Great way to announce yourself on to the BB Terry. Not sure you're going to make many friends that way but good luck.
I think what Glib is trying to say, and it is all semantics, so call it transaction fee or something else, but they make money on the difference between the bid and the ask so not sure you can say that there is no such thing as a transaction fee because there is. When you buy a share you are paying above the SP so is that difference not a transaction fee? Similarly for the matched sell, you are selling at a lower price than the SP so is that not a transaction fee? It might not officially be called a transaction fee in financial terms but in essence that is what it is.
What do you call it?
I'm sure MM's get stung but they are also parasites, preying on the weak. You'll notice that before most big increase in SP they spike it down to activate stop losses and gather as many cheap shares as possible before selling them at a premium. Not to mention having ridiculously wide spreads.
Have some respect for the poor market makers after a tough week as they board the plane at City Airport, kick back and sip their complimentary Dom Perpignan in readiness for their weekend retreat in Jersey...lol
Well if DM wanted to sneak in some bad news or update he would have done it after 4.30. so another new week to look forward to and hopefully the RNS we are all wanting.
As for Spacetom.
Hmmmmm
They do not get it Terry, or choose not to get it.
And where would the price be without Market Makers?
Matched book only.
Very funny...
Some people are certainly gullible and.......then there are those that don't know what they are talking about.
They are there to make a market and try to make a profit too - it's a business ffs!
They are obliged to make a market in a certain quantity so there is always at least some liquidity. Market making can result in huge losses for brokers - if you don't believe me go and read some of the interim/annual reports from some of the quoted brokers.
There are no 'transaction fees for each purchase and each sale' charged by market makers - don't make things up to try and justify your argument.
If all that was required for them to make a market was to match people wanting to sell at a certain price with people wanting to buy, it would be automated. It isn't automated because they are after their own pound of flesh along with the transaction fees for each purchase and each sale. Call it the vig if you like but they are there to do more than just make a market - they are there to make as much profit as possible for their bosses.
Some people are so gullible. Bless.
This is nonsense - the clue is in the name! They are there to make a market so when there are more buyers or sellers the price will move accordingly. With this stock they will be very keen to maintain as flat a book as possible.
Funny how private investors are the geniuses when a stock is rising but its always someone else's fault when it goes down!
For me a 20 bagger this time next week. Can hardly wait!
Vox gave me a ping RNS alert on another stock, I nearly sh it myself
only a madman would be on the sidelines over the weekend.... double or triple bagger on decent RNS
4.29 would be funnier
I'm definitely not out of this over the weekend.
Come on DM a 4.31 rns.
Spacetomato. Im holding on to my shares too lol. It would be good to get good news soon.
flying back up now....
Select64, I think most here do understand what they "do", but there is definitely some "day light robbery" going on. Nevermind, they can do whatever as they will not get any of my shares till I am happy with what I get.
ATB
Its all about supply and demand and the mms are there to match the prices. It their job. I am not keen on shorters but it can be argued that they create volume in the market. You have to admit that as a PI the stockmarket is not a level playng field .But I would rather try to make some money investing in the Stock market than put my money in a bank account earning 0.1% interest.
DBD, are you trading between the Hyenas and the chimpanzees? :0)
A mugging activity by any other name still stinks the same, RoleyBirkin. As far as I am concerned we don't need those thieves "trying to create a market". How difficult it is to sell a share to another dude who wants to buy it? They are there for themselves and nothing else.
It’s called making a market spacetom.
Love to see you give it a go?
Spread 26.7-27.505, to buy 27.29 at quote... patiently waiting for my last buy chunk.
The MMs are absolutely a nasty bunch... the sp climbed all the way to 29p on solid buy volume. Then, they drop the sp on ridiculous volume. Now tell me if that is not share price manipulation to make the average folk scared and possibly sell. Bastardos!
Screenlearner, remember your words when we get the RNS. :0)
