IG will change there view. 19p was on the basis of cinemas going bankrupt. With news of cinema audiences returning, American cinemas due to open. And now studios ability to buy cinemas. There expectation of Cineworld will reflect this new information.
Amazon and Netflix were looking when the studios could not. Now the studios can buy the cinemas again. The SP will rise. Not to mention Walmart buying 160 drive in theatres, bring them into the cinema buying business. Strategically buying a cinema chain for a streaming service or studio makes for a sound business move. Come the end of the year, I expect AMC, Cineworld and Cinemark to be in the hands of either a streamer or studio. Wait till 2:30 when the American markets open.
@ hosai
No.
@ sumoverhistories - that’s very interesting, thanks for sharing!
During the big market sell off in March, two insiders bought in big. £423K @ 23.50 and £839K @ 27.65. They haven’t since sold, despite the price going to £1. Take from that what you will regarding the thoughts of these insiders on the long term prospects of the business.
If that was the consensus wouldn't it have stayed at 32p?
It does appear that way.
Down-trend continues.
Presently, no change in major short positions - again on a new low investment firms looked the other way at a chance to close their positions.
It appears they is some consensus remains for a lower valuation in line with a 'likely 19p'
@ShorterGuy
Haha. Good luck to us both!
@ShorterGuy
For what it's worth, I think I read the same article as you and what it said was 'There are many shares in the UK market that I believe Warren Buffett would take an interest in, but the one I like the most is Cineworld Group'. So it looks like Buffett did not buy CINE.
I'm also short CINE but be careful with Motley Fool articles. I shorted at 58 and 37. Looking to short more at 28 (or get stopped out if it goes up to 41).
I never said I was on the same level as Warren Buffet, nobody is.
I said I was out performing the hedge fund average, which is true but not surprising as most retail investors are as are index funds. You say demand for hedge funds is high, but they are having to cut their fees left right and centre. It is embarrassing. The company paying you to post mindless one-liners on this forum is likely in a worse state than Cineworld.
'at the top level'
Warren Buffet would disagree with you. As would the few successful active fund managers.
@ShorterGuy
'Hedge funds produce lower returns because they take lower risk than you'
Is that why they produce lower returns than an index fund? because they take lower risk?
PS: My portfolio is battering the hedge fund average.
So basically you have nothing to back it up with. You just threw a negative comment out hoping it would encourage others to sell.
I have no illusions that this BB alters the share price at all, but when people say that you're paid to deramp, your one sentence repetitions give them justification.
If your trading decisions are on a par with the hedge-fund industry you will be under-performing your benchmark.
I'd quite like to start up a hedge fund in future, its a great way to earn huge fees for being bad at your job.
" I don't feel desperate. I use my gut quite a bit for trading decisions. "
well keep your gut out of this....
feels like.... errr... James Bond is gonna save the cinema
" I think IG was too optimistic. This feel like belonging in the 5p - 10p range. "
" feels like "... OMG gets a bit desperate when you end up with comments like that -
Care to elaborate shorter?
Or just the usual one line deramp?
@guitarman001
'None of our diddly buys/sells are affecting the share price!'
Yup - 100% agreed with that market controlled by much greater and larger forces than retail investors
yep
scary
@knowbodyyouknow
the AMC deal appear to be a market changer by major investment firms & with a return to a likely share price of 19p.
I couldn't really consider it till then personally. IG & Morgan Stanley have a clear view & it is back by major investment firms shorting nearly 9% of the company stock the 4th most shorted stock on the FTSE
However, AMC Entertainment believes that its deal with Universal Pictures is a win-win situation that will help improve the profitability of both theatres and film studios.
‘We are participating in the entirety of the economics of the new structure, and because premium video on demand creates the added potential for increased movie studio profitability, which should in turn lead to the green-lighting of more theatrical movies,’ AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron said.

Oceanpassage at it again haha
Not invested here anymore (the debt (potential for cash raise) concerned me too much, so jumped out at 80p), but couldn't help but comment when I saw your moniker.
Hoping to get in here, Ocean?
I'll be taking a punt if IG's prediction comes to fruition.
