even if some of the simpler ones may not contain an atom of carbon in their rudimentary structure.
Wellwell,
"Iām not there yet with carbon zero living , none of us are, but we never used to give it a moments thought"
And as posted before, I still don't! When I fuel up my car I think about how much it costs, and then whether it's a 'good tankful'. (The quality of diesel can vary enormously, and shows up in fuel consumption.)
Although I have no proof for it, I'd submit that the vast majority of people in first-world countries (ie those being bombarded by this climate-change stuff on a daily basis via assorted media) don't give a hoot about their 'carbon footprint'. I'm also willing to bet that most people who buy electric cars very rarely make long journeys, and yes, for such people an electric car makes a lot of sense. They might get a warm 'green feeling' out of having done so, but the bottom line is probably their bank-balance, not 'saving the planet'.
Currently, there are 3 billion - read that, 3 billion - passengers flown annually. And that number will only increase.
And to hear wellwell on here pontificating And spouting ****e and then doing the very thing he is advocating against, is laughable.
Me? I fly regularly to far flung destinations but at least I don't say one thing and do another.
The planet is not in jeopardy. Civilisation might be, but not until oil runs out and that won't even be in our children's lifetime.
Hereth endeth the sermoneth.
Thank you and good night.
wellwell
I genuinely hope that you and you family enjoy your holiday in Florida, but you will be getting there and back by air. Do you really think that Miss Thunbergs publicity stunt is going to have any significant impact on the extent of world air travel?
As the less developed parts of the world continue to get richer they will want to spend that spare cash on lifeās little luxuries like foreign holidays that we in the developed world have been enjoying for so long. But no we say you have to reduce you carbon footprint. Do you think they will listen?
Are they listening in China?
https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/china-new-airports/index.html
Doesnāt look like it.
āendothelialā ?
Bloody autocorrect ...... grrrrrrrrr
āendothelialā = āendethā
As usual you and others are deliberately missing the point. Thatās fine.
wellwell is acting like a hypocritical tree hugging environmentalist NIMBY.
If āoff to Florida firstā is not being conducted by means of a sail powered longboat, and is in fact being performed by means of a Jet A-1 burning pressurised cigar tube with wings, then one could logically suggest that āhe who is without blame should cast the first stoneā.
And here endothelial the sermon for the evening.
Wow. I'm almost speechless, but not quite. That has to be the lamest comeback of all time.
But, good luck with your trip to Florida. Some serious carbon begging burned there. You are not even close to being there yet with carbon zero living. You are having a total giraffe.
The jury is no longer out. You are a total wind up merchant with an agenda. And an interesting c***to boot.
Great post SIPP. As deep as a spoon.
Probably yes. Great holiday. Off to Florida first. First time with the kids. Full monty.
Iām not there yet with carbon zero living , none of us are, but we never used to give it a moments thought yet here we are with people telling me to shut up.....yet thinking about it. Thatās a start and who knows where that can lead.
Wellwell, your last post was a bit random, do you have anything actually constructive to say or add?
No. I thought not.
So will you be holidaying at lake Garda again.
Yes
wellwell
As you have expressed so much support and admiration for Miss Thunberg has she persuaded you to change your carbon emitting habits?
Totally enthralled about the kakapo on the New Zealand documentary on BBC 4, worth a watch
Totally ambivalent to Greta Thunderbird. The world has gone mad and seriously needs to get a grip. So do you wellwell. Or stop investing in hydrocarbon companies. No. Just get a grip.
