"Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it" & "History repeats itself"
You don't seem to want to learn or take anything on board - it seems like the easy route to plead ignorance on any historical (but relevant) information...... which means you're going to have to learn the hard way my friend!
Well spotted !! This is what happened last time around the block when it strangled itself with debt and heralded the arrival of Oaktree .Hopefully tha twont happen but will need to show evidence pretty soon that they have turned the corner to avoid
Well just reporting some factual comment about competitors in the market. Views from the estate agency world that even those throwing great big dollops of money at it are unable to secure an adequiate return ,losses increasing .
It's a challenging market and unrealsitic to expect CWD to increase revenue and thereby reduce the weighty debt It was only a few monthsa go that Jed was labouring under a grave misunderstanding that this"turnaround" would be substantially reducing the debt this year when all it is slashing branches
Certainly not preoccupied with the share price and no doubt with such a low SP certainly an opportunity for some good trades to be made Certainly keepan open mindto that but the prognosis doesnt look good today
Appreciate that how CWD operates what is going on with estate agency , the corporate set up , the debt history and personnel are of little interest to you so why bother to engage in any discussion ?
The basis of your investment is they look cheap you have bought some and you are talking from your pockets .So good luck to you on that one .The best you can offer as an explanation to any negativity from posters who have experience and skin in the game must be disgruntled employees same person etc Is that the best you can do?
I keepan open mind as the property game is important to me If I change my tune I will be sure to let you know
I don't think sain will ever be positive about CWD , he seems to have some sort of chip on his shulders or dislike about cwd in general, maybe someone close to him has been treated wrong or had some sort of dispute going on. But everyone to their own.
Well the first 6 months turnover for this year was £290m and looks like it will be approx £600m for the full year , so still a very good / high turnover. Lets hope the profit now starts to turn for the better.
I had a look earlier at the 2015 Report and Accounts. It is breathtaking how far and fast this share price has fallen. In 2014 on the back of turnover of just over £700m+ profits of £80m+ were posted. In 2017 turnover was still as high as £627m. Goodness!!!
Platt has been a convenient scapegoat for CWD's woes .She made a bad situation worse. The rot had set in well before her arrival when they started to aggressively purchase disappearing revenue with borrowed monies
What they require is a comprehensive overhaul of the BODS throwing out the dead wood Bringing in som eRed Adair on some sort of damage limitation exercise to appease the banks doesn't signal the start of a new era
Mrs Platt's error was thinking Estate Agency was another retail business without understanding the fundamental difference between retailers in general and Estate Agents in that most people only move house every 10 or 11 years or so, so brand loyalty is a fairly nebulous concept in the Estate Agency industry. Agents have to work hard to constantly generate new business. Although his job description is not yet clear, at least he reports to Paul Creffield who understands agency, so there is no chance of him repeating recent history. By the way, does anyone ever "learn the lessons" of history and past mistakes as they are generally and frequently repeated (for example buying estate agency branches as a means of expansion with the subsequent evaporation of turnover associated with those branches).
Well filtering and editing are 2 entirely different functions. Once you make a poston LSE there is no a facility to go back and correct inaccuracies or rectify spelling mistakes It also doesn't allow you to remove the post unless you specifically request Admin to do so .Keep up !
A post on Twitter today by a disgruntled shareholder perhaps sums the appointment up
"Anyone else underwhelmed regarding the new COO @CountrywideUK ? Another retail individual who does not understand property industry. Same mistake they made with Platt .... Come on guys my shares need an uplift for my Christmas Holiday!"
Well trying to pick out the bits of his career which are relevant to his role at CWD I guess some simialarity in the sense it was a damage limitation role . However his newpositionat CWD maybe like Kingfisher he will be flogging a dead horse ! The irony is not lost that Alison Platt joined Tesco in 2106 albeit in a Non -exec role and look what she did at CWD !
Very true, but after that recently helped oversee the recovery of Tesco plc in the role of Finance Director, UK, Booker and Republic of Ireland, where he sat on the UK Board. Prior to Tesco, But I would expect you to just pick out the most negative bits of his CV.
Well I think this looks like a good move for cwd, I don’t think anyone with this level of experience and calibre would be coming on board a company like cwd to risk their reputation and CV if they thought cwd was going under. Maybe we will here some new plans to move forward.
