"Your broker will do a Bed and Isa for you.
You don't need to do anything just let them deal with it."
Hl haven't done Bed 'n ISA for at least a year so, not strictly true.
Cost me dear when I did it as I didn't/don't have the spare cash to buy in the ISA then sell from trading account.
I have done it twice this week
Transferred money from my bank to HL ISA account then bought shares in my ISA and sold the same amount from my Fund And Share account then when that clears transfer that money back to my bank account.
Thats OK if you have got spare cash for a few days and it has saved me thousands in tax
HL do not do a Bed and ISA
If I remember correctly I executed an immediate bed & ISA with the Halifax last August (on eua)
I just done a chunk to max my ISA but I had money in my account to be able to do it instantly while waiting for proceeds to clear. Sold at 27.35 brought back at 27.50 so not to bad and it ticked up to 28 after, but it is a gamble.
Not everyone is doing Bed and Isa's at present it seems, I tried with Halifax a while back and whilst they would do it, they couldn't and wouldn't give me a time frame, they said I would have to leave it with them and their people would do it as soon as they could. So I had no idea of the time it would take and no idea of the price I would pay, therefore decided to take control myself.
Slowly but surely I have been transferring into ISAs and SIPP but still hold a chunk in Trading account which I can't do anything about until the new tax year, so on the one hand happy if this rolls over, but also happy if it doesn't. I think we will hear something this month however.
I had same issue it has taken months to gradually move across to limit risk....as of Friday all in ISA now so CGT tax liability reduced ...can’t be too long now. Plenty of positives on this share and the value of the asset is increasing all the tine. One day soon it has to go one way or the other....either way plenty to be excited about.....let’s start a petition to get Hooch back ....got to admit his posts were great entertainment.
Wife wont let me remortgage ! ;-(
Keep your shares, remortgage the house, take out a loan, max the credit cards out, buy a load more and don’t tell the taxman or the wife if it all comes off. Obviously do your own research. GLA
I would ring your broker. I am sure with II you can transfer to your isa over the phone, costs around £60 plus the sp difference but due to COVID problems it may not be possible at the moment. Hope that helps.
Just do a bed & ISA, your broker sells your shares and buys them back in your ISA at as close a price as they can, so ultimately you'll maybe have a few less shares but you won't be liable for a big CGT bill
Take it none of you guys can "bed and ISA"?
Thanks all. Just echoing of my current thoughts to be honest! Unfortunately, all of my holdings are in my trading account, so I could be down for a big tax bill.. but guess rather that than miss out all together.
Bumble - that's a much better idea doing it in chunks! If I was to take the risk, that's how I'd do it. However, I am somewhat reluctant . Just a weigh up in risk between the CGT bill and missing out
I actually sold some shares in other companies over a week ago and transfered the cash to my bank (2 DAYS ) . I then sent the money to my IG ISA and bought EUA shares. Problem is, I dont want to sell my EUA shares in my HL standard account and buy the shares that i had back lol. Just dont want to sell any at this stage !
Trying to time something now, highly risky to say the least.
I reckon you have a week to complete it at the most

You could sell and re buy in 2 or 3 chunks rather than risk selling the lot and the long awaited rns dropping 15 minutes later!!!!!!
Very and depends mostly on how long it takes for funds to clear and then cash to transfer.
Safer to sell something else within ISA and buy EUA, then sell EUA in trading account, transfer across and then buy back what you sold, easier and safer and you remain in more control.

To sell all of my shares at this stage and buy back immediately (or at least asap) in my ISA?
