This is a lovely lesson in reality.
Any company has to evolve and face changing economic environments. Those that evolve and capitalise on opportunities will thrive, those that stick with some outdated dogma generally fail.
Think back to when the deal was done with Pacific. Yes the aim, then, was to find and prove up a prospects. Package up and sell, move on to the next.
Well, lots has happened since. HAV hit big! NCM need HAV to feed Telfer! Covid has changed economies worldwide! The prospects for PMs and especially copper are massive (compared to a couple of years ago. GGP has more, promising prospects in the area whilst is is increasingly looking like a district scale discovery! GGP has prospects in other areas too!
I thank out BOD and especially GH. He recognised (and signalled in advance) that his skillset does not cover expansion into a mining company. He has stepped aside to allow someone else to take the reins for the forseable. This is the proper management of a company in the best interests of the shareholders.
Now a now plan and future needs to be charted by the new man. He is operating in an economic environment completely different to what was expected and I am sure he will evolve the company to meet the new challenges.
The old mantra of sell HAV and move on, is gone. Dead. Of no use whatsoever any longer. We evolve or die.
I am in, big time, for the long haul (certainly for as long as we have such far sighted BOD).
That's sort of right but forget SD for a minute.
The first 5 drills by Ggp before the jv were done as an exploration play, the company's plans at the time was to find ore bodies and package them up ready for sale.
Those 5 drills were astonishing and NCM wanted in immediately but they were too good to let go cheaply and the jv was signed.
GH stated sometime ago that he was not the person to take Ggp to mining, so welcome SD and here we are on the road to mining.
The Juri jv was never going to be like Havieron, it's a vast area with an abundance of targets.
The exploration costs are way over Ggp's head and may even stretch NCM, so there was never going to be a great incoming deal on that.
Scallywag is different when they hit something this could be another Havieron type deal.
This is a long term game you have to set your thinking to long term not short term.
This is my grandkids inheritance that's the way I think :))
@Bamps21: Good morning. Last night Paddy put some new information into the mix - at least it was new to me - that the original plan was to sell Havieron but because of the size of it the plan changed and that's why SD was brought in as CEO. If that's correct - and there's no reason it shouldn't be - then it makes my ideas about GGP being taken out by a lowball offer out of date. My thinking is built around a negative interpretation of the juri JV deal and the AGM leading up to it. If i'm wrong about that then it blows a hole in the rest of it.
@VikingShrimper. Yes - it's one to forget. But that same evening you called 2 posters aliases of 'elise'. From an outside point of view - and i feel an outsider in this respect - that comes across as a bit extreme too. I think there comes a point a person has to make a call: is this stuff real or not? My call is i don't think it is. All the stuff about paid derampers and the rest of it.
I never read that last post 'elise' wrote but from the general reaction it was very shocking. Until then my impression was she was basically attention-seeking - like about the mortgage - and most of the time didn't bother to read her posts. It turns out she was spiteful too - but the thing is it doesn't make her part of a team of multi-ID derampers.
There's joint ventures and there are joint ventures .
By that I mean some exploration companies need a joint venture to be able to continue.
Take for instance Antipa they say they own 100% of Minyari but do they. There jv with NCM cost them 10% of their company fairly cheaply and similarly with Rio and IGO. These type of explorers hang on by their fingernails and eventually get paid off cheaply .
Then there are the exceptional ore finds where the explorers have found something that a major really wants. This can be seen in the type of deals that are around.
At Havieron NCM knew that Ggp were sat on a biggie as the first drill was announced, why didn't they just buy them out when they were very cheap? Why did they go into a deal where to be able to get 5% would cost them dear?
The majors seem to be happy with partnerships 75-25% you can see it with all of them. NCM have Havieron and Redchris plus others.
Is this to prevent predators maybe.
Is it to reduce liabilities, I wouldn't like to guess but their jv with Ggp seems to be going very well with Ggp becoming their exploration division.
This seems to me to be developing into a merger I hope not but looks that way , some way down the track yet.
Jack, you seem very perturbed. I assume this is because posts were not favourable to your comments.
I do not wish to be rude but your negativity tonight was worthy of the "bear" in your name. Sorry Jack.
Final note, yes we do have a real problem with the infestations trying to disturb the forum, are you going to assist that position?
Jack, I think you are a good guy and I wish you the best, tonight is one to forget.
Thats great TFG
Lots of conjecture here and who really knows how all will play out, probably not even the GGP board themselves.
Yes they will have a plan that will follow a road map ( main highway being Hav) but the road map has many junctions forks and roundabouts, as much depends on results, revisits more results, partners and other outside forces.
We can discuss all we like but IMO better just looking forward to the reporting updates and the jigsaw pieces coming together.
@Redirons. This is a chat board that spends all day every day identifying people as part of a team multi-ID paid de-rampers working for some mystery institution with corrupt methods. To me, most of the time it comes across as a delusional paranoid madhouse. If being 'flushed out' means i'm seen as not being part of it then i'm fine with it.
But i think more damage is being done to the impression you want the chat board to create by all the weird stuff and a 3 line whip to make you believe it than anything i could do even if i tried. This is not what chat boards are supposed to be like and most of them are nothing like this at all. If i were a potential investor looking at this stuff i would take it as a warning sign and run a mile.
