Only a very uninformed or divisive/agenda driven person would make a comment like coal is dead. As long as the resource remains in the ground it will undoubtedly be mined imho !!
JEZZAC, now c'mon that can't be right we all know that coal is dead! LOL
Its so dead the price is up over 70% this year alone.. :-)
KIbo but not the CFPP as yet!
The question has to be asked, does Africa continue down the coal route knowing that it will eventually have to engage with renewable energy, or does it fade out of coal now (over a number of years) and begin engaging more heavily in renewables?
From kibos perspective it looks like they are fading out of coal sooner and going with renewables sooner.
Does kibos announcement pile the pressure on Edenville's BoD to make a decision?
Kibo Renewable Energy Strategy:
The Directors believe that clean coal-fuelled power projects will continue to be necessary for a transitional period of some decades to support Africa's rapidly increasing energy requirements. The Company has therefore been developing three utility scale, coal-fuelled power projects, located in Tanzania, Botswana, and Mozambique. While these integrate several clean coal technologies such as carbon capture and storage and the latest Circulating Fluidized Bed and flue gas desulphurisation technologies, the Company has also explored renewable energy opportunities for several years to incorporate into the longer-term growth plans of these assets, or as standalone projects.
“carbon capture and storage and the latest Circulating Fluidized Bed and flue gas desulphurisation technologies”
It is fine for the heavy polluters to advise countries like Africa to go green whist they continue with their polluting methods.
Africa is a long way from the polluting levels of China, USA etc and they need the electrification by whatever method.
As far as Africa is concerned coal will not be dead for many years to come and yes they also need to pursue renewables.
Kibo (LC) is not giving up on coal projects he has said that he intends to continue his interest in the CFPPs after he has sold them off which he will no doubt succeed in doing.
We have 2 weeks of this month left hopefully results plus updates which we are all waiting for to at least settle some of the arguments that persist on this board due to speculation of the future of EDL.
