Something went wrong on above flight tonight as she turned back just before Mwanza and headed back to DAR where FJD LANDED after two hours 40 mins of flight, be interesting to see what happens in the morning, but for now we have it seems DAR MWANZA DAR passengers stranded.
Some industry news http://allafrica.com/stories/201705170927.html
I was buying heavily (for me) today.
Not sure I want to top up yet with this bird.

Nico is enthusiastic about the new team of top talents he is assembling and believes that it reflects the direction of the airline’s business. He says Sylvain’s appointment will go a long way to re-establish a solid and formidable commercial foundation for the airline
Having said that, they could come July revert back to current schedule if it's not viable to add another aircraft until they can dispose of the Airbus before they add two smaller aircraft and expand.
PJ I'm guessing it all depends on if they are stuck with FJD until October then that would influence what we get in the short term from Solenta
On TZ flights no seat selection choices are we not convinced which aircraft type/size we are using ?
Normal TZ Domestic schedule is resumed from the above date,so we must be getting an additional aircraft to accommodate this
http://www.pindula.co.zw/news/2017/05/13/air-zimbabwe-4-passengers-johannesburg-harare-flight/#.WRnsizclFpg ----- Went via Addis last month - extra stop and an extra few hours but saved US$300 compared to KQ and SAA. Or took a bus to Dar and use Fastjet ---- Sounds like a plan, that is $300 I can blow on Long Street ---- If air zim has 4 bookings why not save tax payers money and ask SAA, British airways or Fastjet to take them to Harare.
We will have the full picture soon. 2016 results due out soon followed about three months later by H1 results. I do agree that investors are somewhat in the dark, however, this is a better situation than being misled by Ed Winter with RNS after RNS making outrageous overly optimistic claims. Nico has claimed that he expects fastjet to reach cash flow break even by Q4 this year (Placing RNS on 5th Jan). It will be interesting to read if he is still on target to achieve this. Ever since Ed withdrew the monthly passenger stats to hide his shortcomings from investors (although he claimed it was to hide tge stats from the competition), I've been an advocate for their reintroduction. Now that there seems to be some stabilisation and it looks like fastjet will grow from here onwards, I hope that Nico will reintroduce these monthly figures.
Has his hands full ? :-)
Nico does not seem very good in keeping private investors up to date with progress, hopefully we will get a detailed RNS soon.
PJMInvest: Travelsmart 18 or its replacement would’ve been due in the cabins six weeks ago now. I very much doubt if issue 17 is still being provided as its print run would surely have been exhausted at least by the end of April. Unless crew are requesting copies to be left on passengers’ seats for desperate recycling!
This is now way overdue and presumably it is the last old edition in our Aircraft. We were promised this a considerable time ago and I wonder if it contained some expected items that have not become effective yet and therefore cannot be released just yet ?
by Air Zimbabwe (UM, Harare Int'l) to establish a maintenance hub in Zimbabwe has suffered a setback, after its application to the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to be listed as a Third Country Operator (TCO) was rejected. https://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/55761-air-zimbabwe-rejected-as-european-third-country-operator
Terrible news, I hope they manage to contain it quick. I hear soon after the last epedimic the street sellers were again selling the bush meat usually bat meat which is the probable source, local government need to act.
FJD only came back four weeks ago , I'm sure Nico has star air on call for unfortunate bird strikes or tech problems
Point taken. I keep losing track of just how many aircraft we're actually operating, until you remind me again! I suppose the A319 will be up for a maintenance check soon? Then what?
It's good news considering it's just the one aircraft in DAR, what would help is if the first departure of the day were earlier than 0700 and that could give it an extra 15 minutes turnaround time for the day's flights, FJD has been kind to us , long may it continue
“On time performance” panel just been updated on our Facebook page, and, for once, not good news: On-time performance slipped back to 88% – not seen below 90% since October’s 89%. In January 2017, 97% of fastjet flights departed on time (defined as “less than a 15 minutes delay”) and 96% in February and March. So matching February 2016’s record of an astonishing 99% remains a long way off again. No worries though as much can be put down to this transitionary period! Can’t it!! Meanwhile, the adjacent “Cancellations & Delay Inf” panel still shows the “no disruptions” situation of a month ago!
Says it all really AROGANCE no respect whatsoever for shareholders, we could hope that is was a dig at board members, but ALL guilty in my book
