My take on targets is that last year they drilled blackhills as it was the asset that was furthest advanced after Havieron and had highest probability of success. Scally is next on the list and Goliath after that. Goliath might have the best chance of a giant find but it’s doesn’t have a chance of success as high as scally. Sadly panorama is further back.
Maybe the sale of 5% of Hav would allow Ggp to speed up all the analysis and allow for multiple drill rigs but till then there is a logical sequence.
PS: Ignore the last sentence, which was of course about Scallywag and was a cut & paste I should have removed. :-)
Just for information, in case anyone missed the actual last advice we had about the proposed drilling program, GH stated in the Proactive interview on the 23rd July that after the Scallywag drilling, which they hoped to commence in 2-3 weeks time (with preparation work already underway)...
"...Then we'll wheel the rig up to Patterson Range East and then potentially down to Black Hills."
Preparation work already underway.
tick up next week before news
I think my remarks should be more aimed at Goliath the highest priority target and probably not Saddle reefs as the Blackhills surveys/ drilling campaign is way ahead of Scallywag a good 12 months.
Scallywag and Paterson Range East are probably at the same point of surveys complete waiting for drilling programme.
Goliath is classed as a high priority target but it's been put behind the Scallywag programme so there must be a good reason for doing so.
One reason could be just sensible infilling between Havieron and Blackhills and then moving on to Paterson Range East ..
The shear size of Scallywag will limit the targets with the available resources and probably the same with the Goliath area.
Well whatever happens wherever there going to drill I'm sure Ggp will have chosen the right locations for the best results.
Scallywag before Goliath makes perfect sense, it can share the same field camp, and if it strikes, there will be another JV and tolling agreement as its so close to Telfer.
I think a strike at Goliath (albeit thats the one i think will be a company maker) would require more infrastructure, certainly rail to Telfer, or its own processing plant perhaps
It would be better to embark on that when we have a £2bn Mcap imo
Totally agree TMT, as we are not aware of the big picture all we can do is try and piece together what we can.
The Hav JV is going nicely and the big question everyone going to ask is are we a one trick pony or can we replicate the same success again.
@Avizandum
1. Who's roasting the board? Trying to understand why they are doing what they are doing isn't roasting them, it's research.
2. We're in a JV with NCM on one project. Our interests align beautifully on Hav but there's no reason to follow their interests outside of Hav unless there is again alignment.
Bamps started an interesting discussion here on why/how the current plan fits our interests. It's a great question and topic for discussion -- maybe someone will figure out the answer.
Think the issue here is that GGP is now working in partnership with NCM, and there will be targets NCM are more interested in to meet its own needs. Not much point roasting our board, let the partnership evolve and understand GGP may need to change tack as we go along. All good.
18.25 antigua18 - the 30 June RNS sets out the plans for Scallywag:
· Cultural heritage clearances, which were previously deferred due to COVID-19 concerns (see announcement dated 1 April 2020), are now underway.
· Drilling expected to commence at Greatland's 100%-owned Scallywag prospect area within the next four to six weeks, subject to receipt of heritage approvals.
· The drilling campaign will initially focus on high-priority targets within the Scallywag prospect area including Kraken, Blackbeard and London.
· Once the initial phase of drilling is complete at Scallywag, the Company expects to drill additional high-priority targets on its Paterson Range East licence including Goliath and Los Diablos.
@ TmT - A good question for GH and CB at the AGM which order are they planning to drill the tenaments and the reasons why?
I'm aware that when carrying out airborne magnetic surveys, once they detect metal they then can vary the frequency oscillation to determine what type of mineralisation is undercover. Saves time if you are not looking for iron ore for example. Maybe science has advanced so much they have a good idea what's underground?
It’s still a mystery to me why we aren’t drilling anything at present. Especially considering we don’t have the capability to drill all year.
I know we have had delays due to COVID, but feel we are wasting time at present.
We need more results from other areas before NCM make their play.
Hi, Bamps. "Why are they leaving it to after Scallywag?"
It's a good question. I don't know why NCM would be more interested in a Scal JV as opposed to a Saddle Reef JV, though. Not much cover at Scal but also not much at Saddle Reef, it appears. Goliath isn't quite as close to Telfer, so perhaps that explains that one. Maybe proximity to Hav means the possibility of shared infrastructure?
If you hit bit at Scal, it probably makes sense to build a railway or conveyor to Telfer. Obviously, that wouldn't come into play at the other sites.
Bamps if GGP have said they were high priority in a past RNS they really should be explaining now why they are not or why Scally now has become a priority over them.
I would say thats a good possibility that they have told them to start on sally, but at the same time makes complete business sense for ggp to also do this and hopefully jv or sell the full license
Are they saving the best till last.
No that can't be right there's still the cobalt:))
PS matches (not watches)
Hi Bamps,
My own conspiracy theory(;-) , ,watches the one where you speculate on the NCM Scally JV, mainly due to it's logistics as well as prospectivity.
Would seem to be a logical logistical next step? But only a view!
ATB
Hey Bamps. I like the Hav lookalike reference in your post. It's nice we get to use it as a reference point too, lord knows everybody else and their dog has.
On why London first, no clue, first anomaly on the road from Telfer maybe!
Ggp have 2 High priority targets in Saddle Reef and the gigantic Havieron lookalike Goliath.
I am just speculating here but why are they not drilling these first before Scallywag?
Is there something bigger on Scallywag maybe.
Are they just proving up one Licence at a time to conform to the Licence requirements?
Is it because it's close to Havieron for fascilities?
My favourite conspiracy theory is NCM have asked for it to be done for another JV.
Just my thoughts after a few glasses of red on a very hot sunny day :))
At least it's better than yesterday's rubbish.
Take another look at Goliath it's another biggy. 3 historical drills missed it. Similar geochemistry to Havieron, it's been peppered with MMI survey at 200m spacing.
Why are they leaving it to after Scallywag?