Noted Viking, will monitor and action as appropriate - totally annoying at present and bordering on unacceptable imho.
TFG, re your p.s. the post, Freddie post etc, perhaps you can influence the situation to a speedy conclusion?
Thankyou so much for all your replies relating to my initial comment.
I respect each and everyone one of your views but I must admit that there are a few posters whose views have reconfirmed my thought of ggp growing massively under shaun day and the reference to GH stating hed taken the company as far as he could and shaun was best placed to move forward.
I still like the idea of ggp becoming a miner but I've previously been completely honest i dont know much about mining or how you would go about becoming a miner so maybe shaun will increase the prospects and carry on with the explorations. Either way still really exciting and I'm glad that it has enabled varying views to be voiced.
As always paddy, bamps naphman, zorros, very engaging posts.
Of course there may be external forces outside of his control that mean it doesn't come to fruition, but I think he's savvy enough and been in the business long enough to be aware of the many challenges and pitfalls in the coming years.
Agree @Paddy, although I am only 95% certain right now. The 2021 season and news flow Is about to kick off. If we get to even half of last year, results wise, then there will be no place for derampers, paid bashers and 10-20% traders - it will be long term holders and II’s only that really will and should benefit.
Still prepared to lose but as you say, it’s the chance of a generation to accumulate multiples of investment with minimum risk. Folk should get on the train soon imho.
GLA LTHs - TFG
Ps. Today seems to be Post / Freddie post / Post / Freddie Post / Post / Freddie Post / Post / ad nauseam..... if really waiting for 40p then just wind it down please
Jack - if I can flush out those whose comments unnecessarily or subtly undermine the good that is here for all investors in GGP then my work is done. If you are a sincere investor then maybe you will attend more to the impression you leave through the words you use. If you’re not then you have been outed anyway so will hopefully have less impact than you want to. I wish you good luck in your investment here.
@Redirons. If i'm being disruptive then please tell me what my motives are. I definitely don't think anyone should sell at this level especially if they're underwater. For one reason, a share price of at least 38p and reasonably higher is the nearest thing to a dead cert. The company is as safe as anything so it's just a matter of being patient.
Maybe it's that i just want to inject something like realism onto a chat board that seems at times to be like a madhouse with all its accusations of multi-id derampers, contacts with knowledge of mystery buyers and mystery sellers, dark pools and all manner of whatnot. It's not a chat board it's more like a crazy paranoid fantasy world you've all created for yourselves.
I am so glad that despite all the dross espoused on this board by certain elements, that I find comfort and succour in the few posters , whom time and time give their unconditional viewpoints that I am able to keep my remaining Shares firmly under my posterior, I do thank you all you all know who you are, as we all do
@jack - too early to say I think given that Hav is continuing to surprise and we have plenty of action to look forward too with the Juri and scally programs.
Let's see how things play out over the next 6 months would be my advice before coming to too many definite assumptions mate. Not enough data to create an accurate hypothesis.
Shaun and the team IMO seem to be set on GGP being onboard when NCM bring Hav into production and their plans for GGP encapsulate far more than just selling Hav or they would have kept Gervaise as CEO till year end. Gervaise himself mentioned a key event in an interview that was transformational for GGP, perhaps the Juri JV is part of a deal with NCM to continue on as production partners with Hav?
Personally I think there are way too many chess moves to play out an what is in essence a 3d board before we see the end game here.
Well, in more general terms, I think it is refreshing that we have been able to have a debate, and an exchange of views, which have been conducted in a courteous and respectful way, and without anyone being offensive to another who holds a different point of view. That's the way it should be
I don’t buy it Jack - it’s the scenario that you’re trying to get others to believe might happen - I’ve been watching you and imho you’re not to be trusted. If I’m wrong I will apologise but I think you are sewing in little snide disruptions.
@jackthebear - the clue is in the fact that Shaun is now the CEO of GGP - if we were to continue down the purely exploration route then GH would more than likely still be at the helm. I know that this was 100% the plan when the original farm-in with NCM was agreed but Havieron has grown into something that made that original plan be rehashed over the last 12-14 months.
The company has moved onto the next level of planning for the future - the new CEO has told people in no uncertain terms on every possible occasion that he could but either people don't want to hear or are just not listening.
Roll on this time 2 weeks - the excitement for the NCM quarterlies will be building up nicely.
ATB - Paddy
@Davielad. TBH i hope Bamps IS right. If it turns out i called it i will certainly NOT be saying i told you so. It's just the scenario i'm working to.
Sorry Jack, cannot agree mate, goodnight
Ok jack, i get that, but I will bet you a large dram that Bamps is right, and that are wrong, and let's leave it at that
@VikingShrimper: "Selling Haverion, the jewel in the crown?? I could barely believe what I was reading." Hi. That's what explorers do. They sell what they find and move on to look for something else.
Jack, some wild guesses,in my view from you tonight which could be taken from some as scaremongering, for the newer investors reading some eloquent posts detailing a somewhat gloomy short term future could create turmoil for them.
Selling Haverion, the jewel in the crown?? I could barely believe what I was reading.
Anyway, it does seem your views has not been received as you had wished but I wish you well Jack.
