Another one finished https://www.route-one.net/news/david-urquhart-travel-to-close-coach-tour-business/
Shame also about the demise of Shearings coach tour operators a few months back. Pity that some form of lifeline was not available to them.. they`d been a good company for years admittedly running on a tight budget, but non the less they didn't deserve to be cast to the wolves. Could First Grp step in with some kind of rescue package to help this business back into action. Even though its as tough market it could fit well with First Group., and add a useful string to the bow. The holiday potential in this country is terrific, if only the right funds could be directed to this vital part of our economy.
Dibeg looked at Gamma irradiation agreed far better. Cobalt 60 killing all bugs viruses etc. But didn't give a price I bet very expensive. But doesn't alter fact buses still absolutely filthy
that needs elbow grease to sort out. Cordant really have had a thrashing for state of fleet.. I think they'll lose the contract. Nice to see Government extending support to buses and trams and trains. Hard times a head I'm afraid thank God I'm retired. Cordant allegedly going to alter hours of cleaning staff to try and sort out this mess. Oh look at this https://www.express.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/1320018/free-bus-pass-age-state-pension-changes-uk/amp
Forgot to mention engineering in Sheffield so much better even good uns who left are coming back only one but better than none. Garry Birmingham did a good job. I always praise when some one does good. I may be an old duffer to some but I'll say want I think.
Dibeg I will look into gamma for sure, but Zoono is put through a atomiser machine to cover all surfaces like a mini bomb allegedly. But problem is buses filthy and not swept off properly. Don't get it as hardly no one hardly on first or stagecoach at moment. Stagecoach making 9 million pound of redundancy IT and office staff.
This message board contains a mixture of sentiments
If you are a long term fan/investor or maybe former employee of FGP watching the demise is very painful and possibly costly!
If you use the stock exchange as an investment tool, then you pays your money and takes your choice
There is no doubt the rocky ride will continue, buy at 30p sell at 40p seems the way to extract max profits, certainly in the short term
Dennis Zonno is hand gell they don’t have a clue what they are doing,
The way forward is Gamma cleaning it being used in airports hospitals and so on, have a read up on it,
It’s safe just put it on the bus close the door job done.
Moonman, I have chatted with PYUECK and Dennis many times and to be honest don’t care if you believe anything I say but I don’t post here that often and there are members here that know me personally so think what you like.
I make 80% of my money from shorting shares I only come on here to observe what people are saying and I buy the odd share.
At this moment I own 6 shares and have over 20 shorts it changes day to day.
But I have no short positions in Transport I really see them oversold and will be buying some soon to trade.
Don’t own any now gutted I did not pick up STOB at 23p what a buy:
Whats sad is FSY used to make double digit profits and now look https://companycheck.co.uk/company/02332529/FIRST-SOUTH-YORKSHIRE-LIMITED/financials
Dibeg I don't know about gamma rays sounds a bit scary. What they are using is zoono for the viruse. https://zoono.co.uk/
Hi Dennis RE cleaners your right the busses are grubby and full of bacteria for sure.
The way forward is Gamma Ray cleaning a robot it takes about 5 min per bus not sure of the cost but that’s what all bus operators will have to do in this pandemic:
As PYUECK has quite rightly said FGP is a shambles and mostly their own doing and they have a massive hill to climb now but at 38p to 32p I really think it’s all priced in, well I would not short sell it here I do see some trading opportunities up to November tho.
I do see a future for first group but they need to sort this mess out now:
I still see it as a strong buy.
Dennis - don’t confuse a lucky run with being clever.
Dibeg well done like it wish I was as smart as you, very clever Sir. This forum is an excellent place to find information from the posts are fantastic. Just found out from a ex colleague the gloves are now off with cordant crap cleaning in Sheffield and Doncaster depots as buses filthy especially Doncaster. Cordant have had their pants down and about time in my opinion and for travellers in South Yorkshire. New first management team finally getting act together with them. Why so long begs the question.
PYUECK, you do provide some really good information to this forum to be fair, and you could have made a lot of money from FGP just one example you said in a previous post you sold in March this year you sold some of your shares at the £1.20 to £1:30 mark not sure exactly but for you to do this you must have thought FGP was expensive?
