Nope Chablard, I use money that I would normally use on holidays and sundries. There have been no holidays for a while and I've done without other things to invest rather than spend. So, I get what you're saying.... that is, in essence, savings, but it's not my usual planned savings. That stays in tact no matter what.
It’s all good I’m not poor and if I lost it all I wouldn’t cry, this strikes gold it will be all good.
KevinR,
I am too sorry to hear of your position at the moment. I echo DBD's post as to what we have ahead of us in terms of possible outcomes.
If it is any consolation to you, I have been investing in shares since 2000 and been in many exploration companies along the way and so far, call it luck or not, I had only one bust up and that was with BPC (my own fault as I ignored some signs). Apart from that I have been careful with my research and picked some real winners. HE1 has to me all the hallmarks of a winner and I have placed what is to me a good amount of cash and I don't want to lose any of it!
What is happening right now what foreseen by a few many posts ago and should come as no surprise, yet it is not rocket science, yet there are times where it can work differently so I prefer to buy and hold as I have no stomach to trade and I am happy with that decision and have just to stomach the waves.
So, I have made my mind to buy and wait for the drill - end of. We have quite a lot of points in our favour.
All the best Kevin.
It could come good on Monday the idea was to gamble and win then pay off the overdraft and use my gains going forward. It’s tanked this eeek but next Friday sp might if doubled and it was the best decision ever. I’m only playing with 1200 so it’s not life changing money and i can save it again quite quickly if I lose it all
Kevin
I am so sorry to hear that - nothing is lost yet, its just interim sp (see ST's post and Dai2belts about sp movement during drill, yesterday I think it was posted) which might help quell your unrest a bit.
I cant give any views on HE1 anymore especially with all the info already shared and discussed here, now its really the drill bit now that needs to come up with the goods. As Dai2belts have mentioned this morning, there are >9 targets, remember, we are just heading towards target=1 and awaiting that result, then another 8 to go plus potentially another contingency well so more than 9 total. plenty of opportunity to strike. I wrote some moons ago we are testing different traps etc (got shot for doing that) - its not your the same as any "hydrocarbon exploration" nowadays - what they are doing is akin to the first ever explorers who discovered hydrocarbon in the north sea in the early 70's - HE1 will have discovered a whole new Helium basin, prove their science and pave the way for a systematic method to explore Helium if any of the 9 targets results in discovery. Its big, and that is my reason for investing. but its also risky (but we have 9 + chance at it).
Otherwise, to share but dont take this as investment advice, I started investing into Vanguard's S&P500 since 2012, nothing major as I was very skint back then due to my own fault but decided i needed to change my life. I started very small - putting something but consistently every months into Vanguard's S&P500. I did that for my wife, and my kids too when they were born. The fees are low, the returns are good - no baggers but solid % every year and just let it compound. I still put in every months until now - direct debit so i don't forget. Its probably the safest of all my investment and currently is over 30% of my portfolio.
I sincerely wish you well and hope we all turn good with HE1.
DYOR
I think its the MM taking advantage of the opportunity, when it suits they seem to be able to hold a price or let it go either way.
Free float increased a little yesterday, just 300k...
Just my thoughts - MM’s lowering price nervy investors jump - they Hoover up we then strike - Boom - patience and balls are needed - just my own opinion !

"Ouch Kev,,, NEVER use savings and definitely NEVER use any form of credit in the stock market!!"
So what exactly do you use?
Your Mum's savings? :-)

That said, even I am wondering what the hell is going on with HE1 shares. Seriously ? Delivered everything promised on time, with good comms throughout. Drill in the ground days ago, and the SP falls 25% ??! If this reverses it's going to bounce REALLY hard because of the scale of the potential reward.
Hi Kevin,
Have you thought about passively investing a big chunk of your money in a fund or the FTSE250 or something. These will be less volatile and you won't need to pick out individual companies, doing all the research, valuation and assessing the quality metrics of these companies. I'm a Commercial ACA Big 4 trained accountant and even I don't have the time to do all this on top of a full time job.
The returns will more likely be 6%-10% per year on a long term basis but its better than losing 30% in 6 months right?
Its a 3 well program with an optional 4th well
up to 11 shots at goal

We have derisking IMO, and people trading the derisking trend, and the MM
@Kevinround - just speaking as a critical friend, maybe this kind of investing isn't right for you. There are much safer alternatives such as the main FTSE100/250. AIM is a very much more volatile place where losing 30% honestly happens quite regularly. Back in February I think I lost about 25% in the course of 18 "down days" compared to 2 "up days". Six weeks later my portfolio was at an all-time-high. As you'll have gathered, HE1 is a risky investment and it sounds like you got spiked about a month ago. So now you either sell at current price and crystallise a small loss, or stay in the game and gamble on a big win/loss. It's not easy, is it ! Good luck to you, but maybe take a step back and think about what's the right kind of investing for you. Hope that's not too patronising; intended as solid advice.
Ouch Kev,,, NEVER use savings and definitely NEVER use any form of credit in the stock market!!! Just friendly advice...
its only gone tits up if you sell...
Plenty of people have done well up to now with HE1 - this has multi-bagged if you got in early days. Makes sense to de-risk some of your profits if you have large amounts here. Obvious statement but the drill results could go either way on this first attempt. If they're good the SP goes up MASSIVELY. If they're bad then the SP will tank - despite the fact this is _only_ their first attempt so there are plenty of other chances!
Personally, my average is 6.xp - although holding is very modest. If we see a drop in SP anywhere near 10p I'm adding more - this could well happen on poor initial results as people panic and sell up. If this drops to 5p then the punt hasn't paid off. If it gets to a quid then it certainly has.
Just my opinion, DYOR
I’m almost at the point where I jack in shares, I’ve lost 30% In 3 months snd prob another bad day will wipe out all my savings. I poured savings and used an overdraft to find my adventure but it’s all gone tits up. I just hope we get some positive news and I get back what I’ve lost
lol
I'm baffled as to why we are not @ 30p right now... you couldn't of got a more upbeat bunch of interviews by DM in the run up to drilling... regular tweets showing equipment arriving on site... all backed by 5 years of research and the quote of x5 in 3 months... the mind boggles
Cambridge123,
This is not reflecting my mood on my investment here as I think most of us have done our research on the stock and know they bought an exploration company with relative good possibilities of striking He, so, again, this is not a reflection on my mood today, but simply on your "heehee", and I am taking the risk of being banned, but I don't mind, so...##
Go and fook yourself, infantile nutjob! Filtered as I cannot deal with the mongoloids like yourself.
there is something in the mud !
Two lips? Tulips..... imagine, Cams fat tulips on a sack of helium...heehee
You know where you can place your tulips Cambridge?
jeez, TD not for 3 weeks and in the meantime we could get a RNS showing helium in mudshows anytime. FOMO tonight as the drill bit will turn all weekend.
Large volumes, Drill underway and a Collapsing share price... definitely a tulip bubble popping IMO!!!
No doubt the twitter brigade will be out "buying the dip" ... more like offloading their shares on the gullible.. hehe
