Some nice momentum. But how much further has it got to go... Surely based on the figures not too much more!?
Very happy with my buy of 27000 shares at an average of 221. I asked a Director in a larger on line booking company his views. He says the margins are wafer thin compared with his company that is twice the size but his lost money last year! The reduction in marketing spend means much of the spend had been front loaded and will improve margins. But he concurs with many commentators. HSF have a market leading brand which others will be interested in buying but an improvement in margins is needed to make the figures add up to make a takeover worthwhile
Thanks. I concur with this assessment as these are the same group who made the switch to Uber, low fare airlines, and AirBnB. However, if you travel with work or you seek a more convivial atmosphere then you will prefer a nice, city central hostel over a suburban BnB.
Got a mention in an interesting article today, increasing appeal of upmarket hostels to wide range of people, not just millennials The sudden proliferation of these high-end hostels has caught the attention of travelers from all walks of life. According to global data from Hostelworld, the world's largest hostel booking engine, 9.3 percent of bookings are made by travelers age 41 and up; another 20 percent are between 31 and 40 years old. The most robust demographic at hostels in 2016 is not teens and backpackers fresh out of college; it’s young professionals in their late 20s. (They represent a bit more than 40 percent of hostel guests.) For those who are traveling alone, a hostel offers a more convivial work-trip experience than your average, corporate budget-approved Westin.
Yes, very happy today to see 190p. I am in this stock for the long term. I like to have a play in the sharing economy. This company seems to behave sensibly and is starting from a strong position. Looks like a good board. So I do expect higher in the future but like all stocks we are bound to see some volatility with the marketplace.
Looks like we got our rise. Will it go further? I would like to see this back in the 200s
Absolutely! Increased cash on the Balance Sheet, higher margins, low value assets written down, and...almost no debt. This board is not panicking and is moving with stealth. Next update I would like to see movement on increased sales, but it's good to see they are protecting an enviable balance sheet in a notoriously low margin environment. Numis reiterated their £3 price target this morning. That would mean a rise of 75% from today.
Nice update! Reduced revenue and average booking value both down against H1 2015, but EBITDA is still up against the same period last year! Should get an almighty rise today given how oversold this has been :)
A high this year of 300p and we are now roughly half that following a minor profit warning. Massively oversold in my opinion, so I'm expecting a good rise next week.
whats the sells for?
Tremendous support as we come up to the financial review date on Aug 26th. This stock is on its way to recovering to previous trajectory. Why? Because there wasn't sufficient reason for the stock to drop in the first place!
This recovery makes sense. There is no reason for resistance with this share price (none publicly available at least). I hope it is reflecting a good trading update in a few weeks, which I expect will likely to mirror the good fortunes of the low cost airlines, who have performed well since the initial Brexit drop. HSW is too geographically diversified to be affected by Brexit.
Some decent buying today driving price higher.
i shall have a few, looks a very good technical buy IMHO at this level seems to be ready for a rise.
I'm average about 209p on this one but think I'm going to top up, dividend yield is about 9% and I feel the sale has been well overdone.
Looks like someone has waited for long enough and thinks this sale has bottomed out? Lots of automated buying vs selling today. Per points in Cluedin post on 12 June '16 below there's no public reason for this low valuation. Just looked at the board experience, shareholder register and advisor lineup again. All proven. What's consensus - wait longer or buy now?
..Or are we likely to see a lot of profit-taking? I bought in after the first big drop, only to sell again just before the second smaller drop. Down or up? Brexit or not? Thoughts?
I'm baffled too. Solid company, pays dividends and the market leader in is sector (Hostel bookings). Does not appear to be on any short lists either. Weird.
I know there are Brexit concerns but this was at 300p less than two months ago. That last RNS seems to have scared the bejesus out of everyone and I cannot see how the fall can be justified. Before I buy up more, does anyone know anything I don't know, as this seems to good to be true!? Thanks
After doing a lot of research on hostel world I've gotta say its a great bargain at this price, hostel world has a great grip of the market owning hostel world .com hostelbooker .com and hostels .com. Whole hostel market to its self No debt Rising divided With hostel world now attacking China I can see huge potential in this company, Monday morning I'm throwing my money at it feel very confident
Why do you see a drop to £1 ? On what basis ? Travel is on the increase. ISIS are being beaten. Oil is forecast to stay about 50 dollars. Hostels are cheaper than hotels so shd do better with lower growth. HSW expanding into China area, etc..Major shareholders have 22% and 6%. Co is cash generative with strong bal sht. Manipulation en masse. All brokers have pt higher than 150p. I'm a long-termer not a day trader.
big sell off again
dont know but it was the same last week i can see this going down to a £1
Well that`s my pants well and truely taken down over the last 10 days. I thought I`d bought Hostelworld, not Hostileworld. My only consolation is that Woodford is no better at this game than I am (well on the face of it at least). Does any body know what caused the SP to drop so much?
Does anyone have any real information or speculation relating to who is selling today? Thanks.
