the Japanese are seeing a spike due to the numbers of US military personnel that are based there approx 50k

It could also be down to the government's, when they are allowing Cinemas to reopen. If Japan off the back of this have intentions to close Cinemas down/not allow them to reopen or people are fearful and the studios have research to say attendance will be low in Japan then it gives them cause to delay it in that region. I guess just like everything at the moment it's a wait and see.
I was just messing :), I think a staggered country approach is now more likely than ever. Unless they do a drastic move. Interestingly, Japan is seeing the start of another spike in cases - https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/japan/
Haha fair enough I take that it back, sorry. I mean though if it's going to be the date world wide or just in japan.
If it's a real promotion? ;):) Come on guys, you know I only post the best info - https://wwws.warnerbros.co.jp/tenetmovie/index.html
One thing I will say is that if it's a real promotion for Tenet in Japan then it might mean the studios are locked in on that date. It's rare for them to put out promotional material with a specific date unless they are confident they are not going to delay it any further beyond that September date. Of course nothing is ever 100% and its not down to the wishes of one individual studio but I could imagine the studios making the case to distributors to hold off one more month to allow the Covid-19 spike in the US to come down and for more states to reopen so they can have a bigger opening. It would give the industry a huge confidence boost if either Tenet or Mulan could be the first film to score over a billion dollars world wide, to do that they need the states, putting the date on the trailers though could be the sign of some commitment.
I personally would like to see Cinemas open up as planned and not delay further because I want to see this stock rise and go enjoy a film but it's also important that the Cinemas do well.
There's a lot of speculation about the dates being moved to September.
Interesting find jenks.
New Japanese Tenet promo's released today with the 18th September date on - https://www.cinematoday.jp/video/VIYZqHZT0kRW7c
The whole market is a bit damp today to be fair.
that was meant to say screens...not fscrees
There was a really interesting interview with the CEO of AMC Cinema last night on CNBC. He commented that most fscrees only have around 15% to 20% occupancy rate pre covid 19. so opening as expected for them is going to be normal and will be able to easily adjust to social distancing.
