Hi Guys With what I am reading and learning from other people on here my feeling is the marked is set up as to make it almost impossible to know with certainty which way a share will move, obviously. It makes sense when you think of it, if the form/best horse won the race every time there would be no opportunity to bet. On here we all think the clues because that's all they are are telling us this share is undervalued therefore we are" betting" it will go higher. The MM's possibly thinks it's undervalued as well however it's their job to keep the market going at all costs and caste seeds of doubt by constantly raising and lowering the share price dramatically in some cases to create movement in the market resulting in buys and sells. Recent examples of keeping the market going at all cost would be GKP and XEL both companies were crippled with impossible debt levels for years and yet the markets kept going, both companies announced massive dilutions 85% and 95% yet the market kept going, in GKP's case it's still going, unfortunately in XEL's case not, well not the Pi's anyway. My view is that in the stock market I'm only betting on a grander scale than I am when I'm putting a bet on in the bookies. In both cases I study the form and place the bet. All that being said I believe I've made a good bet here, do your worst mister MM I'm going nowhere till I get a good return for my stake here. D.
Im still here, more of a night badger than the oldbadger! Thats what happens when you work seven months on five months off. I have plenty of time for research through the winter. In many ways the chart here is mimicking the chart of GENL with a gap down, downtrend, bounce and backtest. 212 and 220p are key levels now. Either the downtrend resumes vigorously or a new uptrend starts after this backtest from the origonal bounce. I wouldnt want to call it but these levels are key and would bet on continuation whichever direction it takes. ATB
Obviously, copy and paste into your search bar. Interesting and explains what we already suspect. Ste

Hi oldbadger. Just back home. I'm glad you popped back on the board, it feels to me like it gets held back everyday for somebody to load up. As you say, my buy appeared as a sell. I find it impossible to work out where we are from the trades. I suppose it's just the market makers 'making a market' but it doesn't look right when they are dropping the bid because of a 3 share sale. My prediction for tomorrow is open higher, slowly drift down, rise again in the afternoon and then a drop right on 4.30. Sound familiar? Hopefully there's a huge buyer in the background and when they've finished, we'll fly....... It would be interesting to hear soleman1's thoughts as well. Good night oldbadger, let's see what the morning brings, Ste
Sorry steellol, I know I said I'd signed off till Friday but I thought I had to comment on the supposed " sell " pattern this afternoon. I know your still working so you would not probably have seen it. Early afternoon just as we started rising again hundreds of tiny sells from 1 to 300 shares started to go through, it was endless. Price went down again. I'm not a believer of the conspiracy theory where shares are concerned but it was definitely unusual. My buy went through as a sell this morning we must have bought within minutes because there was a five grand trade on the same page as mine also a sell but when I rechecked your post it was exactly your price. Probably just a coincidence both of our buys went through as sells !!!!!!!! To put a top hat on it two enormous trades after the bell yes you've guessed both sells. Aye right. D.
That's good to hear. I just can't help feel that there's something going on behind the scenes. This keeps gettin dropped, then large buys appear, it almost seems to be every day in here. Let's see where we are Friday then. No peeking at the share price until then :) Good luck and thanks for your invaluable help over the last few days. Ste
I'm with you Steello, I'm all in if we have missed something we will soon know about it. No more hoping for dips anymore, sorry to anyone waiting for a lower price We've been stuck in this 210p - 225p range for weeks now obviously it could still go sub 200p but only on negative sentiment, I'm no seeing that. I'm out of here till Friday afternoon, no more business here till I see which way it goes. Back on chat Friday. D.
Well, for richer, for poorer. Used my last £5k to top up at 215.26. Time to sit back and quite possibly soil myself if it goes even lower. Either I'm a complete buffoon or this is an absolute bargain
A nervy start for me this morning. I'm in Ctr and they had a wobble this morning, why I never topped up is beyond me. I think I'm getting scared because every share I have is red. Oldbadger, I notice this is getting nearer our possible top up price, Decisions, decisions. Donald and Nigel ? Now there's mutterings of a knighthood for Nigel. The world has truly gone mad.
Guys I see the Donald thinks Nigel would make a good middle man between the USA and us. Yes I do believe he would be the perfect middle man but only between me and the kettle !!!!!!!!! D.
Plenty of diversity in those three companies guys. Will have a look over all three next couple days. i make a point researching at least four companies every week, most fall by the wayside for one reason or another but some make it onto my radar. my last three buys have been mistakes not because the're bad companies far from it, I just got my entry price wrong. Patience not my strong point. D.