And you called it right only one small mistake you should have sold all your shares,
Ok I saw it the same as you I sold up as well at £1:36 but what I did then I shorted the share and cleared my short at 36p I made over £50k I then saw value and bought back in 3 buys at a average of 34.5p costs all in.
My point being we are mostly of the same opinion but I took advantage of my experience of FGP and turned it to my advantage.
I really do wish you all the best and I do like your posts, some really good factual points,
Please keep it up.
Back to today market having a bit of a sell off today and Most transport giving back about 5% or more so first group are not doing to bad, well still early doors.
Ps being totally honest I sold up at 39p and taken a £7k profit it might be a mistake only time will tell but a profit in these markets has to be banked.
Looking to buy back in tho at the 35p level hope I can but never look back it’s done now.
Good luck all DI BEG out.
You must be the only person to retire early trading FGPs shares. Eight years ago the shares were 260p and now they are 38p, odd.
Another nice jump up! Boys don’t say I didn’t tell ya!!
Well over the past 8 years I have traded FGP and I have made over £160k, and another 5k again today if I sell up again.
I have retired at 50 and FGP Helped so I am not going to bite the hand that feeds me.
Ps it was not down to luck I know what I am doing.
I buy, and sell, and short stocks
One thing for sure I don’t ***** and moan I just get on with it and watch the cash keep rolling in.
Dibeg - it's not a case of agreeing or disagreeing with you. And time won't tell anything.
I have always said I wish FGP well and hope it can recover. So if the shareprice rises it is not a case of you were right and I was wrong.
What I would ask is that rather than just making statements about the shareprice being undervalued, please give an explanation as to why, taking into account the risks identified by management at the last results. In my opinion, based on what was said at the last results, FGP was already in a pretty bad position going into Covid-19. Margins were under pressure, particularly in UK trains, Greyhound and UK Bus, and the US business has been badly impacted by significant increases in insurance claim costs. The share price was supported by the hope that it could sell its Student and Transit businesses at good prices.
The business is now firmly in survival mode as ridership on its services have collapsed, passenger numbers probably still 75% down on pre-covid levels and no real sign of improvements in short term. School openings in North America look to be patchy at best in September. This means that the business is now almost totally reliant on US and UK government support, and while this has been delivered, it is not clear if the quantum of this support will be enough to support the business through the impacted period or how long the support will last for. Also not clear what the government funding mechanisms for public transport will look like following the crisis and also the long term impacts on customer demand caused by behavioural changes caused by the pandemic and rises in unemployment.
Things could improve, in 10 years this all may seem a distant memory and we look back and see 2020 as a great buying opportunity for transport companies. But be under no illusion the company has said that there are material uncertainties over whether it will even make it through the year, and dismiss statements like this at your peril. Companies hate saying things like this as they know the impact it will have on their shareprice, so if they say it they mean it.
PYUECK, I totally disagree with you.
But you are welcome to express your views,
But as you said only time will tell.
I wish FGP well and hope they can get the government support required to get though the next year and can then either sell off the business or transform its operations to make appropriate margins to allow it to repay its debt and finally return some cash to shareholders.
Some of the talk on this forum today though isn’t worth engaging with. Just saying something is undervalued is meaningless without a good justification why. Simply saying it’s fallen a lot is not an argument, read their latest results and it will tell you why.
I find that whenever there is a company in trouble you will find a pile of investors who think it’s a bargain and say buy buy buy. Reality is that nobody knows if it’s a bargain as nobody knows whether it will be able to overcome the risks outlined in the last results.
Ps, Women also buy shares.
But I do agree way oversold and the 6% rise today was in line with the transport sector in general all went up.
Myself I can see 40p by Friday but only as the share price and the transport sector is down 70% or so from March,
But is worth a gamble as one thing is for sure the sector will recover in time.
Take your pick FGP NEX GOG SGC STOB all taken a bashing.
Good luck all myself I like FGP.
We will see by Friday boys! 6% rise today btw
Agree with Daimler - beyond blind hope what is your comment based on? None of the risks which meant that there was a material uncertainty over the companies future three weeks ago appear to have been resolved?
Name me some companies who have said that there was a material uncertainty over their going concern that are now in good shape?
Where ? what is your comment based on ?
Two major sales yesterday 3;08;20
50,444 @ 17.19 K and 1175,966 @ 401 K
heres the start of us getting back to recovery! I can see this being the last week you will be able to buy in the 30s
