Fjetcrazy [21:04]: I wish I had the full answer. I had the same problem for several days and resolved it temporarily with a compromise: using the grave accent ` which appeared without corruption. Though it was hard to remember to use it when an apostrophe was required after decades of correct usage. It just required careful proof-reading every post before submitting it. What I can't explain is what I did, if anything, or what eventually caused things to right themselves, that now I don't have to worry about it. Hope I'm not tempting fate by writing that! (I also use a Mac btw, FWIW.]
Just looking at this again in greater detail ( obsessive) and it seems that the Kigoma flight can be slotted in between the two Kilimanjaro services with a 45 minute turnaround, could someone else please look at this and confirm if its feasable, I did not realise there was this much down time.
Marksman, many thanks for the feedback, appreciated. On another subject, how do I get rid of all these darn signs
(Fjetcrazy: Since your last post appeared within a minute of mine, just to say that I was referring to your informative post of 15:37.)
Thank you as ever, Fjetcrazy; what would we [I] do without you! (This response delayed by The Post. (Not the Mail, the movie!)
Assured that one ATR is inbound, also if you look at current schedule Kigoma cant be accommodated without a third aircraft
https://t.co/fJNQ8K5VLU Johannesburg Harare, May explain why we cant increase frequency
...new route now on the map: https://www.fastjet.com/en/plan-your-flight/route-overview
Fjetcrazy, if the route can be served by the E190 are you still sure that an ATR72 is inbound???
will be Tanzanian registered, it will allow us some flexibility to use the smaller capacity (lower cost) aircraft when PAX on a specific day are lower, and should help if we have maintenance downtime to use the other. Until Mtwara and Dodoma are available to us, which are hopefully being negotiated as we speak.
I would say most certainly an E190. Flight time from DAR to Kigoma is only 1hr 45mins / 1hr 55 mins, which I do not think would be possible using an ATR.
Minimum landing distance is 4300 ft. Kigoma's runway is 5800 ft , Im now hearing that reports of Kigoma operation by E190 is correct , so perhaps the ATR will fly some current routes to cover E190 on those days, its getting interesting
It will be the ATR operating this route,
Fjetcrazy, thanks for the clarification, though all the reporting at the time said the deal was for 3 aircraft for 10 years (though it did also say that they weren't all necessarily for Tanzania alone). Still be interesting to see how they try and fill her block hours....
South African Express in a "huge crisis", so says Lynne Brown the South African Public Enterprises Minister, not to mention SAA and South African Airlink. Now if only the South African Governemnt would unbundle and exit some SOuthern African routes that would offer some jucy opportunities, but whether they will...........
Maybe they have in mind Dodoma for the ATR ?
Hi @Dicksonmarsha90 , We're working hard on opening a route to Dodoma, so watch this space. To keep up to date with our latest routes, please sign up to our newsletter through fastjet.com/tz/signup. GN 🙂✈️
As does the seat plan , bizzare
The Citizen article seems to indicate that it will be the E190 that will be servicing Kigoma ? http://www.thecitizen.co.tz/News/Fastjet-launches-sixth-route-in-Tanzania/1840340-4284234-qeykqaz/index.html
Her sisters are NOT coming, it was an option to take upto three and not all necessarily all for TZ, it is clearly not easy for us to get new routes or for that matter increased frequency, take the planned 4 x weekly to HRE, indefinitely deffered.
fjetcrazy, I agree that this is a sensible approach to launching a new route. My point however, is what else do they have planned to fill up her available time (and that of her two sisters as there are supposed to be 3 ATR joining the fleet by the end of March)?
They can always add more if required, much prefer this option than the previous one where we flew schedules that did not match demand, this route is already served twice daily by ATCL and four weekly by Precision
fatherelmer [21:51]: Ever the optimist, eh!
From 1st March. Though with the limited schedule, and only one late afternoon flight on each day, I wonder what the plans are to keep the ATR busy??
There are reports that the EU sanctions against Zimbabwe may be lifted in due course; this would presumably benefit the economy and fastjet: https://bulawayo24.com/news/national/126506
