No mate
Simple trucking from Hav to telfer ...no need for any conveyors
decline will be about 1 in 7 with loop switchbacks
portal will be about 1.0km from deposit (exploration not development one)
cheers
CB
Paddy thanks for the link to 'carrepenta' diagrams on pages 7 and 10 are very interesting.
Can't tell from the Satelite images but wonder whether the land to the South - where they have crossed the dune is a lot lower than where the main drilling has been taking place:
https://twitter.com/priminvestments/status/1242391011621580800/photo/1
If the incline was started from the South and a lower surface NCM could reduce the angle and distance to the 'cave'
Chartbuster .. just my thinking but wouldn’t you want the entrance to the mine at the nearest point to Telfer to reduce either road transport or conveyor belt length ?
GDay Paddy
mate could be a sterilisation hole but several reasons it may not be. Its very early to be starting that work and holes seems too close to mineralisation for decline drilling.
Remember only a couple of holes blanked to the south doesnt mean its closed off. horseshoe is a working model not a definite fact.
why not come in from the due West to know you arent in it? I reckon its an exploration hole probably because they have identified the horseshoe has been faulted off and or they got an off hole DHEM or IP conductor.
Could be wrong fellas but hard to believe in March they would be doing sterilisation drilling for December when they have such flimbsy understanding of the limits to the extent of this bad boy.
Bloody pumped about this one
Cheers

Have a look at this plan for carrepenta which is being developed by Oz Minerals - posted by Pr0t0n on ADVFN.

It's mainly a copper mine also under 500m of cover. It shows the decline to the orebody and they are starting at the top using sub-level caving and then later it could be converted to a block cave and extracted from the bottom.
Sounds familiar - could literally be a blueprint for the development of Havieron.

Nice to stimulate a bit of conversation about Havieron & GGP instead of some of the drivel that was discussed during the week.
I think if it's either a decline or they've stumbled across another mineralised zone then it's good news for us. It'll be interesting to see if it's reported in the April update.

Those are interesting videos of Cadia and augers well for HAV. Brings back memories of the crushers I worked on in a copper mine many years ago !
It's fascinating learning about stuff I had no idea about before. If you're interested have a look at the Grasberg mine on wiki. It's the largest gold mine and second largest copper mine in the world.
Hi Lenz - they have already done it at Cadia mine

In effect they may still find more mineralisation during sterilisation drilling or they may not. I'm not a mining person, more a muppet, so I have never heard of this term but it is fascinating watching this unfold in front of our very eyes
Having Paddy on board with his 'eyes in the sky', 'real time' footage of drilling developments which then incite others to proffer up their professional insights....such information is a proper learning curve for muppets like me
'Sterilization (or condemnation) drilling tests areas of a mine site to be sure there are no valuable minerals there, so that buildings, roads, power lines, pipelines, waste piles, tailings disposal areas, etc. can be built on the areas that have been sterilized or condemned. Every mine site has at least one mineral deposit and infrastructure, and you need to be sure they don't conflict with each other.
It would be a huge and expensive mistake to build a $50 million mill facility only to find out there's a valuable mineral deposit underneath!
An interesting story on this subject is the discovery history of the Pipeline gold deposit near Battle Mountain, Nevada. When the mining compnay was looking for a good route to build a water pipeline to the nearby Cortez gold deposit, they carried out condemnation drilling along the proposed pipeline route, and discovered a 5 million ounce gold deposit. Needless to say, they were happy to choose a new route, and they named the new discovery Pipeline.'

That is very interesting and I wonder if they will employ any of those methods at HAV. Looks good on paper but I wonder how efficient it would be in real life ?

This could be paying a decent dividend in less than 3 years.
That should slowly but surely bring in the big investors.
A penny a month rise in the s.p is on in my opinion .
If it is anything like drilling for oil .. they can go straight down and then deviate or they can deviate from the start in any direction they like !
https://rechneronline.de/slope/
ok - found myself a useful site - time for an old dog to teach himself new tricks!
From my limited knowledge I dont think declines are spirals. More like straights or zig zags, depending how far down they want to go.
Will we get a barnstorming announcement by Newcrest end-April? They're clearly excited about what they have. I was wondering why would they choose the Q-results to release news on Havieron. Maybe the good news from Havieron will buffer the bad news from other areas of their operations
I was wondering whether that was in connection with a potential decline last week in my post - I was asking for more knowledgable posters would know whether it was a straight long tunnel or something like a spiral? A quick search on google shows that declines are normally 6 to 10 degrees below the horizontal - for those with a little more current maths understanding, does that make sense given the distance of the southern hole to the base of the core of current activity?
My questions might well be very naive so please understand I know nothing about mining!

Hi Paddy
It also tells us something about what has already been found regarding the HGZ and the rough calculation of MRE ounces if they can pull one rig to do this Decline investigation at this very early stage.
I hope I've explained my thinking clear enough.
Chester.
Had a reply to my tweet about the new drill pad in the South from Charlie Stephenson last night. He seems to be a geologist and he has a link to sicapital (our brokers) in his bio.
https://twitter.com/GeologyCharlie/status/1246340658652217344?s=19
He's basically saying that this drilling we are seeing to the South could be sterilisation drilling for the planning of the decline.
Now while I'd like it to be NCM chasing another zone of mineralisation this theory is almost more exciting and makes perfect sense.
Sandeep said they were hoping to start the decline by the end of this calendar year or early next year - surely that timescale could be brought forward if this is indeed sterilisation drilling.
Also Sandeep mentioned about targeting the high grade zones and bulking it afterwards. The position of that hole might mean they will target that SW corner from underground sooner than we expected.
Exciting times - should be a bumper update on the 30th.

Nice one PG and yes, it does seem far away to drill into the original mineralisation.
Time will tell.

Very informative post paddy..appreciated as always. For a moment I though I was on the wrong BB until I saw your post...thanks for keeping it relevant. Have good one.

Paddy, thanks for your research.
I've just posted a reply on Twitter that ties in to historic modelling done by GGP

My view, as expressed by others, is that they are most likely fan drilling from this remote pad to determine the boundary where the lode-bearing mineralisation starts. They need to determine where to start the incline for block-cave mining. The North-West horseshoe could still be open.
