Thanks David, so does that mean they plan to ship all samples, from across the UK, to this one lab for analysis? Hardly real-time, cost effective or carbon footprint free.
trillsg The Illumina MiSeq is a gene sequencing bit of kit, see https://www.illumina.com/systems/sequencing-platforms/miseq.html
I recently won a £40 Amazon gift voucher naming one of them which Sourcebio Sciences had bought, my suggestion was Gene Gray, fans of X-Men will get it :-)
Let's just hope that Gerry hasn't got too far ahead of himself with that timetable below.
Thanks Trills, wish me luck.
Re BT, the TP note outlines timetable below, note the phrase "roll out", that would suggest any trials should be completed well ahead of then, caveat being Q1 covers period to 31 March 2022 but not that long in the grander scheme of things of course.
Subject to completion of additional human trials, DeepVerge’s Board expects Microtox® BT to meet the criteria for the UK’s
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (‘MHRA’). Passing the Agency’s highly specific Target Product Profile
(‘TPP’) Rapid Breath Test would enable the Group to roll out its COVID-19 (plus potentially other pathogen) test kit as early as Q1 2022.
Cheer NU, go for it, I'll write you a reference.
Trills,
Now I have watched the vid can I apply for the job now? Can't be many out there who have even heard Illumina etc and it all looks like a machine based process, sure I could bluff anything else needed on the job.
Trills,
Try watching this?

Cefas, in collaboration with the Environment Agency, are assisting the UK Joint Biosecurity Centre in establishing a genomic sequencing facility at the Exeter Science Park to monitor COVID-19 in wastewater, in support of the national NHS Test and Trace programme. Longer-term plans for this wastewater sequencing facility may include the surveillance of other pathogens and anti-microbial resistance (AMR).
This high-profile facility, in support of the national NHS Test and Trace programme, needs a laboratory manager to ensure effective operating practices for a new high throughput genomic sequencing facility using Illumina next generation sequencing platforms

Must have experience in, at least, some molecular biology techniques such as PCR, q-RT-PCR, NGS (Illumina MiSeq or equivalent) and 16S sequencing of bacteria.
Can anyone shed some light on what Illumina is as both request knowledge of it? Interesting that we have Andrew Engeli from JBC on our Reuters panel
