Next Monday is the new tax year and new ISA allowance starts, may help the market going forward
The term "herd immunity" was first used by Sir Patrick Vallance - Chief Scientific Adviser at the start of this crisis, it is a scientific term which has subsequently been used by politicians.
Maybe best not to vote for people who think of you as a "herd" . The last ten years has left blood on your and their hands that will never wash off .
Stupidity and a pyromanic disorder are certainly required! ;-)
It takes a certain type to be in the fire service, I would fail at the first test, as I don't do heights, unless it's scaffold and I get time to acclimatise. Your a braver man than me M ;-)
The sky's are near empty, but the sea's are at full tilt. Cargo vessels in green and oil tankers in red
Incredible the amount of vessels at sea

Cheers Investor, I don’t do praise very well. Just stay indoors.. of course we will come out the other side but it’s going to get very rough before it gets better.
I salute you Marmited, your colleagues, the NHS, the police and other services that are working hard to save lives.
It's clear to me that the Govt (which I voted for) is behind the curve in dealing with this crisis. What is also clear to me, is that vital public services are under funded / under resourced, taxation levels will need to increase in order to fund vital services which saves citizens lives.
I am rare on theses boards as I swing to the left of politics. Still on the front line working for the fire service. I agree somewhat that no government could prepare for what is about to unfold these next few weeks but equally we certainly could have been better prepared and certainly better resourced. All Services have been run to and beyond max capability in normal times. The NHS comes under pressure year in year out during the winter months. It is widely reported in the media. We now find ourselves in extraordinary times.
We have just moved 300 firefighters over to the Ambulance service as they are under server strain.
This resets every 24 hours..

For me, the catalyst will be the commencement of drilling in offshore Namibia, whether its May, June , July, August 2020, we know that the Majors will be executing their plans.
We are living through unprecedented times but we (& the rest of the world) will come through this horrendous period.
Good health & good luck to all.
Well said, I am also a Tory voter and have been since the early 80's , doesn't mean I agree with everything they do
Quarterlies out at the month end. The three previous reports stated we were in talks with counter parties. If that were not the case, being price sensitive you would expect it to be announced.
Fingers crossed we are still at the table or near a conclusion
Why was I appalled that the Government was planning to reduce Corporation tax to 17%? Because I want more money to go in to the NHS, Education and the police. Thankfully, the Government came to its senses & reversed its decision, I think the Govt said that the taxes raised would be invested in the NHS.
I want to make my position absolutely clear, I am a Conservative voter who wants to see taxes raised in order to increase funding the NHS, Education and the Police. My view is that you get what you pay for. I feel that the Govt of the day is not executing its duties properly, I will speak out, that is my democratic right.
Look in the mirror next time you point your finger ...you say when you first heard that your corporation tax was been reduced, "you were appalled "....why ???, Wasn't that the perfect time for you to put the extra money you would have received to a good use, you could have donated it to NHS charity......the fact is you wouldn't have, would you....enough said, over and out. Gla
Yes we do have the right to point fingers, we live in a liberal democracy. Furthermore, I voted for this Government in the last election and I will hold them to account when things go wrong. Michael Gove yesterday acknowledged that more needs to be done to protect NHS workers, obtain more ventilators & undertake more tests. The Government acts when it is criticised / challenged in my view.
I received a harrowing call this morning from a close friend, his brother in law is a Consultant in a London hospital. As a Consultant he is now faced with making decisions on who gets put on to and who gets taken off ventilators.....life & death decisions.
EXCLUSIVE: So far deaths per week have not risen due to Coronavirus
http://facts4eu.org/news/2020_mar_corona_what
My point been, no one has the right to point fingers, we didn't go into this situation blind, we all in part are responsible......and for those who feel we on the whole, f...ed up, then when the dust settles push for changes, not just taxation, I'm happy to pay my share but the social system need more accountability too. Hand shake for now and lets do whatever we can to help all those on the frontline now.
Labour MP Peter Kyle just said on SKY that over 75's will not be hospitalised if they have CV19. Two care homes in his constituency have CV19
It makes me wonder if pensioners are too high maintenance and are living too long for our government
I agree with you IV the government have handled this very badly, giving mixed messages and it is clear the evidence says the cure is worse than the virus.......in every country the common flu takes more people than this virus
The whole thing stinks imo
Why would I be talking about ventilators 6 months ago? I would expect there to have been more than 6,000 ventilators in the country when we have a population of circa 65 million, the UK population is predicted to rise to 75 million by 2035.
With regards to taxation, I'm happy to pay more in tax if the money is spent on the NHS, Education and the police, when my Accountant told me that my Corporation tax rate was being reduced (this has subsequently & correctly been reversed) I was appalled.
With regards to your choice of words, "throw your toys out of the pram atm", I was responding to Jimarillo who regularly posts on this thread and expressing my opinion. The Government is now finally acknowledging that it needs to urgently address the supply of protective equipment for the outstanding workers in the NHS, many of whom are putting there lives at risk every time they go to work.
I hate people who play the blame game when the s..t hits the fan, didn't hear you shouting about ventilators 6 months ago. The bigger picture here is people dont want to pay more tax and I think that will have to change after the dust settles here. Our social costs have gone through the roof and people who are working dont think they should pay more for to cover this, so where does all this extra money come from, CUTBACKS, and everyone is happy until we have a problem. Better you call for increased taxation and accountability as to what's it's for than throw your toys out of the pram atm. God bless those in the NHS that have to deals with this atm and the conditions in which they have to do it, it a war for them and although there is only so much we can do for them atm with the position we are in, it is our responsibility that history doesn't repeat itself.
The UK Government is in complete disarray, the fact that they cannot supply NHS workers with protective equipment is a national disgrace. At the start of the crisis, we were told that the NHS had less than 6,000 ventilators for a population of over 65 million people, I'm simply speechless.
When we hear the stories of how Germany has dealt with the crisis, the UK Government and the Civil Service should hold their heads in shame.

How can imposing economy destroying calamitous lockdowns be justified when the government itself has DOWNGRADED Covid19
I think M&P are due to report soon, so hopefully we will hear from them soon, there has been a few adds looking for rig workers from Namibia, with immediate starts so must be something other than Total in June
