Lot of very short term trading on 212 buying in small blocks and dropping the lot for £100 profit etc which is fine and for some traders 2 or 3 trades like that and they can exist reasonably comfortably. I prefer 2 or 3 more 0's on the end before I sell. I don't like shorting but as Sonny says it really shouldn't affect the LTH. On all the evidence GGP is an exceptional investment in the making.
I am not suggesting that boycotting 212 would necessarily prevent shorting SonnyDay. I am sure the perpetrators would find another way of borrowing shares but if it hits 212's bottom line I am all for it. There are other free brokers for those investing smaller amounts. I am suggesting that they might be a better bet.
It not about stopping shorting
Based on your logic then it's like you putting your house up for sale and then putting a sewage processing facility in your garden once you've put it up for sale and expecting to get full ask
I have GGP in a non ISA Trading212 account (also in an ISA elsewhere and SIPP).
I think it's a little naive to think it everyone boycotted 212 it would stop shorting. If someone wants to do it, they will. Just like it doesn't matter how good your house security is, if someone wants to break in they will.
212 is not a bad platform imo, and it suits me for what I need it for.
Shorting is irrelevant for the true LTH anyway, actually you could argue it's beneficial as Ive 4x my position this year.
"Why Your Stock is Always Red
https://www.griproom.com/fun/why-your-stock-is-always-red"
JiffyBag, thank you so much for that link. That article, and the author's linked article "10 signs your stock is being manipulated", make for excellent reading.
on a test buy/sell quote its 17.53/17.63 - thats not guaranteed but an indicator
I think you'll find that the spread is really tight at the min and LSE only see midpoint as the SP so the buys/sells scenario is screwed up.
I use Trading 212, they only loan out shares in your trading account not ISA, that’s not me letting them off the hook. Mine are in my ISA.
'Anyone in 212 should really be leaving'
Totally agree Codejunkie but I think it should be worse than that. They should be actively campaigned against. A boycott is insufficient. I don't want to see this thread removed so caution prevents me from expanding upon this.
This stock has been maniuplated for months....
Good news, massive chunks of stock get dumped on the market. It happens in every stock I have that has a high PI base.
Apparently "the professionals" who, might I add, caused a world financial crash, think that PI's should not be involved in the market. Keep pushing the stock price down, "they will give up and sell up" - Think they may have picked the wrong stock for that one here.
Pity Trading 212 is loaning out everyones GGP stock for shorting. Anyone in 212 should really be leaving, using your own shares to f*ck over your long position is a joke
Completely agree Jiffybag, it’s one of the best attributes, stubbornness, thanks to my mother. Lol. If everyone sticks together and holds tight, we all know where this is going. Buy if and when you can, but hold and don’t get sold for your gold. 2 fingered salute to messers trying to control the stock V
Manipulated definitely and I would love to know by who and why. With all the positive info coming in on a regular basis this should be in the mid 20's. For me the current situation is as illogical as this share reaching a 1billion MC on an unknown potential.
JiffyBag I agree with your sentiment and specifically the focus of your observation which I understand correctly are those city companies that exist simply to move markets or stock for short term gain with no regard to the fundamentals or future prospects. The introduction of the limited company concept was fundamental to everything that underpins commerce but the concept of shorting remains reprehensible in my view. A naive mindset maybe.
AtB
Yes, and for some considerable time now.
Speculation aside, a fact is people have been very clearly selling down this line which put lid on n any rise so far - https://imgur.com/vAPPNtN.jpg
Who and why, who knows
How to beat Wall Street/City of London?
You buy. And you hold. You hold forever. You never, ever sell until your thesis plays out. If the stock drops, you should be thrilled. You can buy more at a cheaper price. You should laugh like an invincible warrior facing down an army.
If you hold on to your shares, Wall Street/The City can never own them.
This will frustrate them. If enough investors buy and hold a stock because it’s a great company with great growth prospects, then the vampire squid will move on.
Spade,Interesting Macro view , we all know real inflation is far higher than is admitted to right now, Diesel nearly 140p a litre I noticed today absolute rip off!
At a micro level ie GGP, maybe this type of manipulation is going on, in part at least?
