Still only Facebook site operational. Have the other 3 been discontinued or suspended awaiting newly updated destinations not able to release yet. ?
Some of us who've been around here since 2013 live in hope but expect little, long used to hopes being dashed and damp squibs. But faith is a strange thing and, as so many wiser folk have pointed out before, in a "Rome wasn't built in a day" way, it's asking a lot of a fledgling airline like fastjet to become truly established (and therefore profitable) in less than five years. So.....ROLL ON, 2018!
does anyone think things will improve in Q3 terms of profit or reducing losses or breakeven, honest I can't see this year may be next year
Completely OFF-TOPIC!! But any fastjetters with any interest in the continent of our operation, here’s a heartwarming video story of Africa’s “Great Green Wall” from the BBC. It runs for just over 3 minutes. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/magazine-41391844/why-is-africa-building-a-great-green-wall
Apols if already posted... https://blueswandaily.com/fastjet-says-applying-standard-lcc-model-in-africa-results-in-flying-lots-of-empty-seats-around/ https://www.pressreader.com/south-africa/pretoria-news/20170926/282059097189254
An excellent rock-steady, continuous video – not that I watched it minute-by-minute! – until the cameraman was outside the aircraft at Songwe when it became distinctly shaky but not hopeless. I was just a tad disappointed that he didn't take the opportunity to grab a sequence from inside the cabin before disembarking. I look forward to the next enterprising passenger who does a similar video from inside one of our new, smaller fleet. Thanks, taskmaster, for posting that.
Let's see what they bring to the table, news can't be far away, lots chatter going on about new routes but very difficult to translate and even when I do they not making much sense
Fjetcrazy, The LUN-JNB, whether via HRE or direct, sounds good. My preference would be direct flights LUN-JNB-LUN and LUN-HRE-LUN. The fact SAA operate LUN-JNB-LUN direct would give them the edge, as against our stopover in HRE. The flight time from LUN-JNB direct is just under 2 hours (750 miles), whereas via HRE it would be almost 3 hours 30 minutes including the stopover at HRE.
Pj, I agree ! , to be able to carry some customers on this route with minimal extra cost to the route operation will be very welcome much needed ££££££
Hillwi, I'm hearing now that the passenger rights are in the bag so to speak , our next addition which has been mentioned by a few in the past including your good self? Is going to be LUN JNB via HRE
In real terms this is not a new route. We are landing there and taking off there anyway in taking passengers from HRE and LUN to DAR. It is therefore a near zero cost means of increasing pax on that bit of the flight between HRE and LUN. If successful, it could increase complete flights by adding a Wednesday and over time gradually increase flights until daily.
While it is good news to see another route added to our network, I cannot really see much demand for a twice weekly flight operating between approx. 01:00 and 02:00 in the morning, for a distance of only 250 miles. If we could introduce a twice daily rotation between the two cities, then I do think it could become a busy route. Business travellers do not normally wish to get involved in overnight stays when commuting between two cities in such close proximity to one another and a morning and evening flight would allow business travellers from either country to fly out in the morning, conduct a days business and return home that evening. This should become possible very soon, as we increase our fleet in Zimbabwe and or SA..
Fastjet, That indeed is good news. I can only imagine that they were selling tickets but had not got all their ducks in a row in terms of authorisations and suspended selling flights to force the relevant authorities to get a move on or take the blame. This would seem to have worked as I now feel they must have the authorisations and are able to promote leading up to Christmas Travel. It was probably wise to do this as any later cancellation so close to Christmas would have been a Big Problem, if passengers had to rebook at Christmas. Just look at the Mess Ryanair have got into.
The LUN HRE / HRE LUN are back on sale
These are existing routes, correct. New routes are in the pipeline, exciting times ahead! These will be announced shortly by #fastjet

Not too sure Marksman, it is a poor translation from African to English, I'm hoping it may have something to do with the current status quo re LUN HRE LUN
What on earth is all, that about?
#FastJet say thank you for being a part of their Ministry, Safiri trick, for lower costs. Lusaka, Thanks to Tanzania @fastjet
Indeed https://twitter.com/capetowncb/status/911170967401005057 -- Fastjet is setting their sights on the lucrative SA domestic market, while also negotiating new routes across the region #sitesa17
I did see that it was a sell larger than the floor on this stock which is why it went through @ 20p has not impacted SP so far
Hopefully that last piece of the jigsaw will fall into place before close of play today and allow the news we are awaiting to be released before the weekend.
