@Safy :)
sorry
you have to keep them short and snappy so my attention doesn't wander
i am old and survive on coffee :)
Orders set for top ups now if they want a touch of the t-line
Currently comfortably riding the 8ema
Dip would be short lived
News Monday 7am blows it out of the water
@Grim
You're not reading my posts lol
I've already got it confirmed from the company that Beckman dont have a covid test. They have an antibody test.
Thanks for the technical explanation Technick. Just gets better and better, all helps to boost the top end SP, once the Approvals and subsequent Sales come through.
GDR is going to be 'The Real Deal'.
@Safy
hard to believe but i could find no mention of pcr rns test or antigen test for Beckman very interesting
that does make things more interesting.
wonder how many labs world wide have Biomek machines in them :)
Stars
Beckman dont have a Covid test, they have an antibody test.
@technick
that makes sense
so it is a big thing then :)
The change to saliva is probably helped significantly with the bead format of the GDR reagent because it means you are only adding sample to rehydrate the reagents, no dilution of the sample which improves sensitivity. Otherwise with tests like NCYT the reagents a pre-hydrated and added wet to the sample leading to a significant dilution, as much as 80-90% depending on the formulation. It's a big deal.
Another Great post Safy,
I did not realise the change from Swab to Saliva sample, this a massive change.
I undertook a Government (wave 2) survey a few weeks ago, which was a swab test, and I found it very much a problem to swab my Tonsil's without the swab touching my Teeth, Tongue or Gums, my wife had to do this swab for me. (after a practice with a cotton wool swab).
The next stage of the swab test was to Swab each Nasal Cavity, which was very uncomfortable, and made me sneeze violently. Altogether, not a very nice experience.
All this ****ting news and we’re still not to the £1 mark. Who’s selling bgf or placement. Can’t be much left. Would be flushed out by vol
Saliva is much easier to get a sample and less likely to have a error in collection but has less of a viral load than the samples from Buccal swabs. Buccal swabs are horrid to take and can cause discomfort where as spitting in a tube is relatively easy and most, even some people on here should be able to do it without too much of an issue. :)
you are right though its is now saliva and that is another improvement.
For the future this connection of GDR and Beckman has huge potential. The number of other tests which could be automated using this tech and Genedrive's testing beads format could revolutionise lab based diagnostics, but like everything GDR, potential needs to be converted to hard cash in the bank at some point or all is for nought. (way to many commas in that sentence). :)
@Grim
You're probably right mate, either way its Saliva now and not invasive swab which brings its own problems especially when not done correctly :-)
i am not sure they have changed the test i think they just use Beckmans RNA extraction procedure which works on saliva. I will have a read and see what i can find.
Any major changes to the test would require more approvals and we have had no notification of those i think.
also Beckmans have a branch in Dehli :)
Ty, don’t use LinkedIn, only started using Twitter about 3 month ago.
Ok so to bring some light on the BC partnership.... this is just my view and not something ive verified with GDR or BC.
I dont think we will hear from that area until the validation is complete, but its not all bad, our news flow could be in full flow come the end of the month and that would literally end up being the cherry on the cake if all the other news are good too.
Its important to note GDR have adapted their test (now uses Saliva) to make it work using Beckman Coulter's RNAdvance viral extraction chemistry. Thats a huge thing. We just did an upgrade on the test.
BC need to validate it, with the claims that the test performs xyz in abc working environments. And that their robots can work using the test.
Now the yanks are a funny bunch, some analysts say they need to do 30m tests a day, some day 900k a day, some say 3m a day. I dont know how the lab would work, do BC staff collect samples in a drive thru? do people mail in? do they just act as a high throughput lab where other labs and sample collection services send them samples and BC mass test. Are these free gov funded tests?
I am hoping for the latter coupled with being a central lab that does high throughput processing for others. One lab, if profitable could be lots of labs.
This is an educated guess.
One thing is for sure. If Beckman and GDR get this testing setup right it will most certainly get taken up across the world. It saves money, increases output and more importantly is accurate and error free. Automation is the way and with DIVOC also setting up a lab i wouldn't be surprised to see all this joining up to be a massive jigsaw puzzle using thousands of test kits every day across the globe. Let's hope David can pull it off, he's certainly got the right experience and right team with him to get this job done amazingly.
Dave77, most of the links being referred to e.g. Dave Budd is on LinkedIn
i wonder what machines DIVOC are using?
my guess is Beckman :)
wouldn't that be sweet
Where’s this golden cross. Take off thingy gone
I'm 100% they will take as many as we can manufacture, an update on that front would be very nice now.
It is big, if everything pans out as we expect this will provide a fully integrated system, automated extraction and test. It would jump ahead of others because Beckman can offer the complete solution and a very easy format, reducing errors and maximising sensitivity as only the sample needs to be added. It also shortens the processing time and limits chances of pipetting errors as you're only pipetting one thing.... sample.
For GDR it provides world wide market access. For Beckman it provides a world class diagnostic.
Livinhope it's just the MM's are predictable :)
Camelot isn't unfortunately

Damn, was hoping to be able to retire after the weekend! My experience of the MMs here is that they are indeed predictable...always wanting to pull the sp down!
Interestingly, if you are on LinkedIn - look at the people in Beckman who have 'liked' Steves post about this collaboration. They are in Tokyo, France, Australia, USA. Some of them have also shared other Genedrive posts. It certainly shows momentum building at Beckman.
It doesn't just look like Steve is the only one excited by this.
