Amers, I have flirted with pre-diabetes which is what spurred me to lose a load of weight these past 3 years (4 stone at one point, now 2 1/2) and I just wanted to say well done you. All to often as a society we just reach, or are encouraged too by vested interests, for a pill to cure our ails when really a bit of fresh air, exercise, better sleep and good eating will do you wonders in the long run. Not that I am saying pharmaceuticals cannot help you, inb4 it is said, but there is something to be said about the holistic approach.
Steel, Amen.
Stix, apples and oranges comparison as Ebola is an actually deadly disease across all demographics and not just the unhealthy and elderly. Thank god the last outbreak killed itself off through asymptomatic mutation immunizing the host reservoir of infection against the deadly original strain.
FtseDow, does what I say offend you? Does this mean I should stop it. Well what happens if I said emotionally manipulative argumentation offends me? Will you therefore cease to comment. I hope not as such nonsense will be the death of debate. Civil or otherwise.
Ander. Actually hospital admission as a data point are terrible. A person can be admitted for X, die due to complications but if they tested positive for covid then a covid stat is generated. Also better testing leads to higher numbers through better reporting but some quarters report this as an increase in cases. Tisk tisk. Facemasks are useless unless N-95 rated and only assist in preventing the already ill from spreading RNA in aeroslised droplets. And social distancing is way over hyped as a control measure.
https://greyenlightenment.com/why-social-distancing-does-not-work-that-well-part-2/
I''d link part 1 but I cannot find it for some reason.
Amers love that initiative!
and what I love even more is my food and Grey Goose
Steel - Type 2 diabetes
You are right and I am one of them, and used to take 2 tablets in the morning and 2 at night, so I decided to do something about it. My HBA1C used to be around 68 and now it is 45, which is normal levels. So how did I do it, as I do like my food and Grey Goose. I walk around 8 miles a day, at walking speed just under 15 mins a mile. I am hopping that my GP would say, I no longer need to take tablets any more. So one needs to help themselves and not just relies no medication.
Gina Miller, on QT proposed an audit of the NHS to see where the money goes..
That'll never happen as those jobs for the boys ensconsed in the NHS would be revealed to all!
couldnt agree more steel
Public are becoming fat lard arse lazy feckers including kids .
The American Model .
Brookkers, exactly let's see how they're epidemic runs and report back in 6 months.
shark
would you recommend that advice for an outbreak of Ebola ?
To me this is a highly interesting topic. More so from a general general health perspective. I hate hearing 'the NHS needs more money' every year. It doesn't!! It needs our population to bevome healthier. Over 60% of the UK is overweight or obese!! Type 2 diabetes cost us £10 billion a year. It is wholly preventable and also reverseable. Not to mention the amount of heart disease from eating all the rubbish we eat. Again, also preventable and has proven to be reversible through diet.
Because of the above it is no surprise that covid 19 has unfortunately killed many people. Nearly all will have had underlying health issues-and that includes being over weight and generally unfit. Next time you walk down the street or go into a supermarket just look at the state of our general population. You will definitely see those 60+% that are at risk and don't even realise they are.
Anyway, hopefully we'll hear some news lol
Shark - your theory is being tested in Brazil ...
The tests are faulty this is widely known, a Paw Paw and a Goat tested positive in Tanzania. The death certificates are being doctored Covid being entered as cause of death when people have not been tested, this was clarified in one of the daily government briefings. Even counting all reported numbers this is only a bad flu season, when you look at the inaccuracy in reporting deaths this is clearly a sham. You think destroying the economy is worth trying to save EVERY life but you invest in commodities, where there are often lives lost in mines due to tragic accidents. All life is precious but always carries an element of risk always has always will. What you don't do is restrict people from meeting friends, family, moving around the country and getting on with business. Yes that is Tyranny of the highest order! If you think I'm selfish I am, I selfishly want my kids to grow up in a country where people love each other and are not fearful, where they can make there own way in life and prosper without a government over reaching into there lives. Now back to Eurasia news by Friday...
Ohmni, the daily hospital admissions don't lie. Lockdown reduced these to a point where the NHS could cope and we'll no doubt see an uptick in new admissions as lockdown is relaxed.
