After close trade reporting should be interesting today. D.
My days of being a gkp'r I feel are over, funnily enough I also watched it during the latest crisis and also felt a few bob in at less than a penny wouldn't be a bad punt. I was one of the mugs who never sold when it got to the £4 + stage. I remember saying to my son I've enough in gkp profit to buy a nice LR Discovery but alas I didn't, finally got out after the court case. The rest is history.. Still made a profit though. D.
Evening badger If biff didnt have such high liabilities it would be a nice cash cow to sit on and collect dividends but given current levels its the sort of stock that gets shortd to hell every time theres some sort of cash crunch in the ecnomy. I thought about gkp around the penny mark and might still take a few but i have genl and lam so im fairly well leveraged to oil right now. Yes sepu is one of my larger investments, i bought two tranches in the low 14s with a target now set @30p. I almost got it the monday after to activity was announced. Its a good company with good undervalued assets. It seems highly probable the company will be taken over within the next few weeks at a price i would assume greater than 30p. Should that fall through it will drop back but im certain will recover handsomely over the next few years. Currently @20p it seems very cheap if i didnt already own it i would buy it today. ATB
Hi Soleman. I wish, your right about biff, read the rns yesterday at seven am. Considered selling but thought I'd hang around to see what kind of acquisitions they make. The only company I could afford to buy 7 million shares in would be GKP, gave it a bit of thought but decided to leave it. Sepu one of yours, you mentioned it in the past. Any thoughts. D.
Are you holding 7m shares here? Im not sure about biff. I suspected debt and liabilities would be high and that has proven to be the case. The underlying business is pretty good and will probably remain steadily profitable but with an effective pe of 13 there doesn't appear to be much reward potential for the balance sheet risk. Theres a billion of liabilities which isnt covered in assets even with £200m of goodwill! I guess risks to the business are low but with negative equity its a risk i wouldnt take on. ATB
Hi smoke Who knows how ii's operate, it makes no sense to likes of us selling 7,000,000 odd shares at rock bottom price 8 days before the ex divi date. Maybe there's a bigger picture we're just not seeing. We're going to see it in next couple of weeks that's for sure. D.
ok o/b wonder why they selling its holding sp back thats for sure wish i had bought oiles yesterday was looking at bp but then fear factor set in take care
Well at least we know where all the big sells came from. Wonder how many left to go !!!!! D.
Good morning Steello I've long been a non understander' of the trade patterns on here, but what those trades at around 10 o,clock mean, well it's way beyond me. This is going on longer than the Donalds coronation. D
Everyone. Does anyone else get the impression that this share is day traded to death? Only a week or so to the divi so let's see you rise Dfs. About another quid will do but I'll settle for another 10p
Massive rise this morning guys, hope we can maintain it !!!!!!! only kiddin' Off topic wee bit of movement on Biifa D.
Sorry for the poor vocabulary, ipad has a corrective mind of its own!
Hello spmg, i have to agree with you on many points. The valuation metrics are better for scs although dfs is a safer stock so in investment terms i call it a draw. Its interesting how similar the two charts are, i guess you would have to say the best bet is to split your investment between the two to and iron out the impact of individual negative events. One thng we are sure that agree on is that both stocks look like they are valued as aim companies teetering on the edge but both are quite safe mid caps producing really good profits. Furthermore the dividends and investor centric attitude of the bods are fantastic. I keep looking for the point im missing that has these companies valued so poorly but its just not there. Buy buy buy!
Thanks Soleman. I agree that the scale of a DFS should make it a safer stock than SCS, but it is quite a gap in multiples. Particularly if you factor in that SCS has net cash of £20m and DFS has net debt of c£135m (I don't think the PE ratios will necessarily reflect that). I assume the share-buy back has had quite a positive impact on the price here as well. Based on the dividend yield, I think both stocks are better value than leaving your money in the bank. GLA.
Funny how you miss the latin having spent years hating it at uni. That, the girls and the drinking 😜 Its been a good year for hundred percenters. I booked vlk, gpx and xel believe it or not. Hopeful to add sepu to that before the years out. Not all plain sailing though will probably lose my half tranche in aai. ATB
I always did like a bit of Latin with my dinner, would be even better if I could also have a few hundred percenters, but alas I feel there's a few more dinners to go " down my neck " before that happens. Well done anyway. D.
Hi badger et al. Boring day here but enjoyed watching my gpx today, sold at the death for just over double money. Have to be carefull about wording on these boards but if my parents said they were considering topping up their shares in BOO i would say they are crazy and strongly suggest they take the profits on their initial investment. Thats just the opinion i would voice of course i wouldnt want to upset them 😁
Best post of the month oldbadger. Let's see if today is any different. Would be nice to have a level playing field so we could try and figure out how things are going. I was hoping for a faster recovery here, my original idea was to sell half around 2.40 and top up my shares in boo before Xmas. I'll stay here for that dividend at least. Not to far away now. Ste
It's a bit slow today guys. My expectations was for a bit more action. Wait a second I forgot all the action takes place after the closing bell, god forbid we Pi's should be allowed to differenciate between the buys and the sells !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D.
Ok soleman cheers looking bit better now yet the market very nervous hopefully blue finish
The second part was directed towards smokey not steelo
Scs pe is 7.5 when you cut the mustard, dfs is 9. The yield is also higher in scs. On pure metrics you have to say scs is better but its a smaller company with greater risk so thats a factor also. Dont worry about director buys steelo, look at the holdings of the director ad CFO, they have a lot of skin in the game already. ATB
Good morning Steello Felt like a traitor to the cause this morning, set a trade plan to top up on biff. I've kept an eye on them since ipo. Share been kept within a 173p/177p band since tradeable. Not a great deal of volume, generous bod. allocation and ii new allocation, "Pi's weren't invited" are locked in no trading new shares for bod.12 months and ii 6 months. Half yearly Wednesday so the GAMBLE is buy before after or not at all, anyone see into the future! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D.
Well hopefully we've found the bottom now, been steady for a few days. I see TRAK is the latest do fall off a cliff. Looks like we get one a week here at the moment. I had my 4 year old granddaughter over the weekend. One little hug off her and I remember why I'm doing this. I pretty much agree with you oldbadger, a couple more days of treading water and I think we'll seriously start to pick up from 1st Dec. We will see. OT, I may well join you in biffa today, I've been doing a bit of reading up. All the best everyone, Ste
Good morning SPMG That's not a comparison ever mentioned on here. One of dfs's mantra's is they are four times bigger than the next four largest soft furnishing manf/retailers combined. So I'm not sure any comparison would be relevant. D.
