One thing is certain, both the shorters and GD underestimated the backing FRR would get from the US.
It gives me some hope, tha FRR will come on top.
Then again Zaza could argue why we having negotiations you cant terminate contract, its illegal. Unless they put the other 99 percent back on the table, its a tough one. GD want to come out of this positive. If GD loose election ( a realpossibility), could be the other parties do a deal with FRR and take the credit for investment and a trunaround in the economy.
IMO negotiations are underway, no doubt very tough, hence Malin putting on the pressure with his letter.
Can't be good for GD talking about US investment/ FRR daily.
FRR have worked in good faith in Georgia, under incredible pressure, not getting support from GD, consequently sometimes zaza/ steve not very tranparrent to shareholders in fear that investors run away.
I get the point that china and russia firms are not under the same scrutiny, hence not happy that after 23yrs of work investment ( half billion spent) a US business is being asked to leave. Not good publicity for GD, they should have handled this much better and sooner.
Our partners unanimously take steps towards democratization - Gakharia Malini's statement July 3, 2020
The Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia responded to the statement of Congressman Marquine Malin. In an article published on HILL.COM, entitled "The United States must stand by Georgia in the fight for freedom", Malini calls Bidzina Ivanishvili an oligarch of a Russian school who controls Georgia.
"Georgia is controlled by the Parliament of Georgia, the Government of Georgia and the relevant institutions. Gakharia.
Etc etc wont copy full article as its similar, not good for GD.
GD on the defence, talking about FRR every week. Bad publicity for them and Ivanishvili..
Talakvadze: Ivanishvili is legitimately involved in politics, as he is in Europe
03.07.2020 - Talakvadze: Ivanishvili is legitimately involved in politics, as he is in Europe.
Speaking to reporters in response to a letter from Congressman Marquine Malin, Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze said that Bidzina Ivanishvili was legitimately involved in the political process as chairman of the Georgian Dream party.
According to Talakvadze, the chairmen of the ruling parties in Europe are also involved.
"Georgia has a democratic system of government and is governed by institutions and public politicians who hold public office.
As for the chairman of the party, Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili, Bidzina Ivanishvili is legitimately involved in the political process, as the chairman of the party, as well as in Europe, for example, the chairmen of other ruling political parties. So, we can directly say that the opposition, and especially the old opposition, European Georgia and the National Movement, are trying to speculate, they say in the past why they are participating, today they are saying why they are not participating and we will respond with that, ”Talakvadze said.
"The United States must stand by Georgia in the fight for freedom," Republican Congressman Marquine Malin wrote in the Hill. ( xxxxc this bit possibly quoted by talakvadze not malin, tead it differently in another article xxx)
The congressman writes that the consolidation and control of power for Putin's ally Ivanishvili is not limited to the Georgian government, and he is actively working to expel American companies from the country. For example, Marquine Malin cites "Frontera" and other American companies, which, according to him, the Georgian government is trying to seize.
