Movement a bit ,hope we see some news of contracts soon
Here you go H9.
"St Kilda
18:24
Good news to be honest, a substantial amount of the construction work has to be awarded to companies employing local labour, not sending work overseas. Hopeful the Harland & Wolff yard in Arnish will flourish again, the SNP previously run the yard down, now in private ownership and away from SNP hands. Good luck Arnish."
Though, I did like this one.
"Wind turbines, I'm a big fan" lol
Thanks OT appreciate the info - The Comhairle are quite forward thinking even onboard with plans to convert the Stornoway gas supply to Hydrogen and local industry as well.
Hebridean9
As you are a local to Arnish you will probably already have read this the Comhairle has the Islands best interest at heart

BP it was a compliment so guess it could have been hard to understand.
sincere apologies OT
Nice post on BBC News comments section for ScotWind contracts @ 18.24 from St Kilda - unsure how to link to it - giving Harland & Wolff some publicity for Arnish.
oldtramp,
Any chance of that again, in English?
BP with wealth of knowlege like yours i doubt it is immeasurable
Whenever i see a comment with "JW said" or "JW stated", I immediately feel immeasurably poorer.
OT. Thanks for clarifying. However, I'm not worried about losing my initial £11k investment as I'm down about 60% so I haven't much more that I can lose. I took a punt on Brexit Britain. I'm interested to see where it takes me.
ATB, FG
FG do not worry too much all the yards are busy till June bar Belfast (which we do not know forward bookings)but they seem to be doing very well.
Regarding placements JW stated they have a credit facility available as any more fund raising via a placement would not be high enough to cover the value of the upcoming contracts.
Hope that helps OT
H9. I believe the last placing took place in order to provide the necessary funds to participate in current tender bids. Without the money we can't bid for projects. I'm aware that this is a chicken/egg scenario, but supposedly we are in the mix for near-term contracts. If we aren't awarded any contracts we will soon go out of business - simples. That said, the Tories might be being lead along the path to a bankrupt socialist utopia by our current crop of Olicharchic-Collectivist supporting senior Civil Servants, but I hope, and believe, that they will ensure some of these contracts are awarded to us, and other, British companies.
ATB, FG
Hebridean9,
Another (attempted) raise would indeed be catastrophic. As a long-term holder, this is absolutely the last thing I wanted, but the only way forward now is to sell off the Islandmagee project (ideally with a fabrication contract guaranteed for H&W Belfast) to inject (pardon the pun) sufficient cash into the business for working capital for those damned yards.
Hebridean9 ref 13.35 post I agree with what you say about the timing of any contracts. However, as ThisTimeNextYeer there is hope that Arnish will get at least one contract. Also if you look at the Stornoway Port Authority Masterplan this new Deep Water Terminal that is being built will have a link road going straight to Arnish. There is, therefore, an incentive to use Arnish for work on that side of Scotland.
No longer a HARL shareholder but look through the posts to keep up to date - the reasons I no longer invest in HARL were posted at the time. Very hopeful some of the sub-contract work will find it's way to Arnish, but the lion's share will probably go to Kishorn Port.
Main issue I see for HARL is any contract award for ScotWind will probably not be until Q4 2022 or later and HARL has a tendency to burn through cash very quickly. Another placing at current share price would be the end. It's a vicious circle as the only way the share price will move up is with contracts. If the last placing could have been avoided HARL would be in a much stronger contract negotiation point now and the share price would be 30p+ sadly not to be.
While today's announcement is good news I note from this ness item https://www.thecrownestate.co.uk/en-gb/media-and-insights/news/2021-offshore-wind-leasing-round-4-signals-major-vote-of-confidence-in-the-uk-s-green-economy/ That it is almost a year since the Crown Estate Round 4 leases have been granted and we have not heard anything about contracts. It, therefore , may be sometime before we hear about fabrication contracts.
