fjetcrazy, about time they plied that route - the interesting thing about the story for me was the hint that other (regional?) destinations had also been approved......I wonder what they are?
Also nothing on the Fastjet website about the new route (or any others) yet.
How good it is to see fastjet back in Wolfgang's sights after what seems to be a very long absence. I know it's only trivial stuff still but better than nothing. Roll on the day when he has something BIG to report on! It's been such a l- o -n -g wait.

Fastjet to serve Joburg Bulawayo
It was all covered in an RNS or two - relates to the acquisition of the EJ145 from Solenta rather than having them on lease, though could also be argued to cover FedAir as that also brought with it a number of smaller prop aircraft. The acquisition was tied in with the last fund raise from what I remember.
maybe that refers to the FedAir acquisition.
Someone from the Stalwarts Club might know the answer to that question. There were quite a few of them . One of them even won a prize for his/ her investing insight from some web forum. Happy Rob I think and the accolade was Mormon of the Month. Unusual to see religion being associated with the share world but nothing surprises me too much now.
As posted before, I attended the AGM in London on 27 June, as I have done annually since the company was founded.
According to CAPA Centre For Aviation's latest News Brief (to which I don't have full access since I'm not a member), "fastjet Group reports fleet acquisition highlights for 1H 2019".
I may have had a senior moment at that poorly-attended meeting but I don't recall a fleet acquisition announcement by Nico nor the Chairman, Wally. Does anyone have any more info on this – specifically CAPA members? Good news if it's a fact, though it still has had no effect on the moribund share price.

It's a shame 'cos he's done a good job with turning things around, I guess that's why Mango wanted him back. Let's hope his successor continues the same good work.
So this is the final stage of his glorious recovery plan...assume 'IT specialist' wife Glynnis will follow along with all the 'team' ka-ching.
Disappointed Nico is leaving, thought he would stay longer.
The whole loss in Tanzania was >$43m so we are best shot of that operation. Hopefully without that millstone, FJET can fly a bit higher.
That’s what the cost of acquiring Atr72 and disposable of same cost us.

Fjet picking up for Air Zimbabwe today

Mom was meant to fly to Bulawayo via airZim this afternoon. I get a call while she was in transit to Jhb saying that the flight has been cancelled and they are putting them on a Fastjet flight via Harare. I was defeated pls.
Fjetcrazy: your good wishes are reciprocated. Your link now works for me; I was concerned at that uniquely odd response I was getting before. Having read it, I'm rather wishing I hadn't now, given its content!
It's beenvery quiet on here of late, hasn't it. Probably reflects the mundanity of the share itself. At least it never quite reached what would've been the demoralising state of one penny.
The AGM comes round again next month – how quickly time flies, even if the company doesn't. Let's hope this year's meeting lasts a bit longer than the 3-4 minutes that last year's did! And actually comes up with some positive announcement/s. Hardly worth making the journey up to London – effectively just for coffee and biscuits!
Marksman, hope you are well, I’ve tried to copy and paste the report in full but no luck, try the link again as it’s still working.
Can you check that link out please, Fjetcrazy.
I'm getting an enigmatic response saying "Rate limit exceeded - you must wait at least 1798 seconds before we'll service this request." I have never seen such a warning before anywhere.

Usually well informed sources have, to a good part, blamed Tanzania’s regulatory hurdles put in the way of Fastjet – eventually prompting the airline to withdraw from the market and leaving future private investment in the sector in that country highly doubtful – for the massive rise in losses for 2018.
In 2017 did the airline show a loss of 11.2 million US Dollars, but for 2018 that figure rose to a staggering 41.2 million US Dollars, the highest yet in the historyi of the company.
Official sources in turn point to extraordinary write offs and in particular to the one off cost element incurred as a result of raising the share capital of the airline.
Without these elements would the estimated loss however still reached 17.3 million US Dollars, showing the underlying challenges the self professed pan African low cost carrier has to master vis a vis their market entry into Mozambique and the challenges of operating in Zimbabwe.
The source also confirmed that Fastjet’s market entry in South Africa is expected to take place in 2020, taking advantage of a FedAir AOC.
