Will respond to this now the market is closed....
@Paddy, thanks, ATB to you. You were a big factor in helping me decide to invest here. Though as my life has turned I've ended up not needing the money, that might not have been the case, and anyway, it's something very nice to pass on to my kids. So I feel an immense gratitude for your selfless contributions here.
@manutd99, please don't make me your mentor, Do Your Own Research! :) It's nice to hear if I've helped someone. In all seriousness, though, this is why I've been advised to leave this forum. Just because I'm good with words doesn't mean I'm always right, and I'd hate to be wrong when someone considers me a mentor -- doesn't fit well with being a spiritual mentor. I hope that makes sense. Thank you for the very nice comment.
People don't want to read my farewells to every single person, so just to say thanks to all who have responded. I'll probably be around a little longer. ATB.
Well said Paddy, as eloquent as ever, shows you kissed something in your youth, There are few, if any wrong religions in the world, merely the twisted interpretation by a modest few. To others there is more to life than ggp, believe it or not, and a flow of occasional general conversation does not go amiss.
Hi TMT, I’ve had a blissful weekend away from all things GGP and am only catching up with some of the posts today and I read yours with much interest. I am very heartened to see that people like yourself still have the call to serve a higher power.
I have personal experience of how much comfort and support can be brought to bear on someone’s life by having a crutch of someone with the sort of faith that you have to lean on. Whether than be a religious or purely spiritual experience is a moot point. I grew up in a strongly Catholic environment and whilst sections of the church have no doubt left a lot to be desired, the good work that the majority of both clergy and lay-people do leaves me in no doubt than if everyone were to practice what is preached – the world would be a far better place overall.
I hope you find the strength from your faith to help you through what will undoubtedly be a testing but ultimately rewarding journey.
ATB - Paddy
Hi TMT I will just reiterate what your ol fellow investor friend Nige would have said...
BOL
Sorry Impecunious2, didn't see your post @16:24. I completely agree with you. ATB:))
All the best TMT. You have to do whatever is best for you. Nothing wrong in following religious pursuits. All the religious haters guess believe everything the media tell them. Do some research guys.
I have you bookmarked so tend to read your posts and of a few others (inc paddygal) so you will be missed Immensely. I know very little about shares so when times are not looking good (like now) when the price isn't doing well I look to your knowledge and research to reassure me that GGP is the right share. You were like my Mentor for GGP. This forum will never be same again. That's from the bottom of my heart.
Saying all that I believe you did the right thing putting things into perspective what you will be doing. You have to look at the positives and it takes great courage to do what you are doing after what you must've been through over the last 6 months. I give you huge amount of credit.
All the best.
All the very best to you and yours @TMT.
Dodge.
TMT - I wish you loads of luck in the path you have chosen - one thing is for sure it will not be an easy one to navigate, but I do think the people you choose to help will benefit greatly.
I am not religious, and I also think religion has caused huge problems in this world, but it has also done a lot of good. I was brought up a Christian and went to church, but have never been able to answer the chicken and egg question and the science stops me believing.
I know many religious Christians, and their faith is amazing and gives them great comfort.
Inner LA would not have been for many people - let alone your dear departed wife, you will already have seen some of the misery there. I have visited many places on the US West Coast, only on holiday, and the poverty and homelessness in one of the worlds wealthiest places was hard to take in, majority also being elderly.
I will miss your sensible posts here. I have been busy and do not look in too often now, but bought some more shares this week, and truly believe in GGP. Glad I looked in today to see your message, and the many messages of support.
OnSpeed ...why don't you post some valuable opinion/speculation on here rather than just abuse those that do and stop wishing for global meltdown just so you can be happy with the coins you have in a vault somewhere where you will never get access to should the worse happen.
Hi Bond wanabee. The only shame is your presence here.
This poster speedy always brings things back to wealth, without fail....must be eating away at him ...such a shame really!
