Yes, it will then be the quality of your mobile phone that dictates quality. So far the MVR stuff I see on my 6 month old iPhone X is better than what I see on the Oculus Go.

Themis, the quality of the audio/visual experience is handled by the phones processor. The Oculus go uses a processor that is 3yrs old. The experience will therefore be a better one in newer devices. The phone VR app is in addition to the fact that users with any smartphone can now access the 360 degree content without any headset whatsoever. This is a very good move forward for Melody.
@dan1nat1 thank you, yes, I know the device is just a holder for a phone, hence the quality will be basic and rely on the phone's capabilities for VR/processor etc, hence my comments. Would a cheap piece of kit really be as good as an Oculus Go headset/comfy/user friendly etc - I have my doubts.
Yep. I would imagine melody's headset & phone will be a lot lighter and more comfortable than the go. Plus the Go uses a 2016 processor. Any Snapdragons produced later than then, should produce a better visual/audio experience.
This will become a standard added gadget when purchasing a mobile device
This will be immense!
Themis, I think you maybe confusing what the “device” actually is. It will just be a holder for a mobile phone that is already owned.
Yes but does 'the experience' mean the content or the device or both. If the device was that good it would not be extremely low cost, otherwise they would put Oculus Go out of business :)
"The MelodyVR viewer, which will be made available to consumers later this year, delivers an experience that 86% of users in consumer testing agree is comparable or better than Oculus Go. The product will be also available to consumers at an extremely low cost " This won't be poor kit imv. The bundle should make the leap attractive to many sitting on the fence.
I was trying to see if the image in the 'preview' of the headset looked familiar. To me it looks closer to Google Daydream headset than any other, although too oval looking.
I'd expect a standard image although MVR will be buying the stock from some manufacturer somewhere, just hope the quality is good enough, last thing you want is poor kit with their content, almost seems odd to have supplied a viewer than just Google Cardboard equivalent, at least with cardboard you know it's throwaway?
Great news. Wasn't expecting the headset announcement. This imo should be more pivotal than the release of Oculus sets as it significantly lowers the price barrier to view vr (and with an experience better than Oculus'!)
At least they haven't used the word "soon", instead they have used the word summer, hopefully this time they will keep their word, meanwhile am enjoying the rise in sp as its limiting my losses and maybe I will get back into profit by Christmas although that may be a bit too hopeful.
@Ferrisc thanks for calling me funny, I'm just airing my views, I'm not short and only want the share price to increase, but you have to have a balanced argument. Of course this is good news, I'm impatient that it be released sooner on mobile and don't like seeing delays. Will the fund close their short, I don't know, they now have another 3 months to think about it.
Catch-up? Who are they catching up with? There is no competition. You’re a funny guy apart from your sinister attempts to deramp.
Catch up to who?
Because MVR should have been on mobile months ago and failed to get their strategy right from the start. Now they are playing catch-up.
I get you now, but summer ends in 3 months max, so it’s not really that long to wait and I don’t see why there won’t be any big releases on device only before then?
Sorry, I mean that both mobile devices and VR devices will need content delivered at the same time, yiuncant have a big new release of Madonna on mobile only and leave the VR headsets with nothing. Therefore until the mobile proper is rolled out we won’t see big releases.
Themis, why are you trying to deramp on the back of waiting for a new device? The RNS states the economic MelodyVR device is equivalent to, or better than Oculus Go. This RNS opens MelodyVR up to potentially billions of users with a smartphone. Muppet.
“Are we really going to get news on the next VR device now given that the mobile will need to be aligned with the VR device for content release?”
Not sure what you mean by this?
Autumn starts Monday, 23 September, the new date in your diary, until then we wait, again, people being fed crumbs. Are we really going to get news on the next VR device now given that the mobile will need to be aligned with the VR device for content release?
It won’t be beta for long, and what about the “viewer” fantastic RNS!
And it’s closed. Long awaited news but again MVR not confident enough to launch to everyone. They have had far too long to develop this and the warning signs were here about VR device adoption long ago. Once again delays.

Here it is, but a Beta.