The key is to keep the cases in hospital to manageable levels, implementing social distancing at work, wearing masks on public transport etc will all help reduce spread.
In the meantime, therapeutics will be developed between now and a vaccine that will help relieve symptoms and hopefully reduce mortality rate for those that do end up in hospital.
If we went all out for herd immunity on day one, we'd have no effective therapies and more would die.
JimJim. A recession has a higher mortality rate amongst healthy demographics than covid 19. Further starvation in aid dependent nations will kill more than covid 19 will. So no,it is not my opinion.
Baaa Baaa
Anders
Hope I'm wrong but I suspect herd immunity is still on the agenda. Easing lockdown without a vaccine or mass testing is just creating a second wave.
The sky report is not a fact.. jesus!
Anders, not true, There is no statistical deviation in any nation that enacted harsher lockdown measures than others. Indeed. Institutions I do not like even say the best approach is the Swedish approach. The UN and WHO has both said this.
"In the current crisis the most alarming model, nay probably the most influential in the implementation of the draconian quarantines worldwide, projected a maximum of 2.2 million American deaths and 550,000 United Kingdom deaths unless there were severe restrictions for 18 months or until a vaccine was developed. The primary author: Neil Ferguson. Right, Mad Cow/Avian Flu Fergie.
Then a funny thing happened. A mere nine days after announcing his model, Ferguson said a better number for the U.K. would be only 20,000. The equivalent would be fewer than 80,000 American deaths. Technically, that U.K. number was buried in a table in the report under what might be called “a fantastic case scenario.” But could that reduction possibly reflect a mere nine days of restrictions? No."
A quote from the last article I linked. Besides. If we are expected to enter lockdown for the sake of the most vulnerable in society then the borders should have been shut as well. They were not. Ergo the lockdown could never have been successful. Then there is the illegal migrant issue as well that complicates pro lockdown arguments.
After 9-11 people stopped flying and auto deaths went up?
but what are our betters doing..
1) Johnson, supposedly, catches Covid... but his pregnant girlfriend is not tested? imagine the uproar if her new born had died or if she had died in child birth??
2) Ferguson HMG advisor, meets his married girlfriend.. he has no idea who she has been mixing with, yet.. he sneaks around for hanky pank
3) Starmer has been sending his kids to school from the get go?
4) Bozo's right hand man cummings, drives around the country..??
5) police officers walk around two by two and often seen in police cars sitting next to each other with no protection??
and now the talk of a coronavirus-recession and a covid- depression are talked about.. scam!
just somewhere for the establishment to pin the blame for the recession/depression they created!
I’ve got no problem with anyone going out and doing their own thing, however, this should be the rule. If you wish to go out and socialise, mix in groups, go to the pub, whatever it is that you want to do go and do it. BUT first go to the local police station sign a disclaimer which states that if you contract CV19 you forfeit the right to be treated by the NHS and hence not putting those very brave ppl at risk that work within our hospitals or anyone else in the public by your selfishness.
The sermon ends
ATB, Pete
Ohmni, your wrong. It would have been a massacre if we'd have gone for herd immunity. The study below shows that circa 5% of the UK population have antibodies, which means the hospitals would have been severely overwhelmed if we left the virus unchecked and gone for herd immunity.
https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-study-says-one-in-six-have-had-covid-19-in-london-one-in-20-across-uk-11992393
Hundreds of thousands would have died and our economy would have still been impacted by people taking time off work and don't forget with other countries also in lock down, trade would have been limited with them too.
Ohmni,
" This is empirically true" , there is no evidence to say that the lockdown will kill more people than it will save, it is a view but not proven?
JJ
my worry is not Covid..
Its catching Scrapie from all the Sheeple!
FBS, come now. Every board under the sun has some degree of covid talk on it these days and given the share is still suspended then why not?
Amers, how very Orwellian of you. Big Brother approves, your social credit score has improved.

Now what was that about un-mindedness? How many needless deaths will a recession cause? 1 in 5 suicides are work work related.
WHO figs
