No country can afford a second lockdown. This first one was needed but a second would be catastrophic for the economy. deaths from a second wave will likely to seen as a necessary evil by most to keep the economy from decaying further..
Trump : no second lockdown
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11682647/trump-coronavirus-lockdown-second-wave/
There won't be a significant second wave imo we might see a small, temporary increase but this thing will naturally burn itself out as all pandemics have done throughout history. The worst is already over and the recovery is underway. The chances of there being a second lockdown are zero - no chance at all of that happening. Trump has already stated no matter what happens in the US there will be no second lockdown and other countries will be the same. The markets are down today due to Trump and China over Hong Kong - nothing to do with the virus. One day it's gloom, the next it's back to positive that's the way it is and that's the way it's always been. Warren Buffet once likened the markets to a clock pendulum - forever swinging from positive to negative.
This will kick on again at some point.
Over 100 in the next month or so.
I am in and looking to top up in the low 80's / high 90's.
What are people’s thoughts, hold off for now? If Boris is doing another update on Sunday and it’s all going to plan it could have a nice rise on Monday.
Craig Erlam, Senior Market Analyst at OANDA Europe, comments on the markets response to rising US-China tensions:
We're seeing a far more cautious tone at the end of the week as deteriorating relations between the US and China weigh on sentiment.
Trump is due to hold a press conference on China today, which will likely involve laying out the country's response to the National People's Congress passing of the controversial security bill legislation. There's a wide range of ways the US could respond which is what's making people nervous, especially as it's likely to lead to another tit-for-tat spar between the two countries.
This is turning into a nightmare election year for the President. Everything was going so well heading into the new year and now with only five months until the election, he's facing a global pandemic that's claimed more than 100,000 US lives, a severe recession, another fight with China and riots in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd by police officers. Not the backdrop he had in mind six months ago.
