Love the wordplay.
PS: Big £3.3m sell at the close of play at 641p.
crying into my beer after today's update. No surprise that as it is a pub group there will always be someone on the sidelines waiting for a drop. After a good recovery from 500p today's drop of 46p is ...well ...small beer. In fact given it's outperformance I don't think yesterday's 700p was too frothy. The key will be maintaining the divi as investors who pile in won't want to be nursing a hangover if they cut the divi. The debt is being tackled which is a major anchor on the shares. For patient holders there should be plenty to dine out on with Greene King.
certainly will keep holding, got in early before the recent rise, good dividend and have actually made quite a use of the discount vouchers I received for the year offering 25% of all drinks and food!
The price cut is based on a small initial trading volume at the open. IMHO, there's no need to run for the hills.
seems harsh, any thoughts as to why SP fallen so much on that update, didn't look that bad and pretty much in line with expectations, unless people were expecting more....?
Hope so. But why big drop today? Is it a sign?
Took a small profit too, glad I reinvested dIv at 500.
Are we expecting a positive update tomorrow? - Sunny Easter may have helped?
Just topped sliced at 702p.
up over 40% since I posted in November
45min queues for the bar at our local GNK pub yesterday, absolutely rammed but only 2 serving staff. Drinkers were blatantly going to the supermarket over the road and drinking their own booze in the large garden! I’m not invested here, not trolling either, just thought shareholders might be interested, I would be.
Ian Cowie (personal account column in yesterday's Sunday Times) says of GNK's rise to 674p "I believe there is further to go. Buyers today can still obtain a market-beating yield of 4.9% and the p/e ratio of 10.7 remains undemanding."
Trading Announcement = April
Final Results = June
Why sell, or trade now?
Anyone who made a profit had 660/670 to sell at.
The rise has been incredible. I would expect a scale back at some point especially after April when IIs Winter Portfolio target expires. I would love a re-entry point of £6 to hold long term. Trading this is fun, but I would like a permanent stake.
The share price has been undervalued for somewhile imho. Good yield and a solid business that is well funded. You only have to visit a GK pub to see the offering is fair value and is attracting people who want to spend money on small ticket experiences rather than cars houses etc. Plenty more to come with this share and this sector
Have I missed anything? Does anyone know any reasons why SP has risen so much over the past week?
Maybe the selling of Chardonnay, Chablais, Pinot Grigio and the rest has helped.
just had my dividend, thankyou mr market
You have to own in july, and are issued in sept
Hi
I’ve held this company since April 2017, do you know when the discount vouchers become available?
Bill
Happy to be holding these for the past couple of years and taking decent dividends as well as using discount vouchers . A great defensive stock in these uncertain times.
Very impressed. Made 20% on these since 1 November 2018! Will be back in the Summer!
"Expecting a good SP performance in December."
You were right Velo!
*(albeit a week or 2 premature)
Thanks for bringing this one up Howie, been under my radar. Used to like a pint of IPA at lunch time, and brain damage wasn't a misnomer for boy's wild nights. 100 day positive in a bad market - one up the hill from here now that does good food - I'm going to have a nibble.
Tipped by Midas today, let’s hope it’s the start of something good. Although divs are good the SP has been in the doldrums for too long.
My bad!! Thought these ones were April & November!
