Zambia have no love for FJET. They have also just reiterated that the country needs a national airline which no doubt will be prioritised. However, it is a moot point whether the government can fund a new airline given the pressure on its debt service position.
B787, I would agree with you that as Fjet declared in an RNS the expectation of break even quarter, if this has changed, then yes the market should be informed to the current status, having said that , they would probably get away with a reference to it in a future RNS, I also think we should have monthly stats on pax figures ( Rwanda Air just released theirs , different government backed animal I know) https://twitter.com/rwandanflyer/status/940989519821754369
Fjetcrazy, I have to agree, it would be reassuring to get an update. For those with more regulatory knowledge than myself, would I be correct in saying that Nico would have to inform shareholders as soon as he was aware that fastjet would not be able to achieve cash flow break even this quarter if that were to be the case? Always one for transparency, we need monthly pax stats published, removing them was one of the methods Ed used to deceive shareholders.
It would be good to get an update on what the hell happened in Tanzania and if it’s all been sorted out and why such massive delays in E190 ops and implementation of new schedule, before they do anything else, but I’m not holding my breath
I hear it’s Zambia , but they not playing ball with the planned increase in schedule to the four flight s per week
Which country is being difficult Zambia or Zimbabwe? My guess is Zambia given that Zimbabwe has just given RW a bunch of 5th Freedoms into South Africa....
So it’s back to two services per week DAR LUN HRE DAR, no fifth freedom between LUN HRE LUN HRE
that is africa for you politics game but I believe one day will get it.
The new planned 4 x weekly service has been pulled indefinitely, Fjet really struggling to get go ahead on this,
It would be good to get a progress update from Nico regarding achievement versus targets and SA progress.
They have recorded the aircraft that operated incorrectly, you will note FJI as operating 0600 Mwanza and 0700 Mbeya which is impossible, FJH operated two flights total four sectors today
What on earth is happening ?
Fatherelmer Very good point . I've said things along the same lines in the past, albeit a bit tongue in cheek, but the African market place is miles different from Crawley
My point, which seems to be being missed, is stop viewing things fastjet with western eyes, Africa is different and so how things are done may well be appropriate to that market even if they appear odd / backward / not very good to us (based upon our local LCC experience). That said it does, to me at least, look as though current management is as poor at execution / day to day operational management as the previous one was, which is a shame as TIA is not an acceptable excuse.
I`m not quite following this discussion! Apart from having a different problem with the map graphic which, IMO, is perfectly acceptable being both simple and clear but almost illegible by being reproduced far too small (see my post of 6 Nov 17). My beef is with the whole website - so awful that I`m wondering if I`m in a minority as a Mac-user since there have been no similar complaints? I wish I could publish a screenshot to show you all what I’m seeing when I click on either of the two main tabs, `Plan Your Trip` and `How to Book and Pay`. Both are a complete mess, the yellow solid panels so out of register with the black that the latter is largely obliterated. How can our agency responsible not have noticed such a disaster? And while I`m about it! and meaning no insult to our native subscribers, especially since it took me several seconds to sort it first and second time around, it is not at all apparent when accessing the Home Page, where to click on next to progress further into the site - unless you actually do want to make a booking. What an unnecessarily vague tab is “Information Central”. And what is the point of the adjacent tab `English` when there is no alternative language from which to choose? When is fastjet (or its agents) going to get everything right for once?
fatherelmer I disagree entirely, Where is the income generating cross selling opportunities, Hotels, Car Hire, Car Parks. Most othere LCC's earn a significant amount of money from things other than airline tickets. The Route Map looks like it was drawn up by a child with very poor resolution. Where is the front page late news bulletin or Aircraft delays window or on time stats. It is a website that just does the basics of operation but misses great opportunities.
Pjm, the new website isn't that bad - just very different and perhaps works / fits better to the market it is aimed at??
We were told after complaining that the website is not as good as the one it replaced and were told improvements were to come to get back to where we were. No sign of that happening and the route map looks like it was drawn as a Primary School Project/
I don't like to see so many unhappy posts on Facebook about Fastjet which all seem to be un answered
Is really doing exceptionally well!!
Deat me pathetic management
in the light of the very revealing and well thought out article in daily maverick, why does this Fatal Looking Outlook not affect the recent proposals to dramatically expand Mango to many more domestic and international routes. ?
The impression I have is that the Facebook moaning mainly relates to Mozambique, where the LCC pricing model is unknown, and they are therefore 'behind the curve', so to speak. Given that we set up an airline there from scratch in a month or so, it is perhaps not surprising that explaining the pricing wasn't top of the list. But fastjet need to get on top of this locally, before things fester.
Goodbye on her way from Larnaca to her resting place, I wonder where she will land ?