Laird one of mine misjudged the bottom now stuck in at £1.67p. Achieved a wee peak last week on announcement of a new director, chat seemed to think he's some kind of merger & acquisition guru, whether he is or not it got the share from the 130's. to the 140's. I'd have a look at that rns and the chat around it. Lrd supposed to be an in and out for me but alas another mistake !!!! Soleman's I'll have a look at your targets. Better day on Genl today not in there for much but the spike was still welcome. D.
Bit disappointing today but the first bounce always retraces. 220p is the line in the sand tomorrow if it can hold theres high probability of a fast move north. If your looking for stable long term winners i would recommend researching SMP and SPI. They are both mid caps that appear undervalued with good growth prospects and impressive balance sheets. Im not invested in either yet just waiting for time and price. Let me know what you think. ATB
Evening oldbadger, thanks again for the info, you're a great help. Another long day for me in work today, I too am working class, I basically rehab patients once the hospital Physios have finished with them. It's gym and class based so it saves the Nhs a small fortune and takes some off the workload off them. Long, long hours though. Looks like I didn't miss much today, I'm still keeping my powder dry, I'm keeping my eye on GMAA and Laird both seem to be good value at the moment. I'll spend an hour now looking through the prospectus with a cuppa. Thanks again, I hope we both do well here. Ste
Steello, Debt restructuring seems to have been the reason for ipo. It's all in there in the ipo prospectus, It's a lengthy complicated tome for a working class guy like me. A £78m. note was paid off in full by the proceeds. There are other important financial matters, loans, drawdown loans etc. Dealt with which I am still working through. I'll be back if I come up with anything relevant. That was a dip, but not dippy' enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! D.
Morning old badger. I think it is done purely for accounting purposes, I just don't understand why they sold that chunk when we seem to have enough money for a share buy back and a special dividend. Time will tell. I feel sorry for those in Afpo this morning. I never liked the look of that company right from the start. Aim really is a minefield it's it?
Sorry I was wrong, Advent " ARE "still the holding company for dfs. Our discussion of last night sent me back to the books for another look in finer detail. Should have done it before I replied, sorry. The ipo prospectus of march 2015 states that Advent are the holding company after submission to lse. Can anyone shed any light on this holding company situation, it appears a lot of companies are set up this way. My personal experience of this was during my forty years working for RR. they changed their company set up three times finally becoming RR holdings. Nothing changed as far as I could see I just assumed it was for accounting reasons D.
aahh thanks for clearing the Advent situation up, It makes sense now. I've noticed a lot of Xmas Dfs adverts on the tv over the weekend. Can only help with sales. I appreciate all the help, you're a great help. Roll on 8am to continue this adventure. Good night oldbadger and soleman1 if you look in. Ste
Loads of information on that dfscorporate Web site. Would advise anyone in already or thinking about getting in to have a look on there. I think Wikipedia is out of date Re dfs ownership ?????? Advent owned dfs prior to ipo would seem they held on to 12% after. That made me think their big holding reduction wasn't as relevant as it could have been. they had their cake and are eating it again ! Yes like yourself I would rather Re investment in the company as opposed to buyback. D.
Evening oldbadger. Work over for another day. I saw that re the buy back. I remember one of the 1st posts I saw from you. One thing that stood out was the relatively small fee float in the publics hands. The buy back will reduce it even more. Hopefully it'll help with the share price but I'm not sure what the point is? I think one of the other things I saw that was up for discussion was expansion overseas. I would have thought the money would have been best used towards making that a success ? Sorry, another thing I saw was that they may make a special dividend payment to shareholders in early 2017. Seems there's a lot of money stuffed down the back of our sofas - any thoughts? Sorry, one more point. I noted on Wikipedia that Advent are listed as Dfs's parent company. I don't understand that £40 million sale by them at all now. I'm confused :)
Fellow dfs'rs Has anyone read the itinerary for AGM. ( available dfscorporate. ) There's obviously loads of proposals from the board but the one I've picked up on on first read is the bod's intention to seek permission to instigate a possible buyback of up to 10% of current available shares. I'm personally not that keen on buyback but at least it shows that the bod is expecting good cash flow in the future. D.
SIx o'clock start sunday morning Steello I'm impressed. Still do aim but no more oil minnows, I've made two big mistakes since gambling/investing again. Into LRD using your tactic but alas in to early, stuck in in the high 160's share currently mid 140's I'm confident it will come good eventually. Stung by esure, was really confident quick money to be made during the gocompare de merger but what do I know. Goco tanked and esur flat as a pancake. Again I'm confident both companies will come good eventually, that word again. D.
