Hi jake, it suggests to me the UK rollout could well just die a slow death. Gov. have never forced the issue, suppliers just need to show they have offered a Smart. That can be a tiny link on the website, they really aren't fussed, and certainly won't be throwing funds at it.
That will be interesting jake. Whilst Smets2 does not involve CC until late comms stage it could be another delay. Perhaps JC's team can solve this, you never know, thinking of the £18m/30 jobs mentioned by the UK Government for CC.
I think Smets2 is here to stay as I read sometime back that it is half the price.

Well jake you may think no comparison but to me the main difference is political. Not that India would want it but if the top dictated not individual states then perhaps more would get done.
Colour, although not intended that was a good repeat especially for new viewers.
Over these many years India has been wanting the very latest at best possible price, I think it is now obvious that they have to make a stand and get on with it. You have laid the fault at CC's door many times but we can see it is a slow India, CC's fault may be they hung in at a cost. However we have gotten to the stage where for a small company we are in a good position to steam ahead, after Cov19. It is recognised that Energy is a Worldwide problem so India has got to dealt with it promptly (if that is possible).
I feel that in the next round of India announcements CC's will stand a very good chance.
Time will tell.

Incidentally Colour I spoke with an engineer working nearby last week. Apparently he reckons some Smets 2 meters are having issues similar to Smets1
On the whole the issue seems more the software as opposed to comms. He said the various suppliers have different softwares and need to standardise. I called my supplier and asked when they could read my meter as the other supplier did and was told at least 6 months probably more. That does suggest to me it is a case of getting all the suppliers to spend money updating their software.
Cyan only have one real contract, that is the stalled UK venture. No surprise, the board had no part in winning it, they bought it with money they didn't have.
Morning Tony not interested in getting into an argument but "China has very poor and very rich areas but we do not talk about them as not progressing. It is all a matter of organisation"" has got to be the most ridiculous statement to support your argument. Comparing China with India is like comparing Cyan with ARM. Also Cyan are still to do anything in China as well
Unfortunately Ted you cannot recognise that you made a mistake and I said that India death rate at present is only a fraction of UK's when you look at total population. I am sure it was you who used to boast when you bought all those millions (old money) of Cyan shares.
Hello jake, I agree that money will have to be redirected away from possibly Smart or Space Rockets for a while but it will not stop them moving forward. China has very poor and very rich areas but we do not talk about them as not progressing. It is all a matter of organisation. UK now has a much more positive outlook in less than 6 months.

Exactly as I thought, you've got it arse backwards, I'll not waste any more time on it, you're beyond help.
It still doesn't alter the fact Tony. Any available vote winning funds and positive propaganda for the Indian government, smart meters or hospitals ?........I think we all know the answer. Your timescales of India moving things on to benefit of CC of two years I believe is a little wishful. If JC persists in pushing that notion, or his of "in the very near future" he is either daft, incompetent or does not have the common sense to accept what's clear to most. That's what comes from putting most of your eggs in one basket. You can be sure the Covid excuse will be used at some point, the reality is that even with Covid being thrown into the mix he should have seen the risk far sooner dealing with India.
Hello BST, do read what is being said before you mouth off. I was saying exactly that illustrated.
Comments from a numbers man who I seem to remember lost so much with CC is inappropriate. I apologise in advance if it was not you who lost all that money.
Regarding numbers, I was pointing out that it was a very small percentage numbers wise in India.
Calculation: 127,000 of 70m (UK) if equated to India 1.4bn population would have equated to 2.5m in UK.
Proving I think that hopefully India will get through this peak as they at present are far short of our ratio.
DYOR
2m+deaths? Once again you've got your numbers wrong. Think you've done an arse backwards extrapolation. Some factual perspective on covid in India....

