The Telegraph’s reporter honestly knows more about Retail shops than finance … I looked at her linkedin profile - she knows more about Lingerie sales and Dark arts of Cyber security … my humble guess her boyfreind works at a HF , and she got a new Chanel Hand bag !
Yes BB , journalist should be accountable… this Big Short is a one day wonder ( which actually started months ago ) , well done to report them is fair play .
Can we close above 440 p today :) :) one more push ! :)
Feel bad for the journalist (as I have raised a case with IPSO now), I think she is innocent but incompetent. She failed to do any fact checking and became a pawn of the sha-who..?
Todays rise could be due to the shorts closing. I think the outstanding trading results surprised them,so they came up with the negative press,to give themselves a chance to close
Journalist and reputation. Not often you see those two words used in the same sentence these days.
Hi ijgs, Sanchez - I'm not suggesting the Telegraph are innocent but all journalists chase stories and in turn are leaked information. This isn't at whistleblower level. The BBC for instance are always accused of being left or right when in actual fact they usually try to get two parties to comment. Sometimes one is unavailable (like the Tory party). The fact that she is described as a 'Retail Editor' does surprise me a little but then again the tech business is so underrepresented in FTSE stocks perhaps it's an add on for her. It may be even more prosaic than that and she has another connection with the Shadowfall source. Her job is to get eyeballs on to the piece and help sell the newspaper. The piece is contentious and would have been run past the telegraph lawyers. The silence from Darktrace is encouraging.
It is hardly surprising that friendships and contacts are formed between companies and journalists. It happens in every other walk of life.
Imo it's more likely there are more shady connections than we realise than less. It's all proving very easy to walk the price down.
The Telegraph article was clearly designed to help some mates out. They got a tranche out yesterday and they are going for another one today. We really need the US buyers to step in later. Looks to me like they are trying to force the issue before their session begins later on.
Romaron. I am not convinced that the Telegraph are as innocent as suggested. They were instrumental in getting the Peel Hunt negative message out last year. Even last week while reporting on the trading update they had to tack a Peel Hunt opinion piece on to the story. There was no requirement for that in the context of what was being reported.
romaron, don't trust anyone, opinion don't count, read the facts. But to give you head up, CR888 aka Charles is very bullish and sheltie is bearish. Most people here believe Darktrace is a good company but the SP is hold up by Mike Lynch news and UK institutional investors that hate loss-making tech stocks.
typo - their business
Hi bobocaca (like the name) - good points. I was a tad concerned by the alleged IR reply correspondence but I don't know the posters here or their history. The wording did seem more robust than usual. I only purchased in the last week or so. I will pay more attention from now on. Is there anyone on here you trust?
I wouldn't accuse the Telegraph of lying. The author (hope I'm right) Laura Onita would do her best at honest reporting. A good journalist wil always try and get a response from the company and state the facts as they see them. Shadowfall have already put their letter into the public domain so they can be accused of twisting the truth. There is a danger of shooting the messenger here and I believe Laura Onita is experienced enough to just report what is already out there, she has a reputation to defend too. I believe it is now in the rear-view mirror and at present Shadowfall haven't done their reputation much good but then again, there business is making money and they appear to have done that.
Yes I believe this board could influence the SP especially when the volume is low and the big guys are not trading.
There are many non-regular appeared here yesterday, like yourself. Why? To seek information to better make your trading judgement, if that is not why you're here, then you really shouldn't be here. Most people would Google Darktrace before buying it and this board often come up top in search result.
Furthermore, we have some hard facts yesterday that show Telegraph's article was a lie including reply from IR with some numbers, check on the short positions.
Of course there is no prove on how influential we have, but the fact that you are already here debating about it, already mean something, don't you think so?
In defence of BB .. agree this board might influence sentiment of those PI who look at it … especially seeing the facts on Darks results made clear !
Of course large companies SP will be influenced by many other factors !
bobocaca, I'm sorry but you are delusional if you think that this BB influences the SP of a £3bn company. Seriously!
This BB could influence the actions of a few PIs but not the SP itself.
I believe what we do here have an impact in the share price. There are many amateurish investors who easily got spook by headlines, we use our collective knowledge to spread the correct information. If that's what IR reluctant to do, then that's what we'll do it.
It was a great team effort yesterday, well done all!
Sheltie - Dark was attacked - with false news again - it’s right to clarify the facts - great teamwork yesterday by many !
Honestly Dark share price is goid value - and I would not be surprised to see above 445 p by next week ! :)
Sheltie Are you suggesting that investors should be fine with, and not complain about what appears to be clear market manipulation?
Sheltie - where can you see data online confirm short interest levels in Dark ?
Shorttracker others say none visible
Ortex ?
Do we have any idea actually the level of any short if any …
Let’s focus on Dark !
and there will be further set-backs too, of that you can be 100% sure. But it was a tad OTT! The price will come back. What's a day in the life of?! Have a good day folks
It was imho a stunt pulled by a broom cupboard operation that the market makers just used to pilfer stock. It'll get given back.
We all know that the last update was excellent.
Sheltie. There is a big difference between normal press coverage and what has happened here.
. . .here today. Stocks can and invariably will, get shorted folks; it's a fact of life. Companies can and certainly will, get inaccurately covered by the Press! Get used to it, as it makes little difference, if you're invested here for more than a day! I'm surprised nobody called the Fire Brigade yesterday, as it seems every other poor beggar was! Relax folks and think 2023 onwards; stop looking in here every fifteen minutes (or every 30 seconds in CR888's case) and have a productive day. . .
