Hi Mills240 - Thanks for the offer. If it's a high price its likely not worth the effort as we don't know if the interview is all waffle or contains anything substantive. I picked this site as you could sent the work in that you needs translating so the pricing should be accurate. I sent an audio version of the interview Keysersoze shared -

The original movie version was too big as uploads need to be under 100mb. I sent it earlier today so hope we get a reply in the next day or so. I also asked how long such a job would take.
Looed, let's us know the cost and I'd be willing donate some money towards it

ODR - I have sent an audio file of one of the TV interviews (it runs about 57 mins) to a translation service and asked for a quote. The freelancer was asking for USD12/hour but I have no idea if that is an accurate price or how long they would need to translate a 1 hour show. I will let you now if I get a reply.
There is a Wiki page that discusses all aspects of media in Georgia - its probably pretty much as you would expect.
"Georgia lacks transparency in private ownership of TV stations, including for the main Rustavi 2 and Imedi stations. In 2010, 90% of Imedi was owned by the Georgian Media Holding, a subsidiary of Rakeen Investment, and managed by President Saakashvili's former minister of economy. Balance and neutrality are missing from news coverage, with stations divided between pro-government and pro-opposition camps."

Anyone checked frontera Resources.com !!! On your phone !! I have not seen this site before:)
Cheers Looed.

Thank you Looed; your contextualisation was helpful at the time.
It is a real shame we can't find someone Georgian to not only translate the interviews but also give us some idea of how much of the media is Government run and how much is truly free.
ODR / Zib - I posted this a few days ago about the last appearance. The GOGC statement appeared 1 or 2 days after his youtube interview
"On the face of it this is a youtube channel with a small audience. I am pretty sure this channel is no longer broadcast on TV. However that's not always been the case. I am not too familiar with cut and pasting from google.books so I will paraphrase but there is book that talks about Georgian media and says this about the channel - it was the only independent TV broadcaster. Its licence was restricted to the capital only and the govt tried everything in its power to kill it off. I think the book is from around 2010- 2012 but not 100% sure.
There isn't too much info about this channel and I think it now exists as an online only pro-opposition platform. So while the audience might be small, it obviously gets some form of funding to promote its position. People have talked about FRR aligning with the opposition and this interview would fit with that. Small audience but presumably a highly targeted one."
ODR they're high profile enough to illicit responses on national media outlets that are alerting the citizens of Georgia to what their government is doing. That's going to hurt them not FRR.
Earsbern: not sure Zaza's TV interviews are "high profile". The impression I get is that may be on channels with few viewers as maybe a lot of the media is state controlled. Would be good to know whether that is actually the case or not?
Bidzina Ivanishivili masquerading as a mini-me of Putin, another unelected dictator running the country for his and his chums benefit.
It’s a shame that Ivanishivili & his puppet Govt could not spend the same amount of energy and money trying to evict Russia from its occupied territories, instead focusing on a American company that has invested over $500m in Georgia. Anyway good to see the veil drop a little more on this deviant with another Senator joining the call for sanctions.
As far as the arbitration is concerned, it is clear that the Georgians don’t want to meet FRR to draft a joint statement (as the process requires), because any engagement could open the door to wider discussions and/or political pressure, so they are probably wondering ‘why open the door‘? Or they have strict instructions from Bidzina. Whatever the case, they are hiding behind their lawyers who are doing their public lip service.
For other stakeholders like us, we don’t know the final outcome. But if the Georgian strategy is that the Tribunal has agreed that a material breach has occurred and we are using this judgment to terminate the PSA, than such unilateral actions will have far reaching implications.
In all of this, you have to wonder where is the Georgian PM - conspicuous by his absence - a bystander while relations between US and Georgia continue to deteriorate. And Zaza, with his high profile TV appearances and newspaper articles challenging the Govt’s version of the tribunal decision, is putting his own life (and family name) on the line.
The clock is ticking…