Tj ~ I know it was Tj v Jake.
Their conditions are of their own doing, charity begins at home, freedom is as important as life itself so that was the point I was making.
Hello Bamby, that was in response to jake.
I had already said that in ratio population wise UK would have had 2m+ deaths.
All numbers are staggering but in reality should be stated as a percentage of population.
However you cant ignore the conditions these countries are suffering under, after all India is not poor.
This is where improvements in next few years will be needed.
Tj ~ As you will appreciate the figures in India are all relative and percentage wise is probably less than the 2nd wave here, there is a great difference in India as we all know and that is densely populated areas were peeps sleep on the street, the burning of bodies in woodpiles is a normal activity in the poorer areas, check out Adar and Cyrus Poonawalla founder of the Serum Institute which produce the AZ mockcenes, 4 richest in India and in the control freak group. What does not differ is fear amongst the weak minded.
BBC where spreading further fear the other day saying peeps that recovered from the bug and also took Steroids to aid their recovery also got a disease called Mucormycosis and if you read about that lots od immune compromised peeps get it from spores in the air mainly from rotting dung in which poor communities use as fuel the whole lot is blown out of proportion to keep project fear going in order to achieve the ultimate goal and that is mockcene passports or farceports
Another state wise.

Although we hear more of the tragedies from India they do also have a decent recovery rate.
See attached site, don't know its validity.

Hello jake, yes I saw it on the main news. There is a vast difference in living standards throughout India, some well off and some very poor; being controlled from State level does not help. I think Modi will have to invest much more at grass roots.
As bad as the situation is it will pass, mainly with the availability of vaccine, could not see distancing working.
Because of the way most burials (cremations) take place I don't see there ever being enough fire wood.
You are right Smart is way down list and may be for a year but modernisation will get there.
As the plagues of yesteryear often wiped out half of Europe's population I hope they get to all the villages with vaccines, they seem to be suffering from several strains.
Stopping millions of people stealing power, many could not afford anyway, is a real vote loser. It was highlighted here that the level of theft goes from those with nothing, to Judges, Teachers and the Police. Modi will get a Lightbulb in most houses, but I really doubt they will ever pay to use it. Land an order for 20 million units CC, and I might start to think otherwise.
Sorry Tony did you view the BBC piece?it's still available on the BBC news website. These people don't have wood and are using cow dung for funeral pyres. They have little oxygen or medical support.
When a mate of mine returned from India a while back and said how bad it was ,I'm not sure I believed him, that piece opened my eyes though. Utter Pradesh ( wasn't that one of the big contract areas?) looks like rural villages with people scraping a living. The piece with the locals playing cricket in sight of the Taj Mahal ,one of the biggest tourist attractions.
This is far bigger than Modi. Before anything they will or should be spending on hospitals and medical support, something the Indian political class will now no doubt use as a vote catcher. My fear now is Smart will be pushed down the line almost with certainty.
Before you question my negativity I'm just giving an opinion, still holding as I've said before. Sometimes you have to take a reality check and see what's looking you in the face. Consider a vote winning strategy if you were a politician..... If you look at the main political driver here in the UK it's generally the NHS, would you not agree? Boris is currently riding high on the back of the Covid jab success. No doubt the Indian politicians are watching and will be taking note. Smart meters or Hospitals? .......
Things will change, seem to remember not long ago this BB saying the villagers only wanted an electric light bulb. That did not last long, IoT will be everywhere. These people are not backwards just held back. Much of India is poor but it will not last, they will want more. They cannot put rocket launching in front of livelihoods much longer, so Modi will do a Boris and dig into the coffers, works wonders for votes.
It is all very CC jake. If the massive poor sector in Indian public couldn't afford power before Covid, they won't have a hope in hell after it.
Hello jake, whilst the situation is very serious in India and help is arriving from around the world once they can get a 50% vaccine rate they will hopefully win. Trouble is with 1.5bn people that will take awhile.
In UK we had a serious situation come Christmas but only a few months down the line and we are nearly out of it.
Our population is around 70m, imagine that X 20, would have made our death rate 2,000,000 plus.
After all this I am sure India and Asia will want to push on to protect peoples livelihoods.
DYOR
Hi Colour. Yes that and the drop in the share price, very strange. Usually they would be shouting from the rooftops. Unless they know something we don't.
There comes a point when it gets too embarrassing jake. Easier to keep going and blame everything that isn't CC.
I can't think why CC haven't put some clarity and back up to the Gov trade agreement news yet. It makes less sense every day without some official company confirmation.
