You sold in the 80s when you could have sold in the 120s,.....thicko....
Haha, yeh righto.........
That didn't happen, you bull****ter......
Cineworld was good to me last year after buying in at 24p & selling at 70p within 24 hours.
On a 12 month outlook, i think Cineworld around this price makes a decent investment. People are waiting to get out & enjoy themselves & the typical cinema audience won't care too much about a virus.
By the logic of the original post, that must mean live sport is dead, theatre, meetings, pubs, restaurants etc - all dead, as we all have great tech so can watch at home; cookers, can buy drink and consume at home......deramper or cretin alert, or both!
"The End of Cinema as we Know it" - Just because we have kitchens and kettles doesn't mean we will just stop eating out or stop getting Costa coffees etc... so embarrassing an adult could even think like that
Note - only someone with a boring/no life would say that. I have the best tech at home and I can't wait to get out to the big screen.
Shorts not increasing. If expected to drop more, they would be all over this. Mooky would normally have a Q&A at the AGM. Ask why he has not. They have not commented about L&G are spoken to the press in weeks. Only can be because legally they cannot. AMC up because CEO said they have got 25% market share increase in America. But now Regal opening up this will shrink back. Next week will be where the fireworks happen.
That is a very good profit and one that you should be proud of but don't you just feel that the manipulation that some are calling it has cost you somewhere between £10,000 and £25000 extra profit. That would represent a very nice new car to me. So they drop the price to make you sell and it has worked.
We can see from many posts that other cinema chains are increasing in value or have only suffered minute falls and other shares have recovered most of today's earlier artificial losses. I was going to buy just over a week ago and nearly paid £1.00 which I would have been happy with. You seem to have sold when Cineworld is looking like one of the cheapest shares around.
Well done all the same.
So how come AMC reached the 2019 level ?? Tell me please
I used the term skilled investor rather loosely there : D
Opening next week has already been priced in based on forward looking market sentiment. Will take a couple of months of consistent revenue to substantially move upwards. Not saying that won't happen but too much risk in the short term whilst 75% of population are yet to be fully vaccinated and 70% in US. Most people on this board are completely blinded to objectivity regarding Cineworld. 6% drop 4 days before opening? Can't be possible if it's such a sure thing, must be market manipulation. If the price rockets in the next week cool, I'll miss out and good luck to those who make more money. But I think its risky and if there's a further 10% + drop or more then I'll be back in.
Skilled investor??? Pffft, my a*se lol... A skilled astute investor interested in maximising his profits would've sold in the 120p area knowing contents of results, how the media works and factored in Covid variant emergence!
The variants will also keep coming... It's not about eradicating the virus! That's never going to happen, just like the Flu and other virus's the likes of! ...It's about control, and now it's under control to a much higher degree than it was 6 months prior, and as more time passes, more scientific research is undertaken.. the better that control, until it becomes just a distant memory and a sad year, just like the flu epidemic at the turn of the century, where over 200,000 people died in the UK alone!!!
Cinemas will re-open and business will flourish!
Congratulations on 50k profit! Hope you enjoy spending or investing it. Looked into what's going on and here's an excerpt from the article; "The ministry noted that, of the patients requiring hospital treatment, 80% had not been vaccinated and tended to be people with co-morbidities. It added that "almost all" of the critical and severe cases requiring intensive care treatment had not been vaccinated either. To date, none of the patients who have died with Covid-19 have been fully vaccinated, it said." We all know this isn't going away, and imo it will require a yearly jab or tablet, just like the flu. More scaremongering from the media, but a skilled investor making 50k and selling less than a week before opening would know this already I'm sure. Bye bye
Sold all my Cineworld stock today. Made a nice £50k profit from the 30p lows but too much risk around at the moment. Indian variant is a growing concern even with vaccinations (look at what's happening in Seychelles). Might be wrong but think 21st June will be delayed.
Interesting; source?
And we will never leave our home.
I don't know about anyone else but I'm going stir crazy. Open those cinemas NOW!
Hence why AMC is up over 15% today. Cineworld will follow suit, once Mooky can speak to press and not be tied to a NDA with a potential buyer at the moment.
I love analogies, but however good the kitchen you still need to prepare and cook the meal! Taxi gets driven for you so you don't have to..... Perhaps so you can drink!
So not really comparable, but I agree for some people the overall experience of the cinema is what they want, perhaps you might say going to a sports match rather than watching it on TV.... Despite so much live coverage the stadiums are still full (when allowed to be!)
I am fed up with the same bull**** people who think that Cinema is dead because we have a Q-Led 4K screen.
What the f*ck???!???
People have a good and well equipped Kitchen nobody is going to the restaurant... people have a car nobody is going to take the taxi...
Look at the latest Box Office. Come on wake up don’t be negative like that...
Just not a massive demand for shares at present.
Nope cinema is not dead. There's a massive demand for films to be be watched on the big screen.
Might take a while for cinemas to get back to capacity, but the UK is doing well with vaccines so back to normal by Q3 and Q4.
GL
They said that back in the 1980's when video recorders came out. They were wrong!
Most people have big screens and soon as streaming is so easy with so much choice, film producers will sell direct to the consumer. People will save and enjoy more at home or even with friends. Cinema is finished..They are all over loaded with debt. They will not make money in this environment. Times have changed. Cinema like the high street, is dead.
