fjetcrazy, interesting to see that, according to Wolfgang, FJET have lost the route rights to NBO and EBB which is possibly a shame with an ERJ145 being added to the fleet as that could be the ideal aircraft for those routes (at least initially).
BBD and BBM operating this morning, its reassuring to know that Solenta have. An available resource we can rely on.
Our one remaining A319 is crewed by our local pilots , ex pats were given their notices over a year ago
I would hope this would be for new routes in Tanzania Mitara,Dodoma,Zanzibar etc not sure whether we couldn't try Nairobi again with the smaller aircraft
That once we have got rid of the last of the Airbuses in September/October that there will be a substantial cost saving on being able to use African Pilots and not needing Expats with very expensive pay, accommodation and periodic return home costs, as we will not need their specific Airbus skills. This should have a sizeable impact on the Final Quarter and thereafter.
If we do restart JNB I very much doubt it will be until the E190 arrives and note the ERJ is several weeks away,
Move of Nico to buy outright the title to the name Fastjet from Stelios at the time, as I am sure that it would have cost more now, now that things are moving on, and a lot lot more next year. I know that at the time £2.5 million was money that we did not think we could afford. It is increasingly looking like a masterstroke by Nicos on the timing and price to protect our Brand for the Future.
If we were to recommence Dar - JNB we would have to use FJD to go the distance until the E190's arrive and use the ERJ-145 for inter Tanzania flights.
With this news I think JNB will be back at 3 a week and more new routes
http://ow.ly/2AmA50dDwkl ---- Very interesting
Fastjet (FN, Dar-es-Salaam) is set to add its maiden ERJ-145 equipment in the form of ZS-BBH (msn 145067) on lease from fastjet shareholder, Solenta Aviation (SET, Lanseria). Skyliner Aviation reports the twinjet, which was previously in service for Fastjet Zimbabwe (FN, Harare Int'l), was recently added to the Tanzanian register as 5H-FJF ahead of its delivery in the coming weeks. It is recalled that two ex-Mandarin Airlines (AE, Taichung Ching Chuan Kang) EMB-190s are due for delivery in the coming weeks as well. Tanzanian low-fare airline Fastjet currently operates one A319-100 on regular flights covering Dar-es-Salaam, Mwanza, Mbeya, and Kilimanjaro domestically and Harare Int'l and Lusaka regionally. Flights from Dar es Salaam to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo, South Africa, have been quietly discontinued.

Pj We have had a pool of four ERJ s we have been using
instead of BBD at the moment, I wonder if it is in Fastjet Livery and why ?
https://buff.ly/2w7tH89 ---- Kaiser concludes, "fastjet has been experimenting with pure organic growth and measuring its rate of attrition against its redefined community and content strategy. Our rate of attrition has reduced significantly, while organic growth has enabled fastjet’s Facebook community to grow into pole position among its peers.
Despite what I wrote yesterday, about it proving to be a popular option, I did have the same thought, taskmaster, especially the "in Africa" angle. Let's just hope we've now reached that " time to run".
I suppose they didn't wat to run before could walk - LCC slightly different in Africa, could snuff out the embers with the wrong approach.
Surprised this option (and potential ancillary revenue stream) hadn't been introduced already / at the same time that seat booking, or 'buckets of fish', as this seems like a core part of a standard LCC model.
OK, if you want to be pedantic - like me! EasyJet's equivalent is branded as "Speedy Boarding".
O'leary patent.
I think that'll prove to be a very popular option, at least for as long they keep the premium at just $5. I always choose it whenever I fly with it's 'sister' company, with whom it costs a good bit more!

Very strange as I don't remember Wolfgang passing critical comment when Ed Winter removed all figures about monthly performance Had he have done Ed Winter and co may have been removed a lot earlier i
Wolfgang, clearly is not getting inside info with our new CEO, and it's obviously irritating him !, as a result he he becoming critical of fastjet, the below tweet in my opinion is totally unfair and out of character, a taste of things to come! https://twitter.com/whthome/status/900199598538575872 ---- I wonder what @fastjet has to hide that they do not publish their July loadfactors on their site? NOT what is expected of a 'Best Airline' ----- Double standards! He recently slated fjet for not giving more detail on ( in Fjet s words ) DAR JNB is temporarily suspended
