How many to open on 1st June.
I assume most if not all as stores are very big with lots of room!
2m spacing relatively easy one would think.
ONLY A WEEK TO GO !!!!
EmeraldCarrots
I agree the upside is good. Out of interest though, how many PC World's do you anticipate reopening on June 1st ?
Correction. Will be about NINE weeks of lockdown (started 23rd March:-
"44% potential upside" says Barclays Capital reading the article dated yesterday, which can be found googling:-
barclays-capital/412823604
I believe the mistake the market is making is although the stores are closed until 1st June, so it will have been about 9 weeks, approximately 85% of the running costs would have been wages. BUT the UK Government are paying these. So PcWorld would be keeping as many working as possible by re-deploying to help the web service side which had more than doubled (RNS said 125% more), so yes, more than doubled. Thus you have everyone who is working busy. If you get busyer you un-furlow some. Get less busy you re-furlow some. Very efficient if you play your cards right.
The WEB site must be screaming busy with laptop orders and mobile phone orders driven by the lockdown.
When they open IN TEN DAYS TIME it will be even busier with those PLUS the computer repair side will be swamped.
All IMHO.

will be in place for 1st June. Mobile app should be around same time IMHO.
PcWorld I expect will be opening up.
Mobile phones for app............ laptops for working from home............ computer repairs.
Remember the Government has paid the store staffs wages this last 5 weeks. Wages cost to PcWorld = NOTHING.
Track & trace article:-
https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-health-coronavirus-britain-track/pm-johnson-vows-world-beating-track-and-trace-covid-system-by-june-1-idUKKBN22W1N8
All IMHO.
for social distancing so PCWorld are at an advantage there. Plus:-
1. Government app when announced will make smart phone sales increased massively IMHO. I imagine Mum's/Dad's getting their teenage kids smart phones earlier than othewise the case for safety reasons.
2. Working from home. You need a laptop (or even tower) computer. You also need a phone or you will be using your own land line. Setting this up.......... PCWorld offer this service I believe.
3. Computer repair. How many computers out there are not working and need fixing after this six week lockdown???
I conclude they are going to be extremely busy to say the least.
During the lockdown the WEB site has been open and well advertised.
The costs of store staff wages has neen NOTHING as Government have paid.
A truly strong buy at these levels IMHO.
All IMHO.
I agree, this is another Halfords in the making. Tech is becoming essential as people stay more indoor. GL all.
Closing all the car phone warehouse branches saves money.
We will see who is correct here.
The WEB site has seen a 125% upsurge as per the last RNS (more then doubled).
That was before most of the advertising I have noticed recenty...... so is it now 200%........ or 250%??
IF they had to pay the store staff during this lockdown it would have been a disaster.
But the store staff are costing them ZERO as in nothing.
This is another Halfords (went up 80% in the last few weeks).
The sp is heading North of £1.20 IMHO.
All IMHO.
The write down from closing cpw will be huge. The redundancies just for statters never mind the assets the stock losses. That's why it's down. Dividend? ? No chance lol
**correction** - results 25th JUNE, NOT 20th.
vast increase is sales of mobile phones. ****** TOTALLY OBVIOUS ******.
Demand for laptop computers to work from home massive. ****** TOTALLY OBVIOUS ******.
Closed store costs. Wages are what??......... 85% of running a store when it is totally shut down.
This massive cost is beng paid for by the UK government. So relatively small cost. ******TOTALLY OBVIOUS ******.
When the stores re-open there will be massive demand for computer repairs. ******TOTALLY OBVIOUS******.
Massive demand to set up "work from home". ******TOTALLY OBVIOUS******. I imagine the dividend being re-instated.
Results 25th June.
All IMHO.

struggling to hold onto the 20DMA at 71p.
= laptop computers.
Laptops have got to have been selling like hot cakes and continue to do so.
Smart phones must have been selling well also due to million slocked in.
In fact when, on the Downing Street update they announce to the UK the app is:-
1. Available.
2. Encourage evryone to use it for saftey reasons.
What is going to happen to sales of smart pnones????????????
Dixons Carphone are isn a good position here. Remember all store staff wages will have been covered by the Government and cost Dixons NOTHING.
I expect the dividend to be re-instated.
All imho.
what is going to happen to sales of mobile phones? Is the market a bit daft?
At the moment what is happening to sales of laptop computers? Yes the ones milions will need to work from home. Is the market daft x 2?
The rise is coming and I'm in already. 1st June stores set to re-open.
I rest my case!
All IMHO.
assuming it happens on Monday 1st June.
As we know the stores are big, so lend themselves to being far better for the 2m spacing.
I predict massive demand as it would have built up over the siz weeks or so it will have been.
I think we will wave goodbye to the sp being in the 60p or 70p range early next week.
There has been huge on line demand for laptop computers (presumably driven by woking from home) and I predict once the Governments app is released it will become difficult to get a new mobile phone due to demand and stock levels.
When the app is announced on the TV how many are watching, or watch later? 15 to 20 million? How many will decide they now, at last must get a smart phone and how many will need to upgrade their existing mobile phone? A million, two million?
A massive surge in demand is completely obvious.
All IMHO.
MMs having a laugh. closing SP at 72.75p. thats a penny above the SP running into the close.
phones that can run the new government app that is being tested and tweaked in the Isle of White?
Once this app ia approved and available (give it 2 weeks?) how many people will want it for their loved ones to help keep them safe? To run the app you will need a smart phone on you. Also will the app run on older models??? I doubt it.
You don't have to be brain of Britain to realise that smart phone sales are going to ROCKET, if they ar not already.
All IMHO.
1. An egg whisk.
2. An oven.
3. A broom.
4. A bowler hat.
5. A smart phone.
6. A car tyre.
to work from home.
Is Dixons carphone in a good position?????????????????????????????????????
To work from home nearly all people need:-
1. A computer, likely a laptop.
2. A mobile phone.
So call me mad but Dixons Carphone seem to be in a good position here??
Stores lend themselves to being open as they are so big (social distancing not so hard).
Stores likely to open 1st June.
DIVIDEND might be restored. Note outgoings from closed stores minimal as staff wages paid by Government. 90% of store running costs IMHO wages.
I relly think the sp here is going to take off soon.
All IMHO.
Countries all around the World are using apps to help keep people safe.
Th UK government is testing one in the Isle of White right NOW.
Many people who don't have a smart phone will want one so they can run the app and stay safe.
The Government will want people to have one to stay safe.
Maybe the Government will subsidise mobile phones???
So, WHT IS THE SP HERE SO LOW?????????
All IMHO.
WEB site great. Stores likely to open 1st June.
Dividend could be restored.
The sp should be North of £1.00 easy IMHO.
All IMHO.
regained the 20DMA 70.5p.
come on Dixons you can do it. 80s today!!
Down... agree managment need to get grip on that aspect or we could have a short lived sales bubble ....
