When I wrote "swapped hope value for successful trading " - I meant successful trading by the company and not my own successful trading in shares, although if the company is doing well then my purchase of their shares should turn out to be a success.
NTM - your posts keep giving us more and more evidence of the way your mind works.
You are just like I was - I initially bought into FLX because I thought it had a good future. All the bumph made it look that way.
As the sp fell and fell and fell, I held on to my FLX shares hoping it would turn out all right in the end. I argued with FK1 pointing out all of the optimistic statements in the RNSs to prove that I was right and he was wrong.
"Hope value" is not a good investment strategy. I was a mug for taking so long to see that FK1 was always right with his forecasts for the sp.
I have swapped hope value for successful trading and real prospects for solid growth.
ECK seems like a solid bet with patented technology (for secure online payments), big contracts in the UK, winning contracts in the US, cash in the bank - and the coronavirus has actually boosted its business.
It is benefitting from working from home, WFH, since it provides internet software that facilitates home working.
In March, the directors said that, in these uncertain times, they need to be prudent, so they withheld the dividend. This month they announced that the business is doing so well that they feel confident enough to now pay the dividend - and that is from prudent people. ECK has realistic prospects, rather than just hope value.
You say "what if a global depression off the back of co-vid hits" - then get some money into recession-proof stocks. E.g. Reckitt Benckiser and Unilever. People will always clean their house and wash clothes, etc. Cleaning products sell even in a recession. Supermarkets are doing well and this dip in the gold price and gold miners is a buying opportunity. These tips are nothing more than opinion, chit chat and food for thought, so there will be no charge, but I can accept payment for the psycho-analysis in Bitcoin if you prefer that to cash.
"It sometimes takes many years for a company to find a good path" - this is true.
ECK was well under 5p for quite a few years, but I have watched it go to 69p today - and it pays a dividend. I suggest you look into ECK - better prospects than FLX, in my opinion.
By the way - buy ECK tomorrow and you will get the dividend that is to be paid on 23 Oct, or wait until they go xd on the 25th and buy them a bit cheaper than they are now.
Calling me a fan would be a big stretch Noel :-)
I have doubts in some shape or form about all the shares I hold FK1.. what if a global depression off the back of co-vid hits for eg.. and there are always pros and cons to be balanced off against each other.. as well as much chance involved in everything in life.
It sometimes takes many years for a company to find a good path.. and my hope remains that's the case here, but I've always accepted I could easily be wrong.
4p by Christmas 2021 here anyone ? (as two hopes of that by Christmas 2020 now, seemingly .. bob and no) :-)
Michu, good afternoon. Why do you think it retraces so much? Surely it is an absolute "bargain" as the bile that is posted here if you have doubts on the share seem to affirm? Is it because the share is full of hot air and puff or is the market really stupid? A bit like Boris Johnson what have they ever really achieved here? Certainly not the creation of shareholder value! I got to ask again about a placing. They must be sorely tempted if they can get something, anything at all to tack it onto.
"I'd even miss Noels endlessly samesy dollops of misery " - I've got a fan. How nice.
You'd miss me NTM, because you know I make sense, and on that note, let me correct you on "buy very low and sell a bit higher perhaps more apt than my standard buy low, sell high ending" - you will buy low, sell even lower as I did, only I bought at higher prices than today and sold at higher prices than today. Since I sold, the sp has dropped into a new low range. I hope you take note of FK's advice that there might an opportunity coming up - take it as an opportunity to get out.
I like jam. Even jam in 2021 would be fine by me at this stage here.
Obviously disappointing that there is further weakness here around now - how many times have I said that on this BB :-) - and I'm not tempted to add to my - only - few k position at this time.. not least as its thankfully not that much down still.. and averaging big down is often the required bet adding to play here :-)
But I still have strong hope that this will come good eventually .. Jam tomorrow anyone ?
And keep up the good posting generally chaps. I'd even miss Noels endlessly samesy dollops of misery for a - very - short while if he stopped posting here :-)
Given this is the flx board, buy very low and sell a bit higher perhaps more apt than my standard buy low, sell high ending.
too. Someone dumped 10k+ worth of shares yesterday and had to accept 1.15p. Clearly someone without confidence in the company and not willing to wait for the jam that is always promised tomorrow here.