TMT, 'I would need to tell you which church to join, wouldn't I? Perhaps, then, I don't believe that, and your reading-between-the-lines skills can use some work. :)' Ah, you've assumed I go to ANY church, LOL.
If you're going into the next part of your journey with your eyes wide open, that should be enough for anyone, family, friend or stranger, to accept and be happy for you, as am I.
All the best :))
Hi TMT. I think Christian values are good but an all seeing all knowing entity is beyond my comprehension. Use the wealth you have accrued as you see fit and as long as you are happy with your lot all is good. Keeping your GGP stock in the family is probably one of the better decisions. ATB Speedy
Hi, Jet @12.35
Very interesting post. I suppose a cynic would say that TMT is moving from one cult to another (for there is something cult-like about the worship of GGP, although we've lost our great leader). But I'm no cynic; and TMT has always struck me as one of the most intelligent and rational posters here; so presumably well-able to look after himself.
Best wishes.
Brilliant answers to all the Q TMT .. gave us another insight into the type of person you are .. going from that you will be a brilliant missionary. Good luck in all your travels and even more good luck to your kids and future wealth.
Much appreciated too TmT! And likewise
All the best in what you do TMT big thumbs up.
Thanks, Panama. Hope you are finding comfort and peace, and I appreciate your friendship.
Thank you again for the nice comments from many.
@Jiffy, LOL at the monthly GGP-sermon. I don't expect to have time to keep up on GGP research enough to do that, which is probably a good thing!
@Ruth, I've seen OAC at work in both London and Los Angeles.
@Jet, thank you for your concerns for me, which I believe are genuine.
First, I'm doing something I've wanted to do for decades and never saw as a possibility until now. Every religion is called a cult by someone but I'm following the same faith I took for my own as a teenager. I have certainly asked myself, "Are you just rebounding into something?" I'd say it is a good friend who is willing to ask the tough questions like that and I appreciate you raising it, but I'm satisfied with the answer. Thanks.
Second, if owning GGP shares was sinful, I wouldn't give them to my kids! "Here, kids, I'm done following the devil but I'll help you follow him!" LOL. No, wealth is a good gift from God (though He does care how we use it).
Third, if not going to my church made people wicked, I would need to tell you which church to join, wouldn't I? Perhaps, then, I don't believe that, and your reading-between-the-lines skills can use some work. :)
Finally, I'm giving my GGP shares to my kids because it is wealth I'll never need, and because I won't have time to maintain research on shares. Most of my other shares I'll just liquidate. It would be foolish to liquidate GGP shares right now.
ATB to you all!
TMT , an intriguing post & a major revelation which was brave , insightful and raw. Thanks you for sharing .
I’m also overseas ,hence the radio silence ,but not on a mission so poignant or life - changing. Stay with us as long as you can and know you are treasured here as both a voice of reason & as a knowledgeable, If sometimes controversial sage . You will be missed.
But all the luck in the world to you on your quest for fulfilment , giving back, & your own peace .
ATB Panama
To JET47: an excellent resume of the situation. regards TEOS.
TMT, 'My mentors say I'll need to drop out here.' If you mean the forum, I can understand that. But when you say you will give your GGP shares away, which I'm reading between the lines is also an instruction coming from your mentors? I'm afraid it sounds like you're vulnerable through grief, looking for a purpose and joining a cult facilitated by the in-laws who have emotional power over you. If this journey is predicated upon your background or truth, all well and good, but what you have done is tell a forum full of shareholders that your church considers owning shares sinful. By extension to that logic, in your eyes, we are all sinners. Well, TMT, IMO, I'm not wicked just because I don't go to your church and, IMO, owning shares isn't sinful and you could always use the profits to help others or pay for a new church roof. Anyway, I truly hope your Ministry makes you happy and I wish you all the best.
ATB:)
Good luck on your new chosen path TmT, I take my hat off to you.
Best wishes TmT and glad to have you with us for a little while yet.
All the very best TMT
