DT, yes the government have moved the goal posts probably in thinking most will be brown bread before they get to draw a pension, like you say very unfair for those that have been contributing for over 40 years then they pull the rug away only to extend it by 5 years for female and 2 years for the male, i think thats correct.
good on you Ken i did the same, started one at 17 years old whilst all my mates were ****ing their wages up the wall, i took responsability for my future myself. A self made and very very wealthy relative of mine gave me a brilliant piece of advice when i was 16. "use what you've got to make more" he said and ive stuck by that ever since. Whether its a particular skill, hard graft or just plain good hands at poker its possible for all.
Driver, you can always start your own private pension which is what i done when i was 20 years old, i came on some hard times in life financially when i reached 30 years old so had to stop paying it but i left it in to mature i still haven't drawn on it yet and its still accumulating, i could have drawn on it from the age of 55 its now worth a very substantial amount and im glad i done it.
I call it my insurance policy in case things go wrong with my trading.
The council pension scheme is basically the same you pay in out of your income on a monthly basis over and above the standard state pension.
I dont think the state pension will be around after the next 10 to 15 years the way thing are going.
you cannot simply go round removing peoples pension rights many years after they have been paid into, (unless your the sneaky government), thats just not fair at all. As for new starters then fine, thats a different kettle of fish, and afaik thats been done in most final salary schemes already.
Billy the Mrs is mid range i think grade 11 so based on the years of service i dont think her pension will be affected that much as she already has a full print out of her final pension entitlement so by the time the woodford debacle is sorted she will locked into an agreement.
Council pensions depending on how far up the pay scale the person is are usually very good
The thing is it happened so close to your wife's retirement date itll have an impact for sure
Billy, cheers for that I didn’t know if they got some back yet but if a bummer having that amount tied up
Neil Woodward fund crisis has wiped £36m off the value of an investment by Kent County Council, according to new figures that have stoked anger among members.
An official disclosure showed the council’s holding, which is trapped in the fund along with hundreds of thousands of ordinary investors, was worth £224m at the end of June, down from £260m three months earlier.
Craig, I don’t know if KCC got their money out or whether it’s still in negotiation but that’s part of my Mrs pension as she’s worked for KCC 26 years hope the bstards don’t reduce it as she wants to retire next April so we can travel
Yeah think that is the main thing about the program and the costs for the privilege
Craig Kent county council tried to pull their investment out of Woodford fund that’s why it was frozen as he didn’t have enough liquid fund to cover it, they put in an order to withdraw their entire holding £250 million which amounted to approx 4% of the total fund this money is part of KCC pension pot
I’ll have a look at that today Craig
Last night Bbc1 about hedge funds and screwing people over
Craig what Chanel ?
I just been looking at copper and it’s starting to get very restricted range wise it may drop once more but don’t think it will be massive possibly 130 points down from where it is now at 5833 say to bout 5700 mark then in next month we will see some improvement.
Me neither caught end of it will watch it on catch up
Anyone watch this tonight
