I don't pretend to be '"more knowledgeable' than you but I think you are on the right track in questioning the frequently made statements on here that Blackrock act Only as a tracker fund. They are investors just like you and me and if you look at their Web site they have a very long report prepared by several brainy staff laying out a new policy direction towards sustainable investment. I think Blackrock are actually interested in our assets, deeper than a pure algomitheric approach of a tracker, and from what they seem to be saying, because it is more profitable.

I think as Casper68 has suggested also - its a grey area for many as well as me understanding what Transfer in/ transfer out can be nailed down to. This link may help you with more understanding of how the grey area may come about: https://www.blackrock.com/us/financial-professionals/investment-strategies/managed-accounts#:~:text=BlackRock%20SMAs%20allow%20you%20to%20create%20portfolios%20tailored%20to%20each%20client&text=BlackRock%20optimizes%20investment%20decisions%20around%20taxes%2C%20year%2Dround.&text=Each%20account%20can%20be%20customized,client%20goals%2C%20like%20sustainable%20investing.
Agree with seemslukewarm, just flick between institutions and funds and you'll see the various blackrock labels Bobzrig.

I can't answer your question completely, but if you review the Blackrock RNS's you will see at the bottom there is often a Transfer In (or Out) of shares. I took this to be when a customer moved their portfolio to be managed by BR and that these contained EUA as part of the portfolio. So not necessarily part of the tracker index but still declarable under the Rule 8.

Question about Blackrock...
I know some tracker funds bought in when we joined the index, but I frequently see people use that to explain all Blackrock purchases.
My understanding from the RNS released since Blackrock bought in is that they have generally increased their share, even when our Market Cap has reduced.
To me this conflicts with us just being in tracker funds because as our market cap reduces we become a smaller part of the index so surely Blackrock would sell more than they buy? Yes despite our market cap being 3/4 or so of what is has been Blackrock's holding has increased.
I have no idea what funds Blackrock are buying for, just speaking aloud. Would be delighted to hear from others with more knowledge on this.
L3 data feed is from LSX ONLY.
The difference being the ""Paid for"" data is live - otherwise a time delay 15-20 minutes.
So lse id the L2 data feed
Cheers
Least thats what I pay for.

That's fine, as long as each EOD UT is a point higher than the previous. Check out the weekly chart if you want to feel better.
Here we go again,
They've dropped the bid into close, then we will probably end with an 29.50 UT and then open red tomorrow, predictable.
Afternoon, looks like it's been a slow day, fear not, all we need to know is the funds are buying, 31 close ?
Blackrock long increased now to 1.32%.
Short reduced too.
The big trade last Friday for 858,151 would have been another II.
We have said, the IIs will be loading up when the weak and short term PIs sell. There's proof if you need it.

I will do my own bought and sold later today.
"Median trades = Unkown"
I know this but i consider most of it as buy. Because sells are printed much lower around same time these unknown trades are printed. You can also look at the live chart to gauge if its sell or buy.
"As for LSE data - where do you think the L2 feed comes from ??????"
The LSE data has a discrepancy with the London Stock Exchange too. When i do my own summary, the London stock exchange report is more accurate than LSE, for volume etc.
